  1. Hi dtgirl! I just read your anemia, pica, fatigue post! I don't know how to help you with that, but stay away from matches!
  2. I know of a Celiac with Barret's Esophagus and two young girl's with Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitis. (This would be in a 10 mile radius, rural area) I'm am starting to believe different disorders of the Esophagus and other areas of the digestive tract are related to Celiac. As so many are believed to have have Celiac undiagnosed, we can only wait...
  3. In some respects, the Celiac community will help out the gluten eaters. We have worked out an alternative diet solution for a wheatless world. This knowledge of, UG99, should have made it mandatory for secondary food grains to have been mass farmed already. (It could have led to a more economical gluten free diet.) I am not a farmer, and don't really...
  4. Well I know there are more of us from this area. I think because summer finally showed up, they just aren't online right now.
  5. Macomb pediatrics?
  6. I loved the silo! I remember looking up and spinning, just to see if I could walk straight after. I used to live on Saal rd. Remember that cow that would get loose and cause a commontion? I drive out there for my kids Pediatrician's office. One office is on Hayes in Clinton Twp., the other office is on Hoover in Warren. OK, If I ever have to go...
  7. I don't have the patience for golf. I'm sure I would be like a Happy Gilmore if I went out on a course. I still drive into the Warren area for doctor appointments. I used to live right by Lakeside Mall. I didn't even have to take a main road to get there. I just drove through the subdivision and entered the parking lot next to McDonald's.
  8. When I did a search for this cake, I hit on IKEA. You should be able to order it from IKEA.com. Make sure it is gluten free from the on-line help on the web-site. Good luck!
  9. I'm in Oxford/Brandon area. (Just north of DTE)
  10. My kids are younger (big brother just turned 10 and little sister is 6), SUCH BEHAVIOUR IS UNACCEPTABLE. It will not happen in this house, and if it did ~there would be consequences. My daughter's diet is limited beyond gluten and casein. My son knows not to eat taboo foods in front of her or helps to find a food replacement she would enjoy. ( He is only...
  11. I'm new to the EE world. Gluten may be your trigger for EE. You can have Celiac and EE, hopefully we will have information on a possible connection. My daughter's triggers are casein, eggs, peanuts, chick peas, and she has been gluten free since she was 17 months old. We have to try fish, shellfish, and tree nuts still. She is able to tolerate soy. She...
  12. I suggest you go through the testing. Not only does my daughter have Celiac, but she was just diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis.
  13. Hello Ohio, There is enough evidence to prove a gluten free, casein free diet can help in a lot of auto-immune disease cases. I want you to continue on a gluten free, casein free diet because of the family history and the Celiac testing seems to be done. Then I suggest you keep a food journal and do a rotation diet starting with the top 8 allergens (well...
  14. It goes back to the question, How much gluten causes a reaction? One answer I found was ONE MICRON. So if your stuffing anything over one micron in your mouth, it's your judgement call.
  15. My take on this would be to screen all children by the age of 5. Other countries do. Why aren't we acting on the information we have (possibly 3 million Americans have Celiac undiagnosed) until there is a vaccine?
  16. One small McD french fry made me sick. What ever you choose to believe cross-contamination is very serious and seems to be higher risk in a fast food environment. We all have free will decisions to make. Elizabeth is sharing her personal decisions about her diet, maybe because pictures may show her with gluten suspect foods. A diet restricting...
  17. Sorry I am having a bit of a life trauma at the moment, so I have decided to drink. So if may information is cloudy or my statistic is wrong ~ someone kindly correct it. Some where about 30% of diagnosed Celiacs are IGA deficient. So the test for your total IGA is important to look at in the Celiac panel. If you do not have the normal IGA function, you...
  18. Thank you for the clarification.
  19. It doesn't say anything about the individuals in the trials even being genetically predisposed to Celiac.
  20. Yes behaviour can change quickly after ingesting gluten or taking gluten out of the diet. GLUTEN WITHDRAWAL is real and can make people miserable. These are the individuals who have an opiate affect from gluten and casein. (I have noticed this in myself. I get a great feeling of near uphoria, and my brain feels alive with an extra energy ZING.) Gluten...
  21. I am wondering about those of us who have developed other sensitivities. If this vaccine contains eggs for example, how many Celiacs still won't be able to get the vaccine? Can you imagine the vaccine adds telling how bad and life threatening Celiac and gluten sensitivity is to scare the general population into getting the vaccine? I'm sure there will...
  22. I had the sensitivity to light and fractionation of light after I had chicken pox at the age of 23. This had lasted for 2 years. I did have blood work done and found out I had an undiagnosed case of Mono with the antibodies in my system.
  23. My daughter did have an elavated blood test for one part of the Celiac blood test panel at about 16 months of age. She was hospitalized for dehydration during that time and I would not allow her to ingest any more gluten so the endoscopy was not done. The genetic testing showed she has both DQ2 and DQ8 Celiac genes. The Celiac panel is not very reliable...
  24. If there is damage to the villi, technically you are starving. You are incapable of fully absorbing the nutrients of the food you are eating. You don't know how many times I was laughed at by doctors describing the "head fizz". If you are seeking out an official diagnoses you need to keep eating gluten during the testing.
