  1. Any person who wants to eat gluten free should be able to eat gluten free. The Celiac, DH, and gluten intolerant community should be supportive. We medically need to be gluten free, and we support any person trying an elimination diet to better their health. Anyone discussing some one else's eating choices is overstepping the bounds and intruding a person...
  2. You have numerous symptoms of celiac disease. The bad news, if you want to get medical testing - you need to keep eating gluten for any tests to be accurate. (Even if the Dr. says the tests are so sensitive, blah, blah, blah)
  3. Yes there is a connection to an auto-immune form of cirrhosis and celiac disease.
  4. If we lived in a perfect world, a gluten free diet would not be a big issue. My four-year-old daughter wouldn't have an average of one hospital stay a year with dehydration from being accidentally glutened.
  5. You're in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there Kassandra! ((HUG)) Laura
  6. I heard Mojo get diagnosed recently. This must be the first gluten free birthday. I have been to sugar kisses yet. L.
  7. Happy Birthday Jerry!!! You've come a long way baby! L.
  8. Any vitamin with iron (gluten-free of course) make me vomit in about 15 minutes. If you figure out why, let me know. I've been gluten free for almost 3 years. L.
  9. My daughter was in the hospital, as an emergency admit, earlier this year. What a mess trying to get gluten free food! She is 4 so I stayed with her and had to find gluten free food for myself too. The hospital was an hour away from home and on the border of Detroit. L.
  10. Martha Stewart had on a baker from New York (Babycakes bakery) who has a gluten free bakery. They demo'ed brownies. I'm sure I remember her adding the choclate chips saying Gluten-free Casein-free and how wonderful they are. She is said to make the best frosting with aguava (SP?) nectar. Check the Martha Stewart site because they did post the recipe for...

  12. That was a shocker. Who's contract was up the lady who does the narration or Sheridan's? L.

    ARCHIVED Bel Cibo

Chef Andrew has left Bel Cibo!!!? There is no word if the restaurant will still be gluten free. I am so sad. I wish Chef Andrew the best and would like to thank him for this last year and a half of excellent pizza and food. If any one finds Chef Andrew, please post where he is and what he is doing. Laura
  14. The Bill of rights "freedom of religion" could be the easiest way to overturn any decisions to eliminate religious exemption. L.
  15. Celiac/DH and gluten intolerant are lifelong customers for these products. Keep these people healthy and since it's genetic, they will make more customers. What food company wouldn't want to tap into that market? L.
  16. I'm in Oxford. If I can be of any help let me know. In the beginning of your gluten free diet you may need to be casein free (protein of dairy). It could have been the butter on the baked potato that was the issue or CC. You can go to the tri-city celiac support group that was posted earlier too. L.
  17. Are you anemic? All your symptoms and the fainting can be from low blood iron. L.
  18. Happy Birthday!!! Altoids for everyone!!! (please enjoy responsibly.) Laura
  19. The donuts were gone by the time I got there. I didn't get sick, but I limited what I tried. Laura
  20. I would double check with the hospital. Depending on what floor and the level of care there may be a family lounge. If you have access to a microwave, I just found these Food-Tek mixes. They taste great, you just add water - then put in the supplied mold and microwave. Putting the bread, waffles, pizza crust in the toaster would be preffered. No refridgeration...
  21. Unfortunately your story is too common. I hate to break the bad news to you but you have to stay on gluten until the testing is over. (There has to be enough damage to be detected by the IMO unreliable tests.) You do not need an official diagnoses to be on a gluten free diet. You have every right to be angry. Come to terms with your past medical...
  22. Make sure you have a quick private meeting with the teacher, your child where you will discuss the urgent need for a bathroom. (Too urgent to ask the teacher sometimes) Make sure there is a liberal bathroom policy that will not be abused. L.
  23. I just got back from the food fair! I stocked up on the microwave Food-tek products. The nicest surprise today was Piece O' Cake from East Lansing! YUMMY!!!YUMMY!!!YUMMY!!! Very nice people and such good cookies, cupackes, and petit fours (which I would have sworn I hated petit fours, even from the old gluten days!). So I have to retract any former...
  24. I had various vague symptoms until my last pregnancy brought on the major "D". I have read articles that have shown a link between QUITTING smoking and onset of Celiac symptoms. L.
