ARCHIVED Wildflours Bakery - Northville, Michigan
mommida replied to StrongerToday's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Bel Cibo is still open. Steve, I asked about your salad recipe. Chef Andrew was still in a major experimental recipe time and can not honestly remember what version you had. If you want to chat with Chef Andrew he is on you tube search for Bel Cibo. L. -
I agree you should try the gluten free diet and those vitamins do work for alleviating some of the bone pain. I suggest smart water and the sublingual B12.

You need the full Celiac panel of blood tests including the total Iga, because a Celiac can be Iga deficient. The negative Iga test result does not rule out Celiac. I would see the pediatric gastro. for more testing to rule out any other issues. Wait to start the gluten free diet until testing has been completed. When testing has been completed and even...

ARCHIVED Requesting A Gluten-free Meal For Bridal Shower?
mommida replied to CantEvenEatRice's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Maggiano's is very good at accomadating a safe gluten free meal for you. I call the business directly, tell them what I need, make sure there is no additional charge to the host of the event ( there never has been), the business usually asks that someone call the day of the event to remind the wait staff of the circumstances _ This I will always do... -
ARCHIVED Has The Gene Test Failed You?
mommida replied to kookaburra's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I won't go through any further testing to get the "gold standard" diagnoses. My daughter and I are equally sensitive. Our genetic tests were done by Prometheus labs. She has DQ2 and Dq8 celiac genes, mine tests we negative for known celiac genes. If we were both diagnosed to the "gold standard" we would have been included in the study at Columbia for... -
ARCHIVED Jekyl And Hyde Kids On Gluten? Or Am I Imagining Things..
mommida replied to sarah ruth's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am so glad you are on this site and know the test results will probably come back negative. Hopefully you will trust your instincts and the first hand experience of the posters (my experience is the same gluten + kids wigging out, then my son gets a rash and my daughter gets D). Did the doctor order the total IGa? Some Celiacs can be IGa deficient and... -
ARCHIVED How On Earth?
mommida replied to uhave2bekidding's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I still haven't bought a new toaster, after three years I still don't like gluten free bread. If I eat it at all it is for a grilled sandwich. You can use a sheet of aluminun foil on the the old pans. You can order gluten free specialty items on-line from amazon and other sites. You can join a co-op like united natural buying clubs that might be local... -
I pray for my niece. She is about ten years old and has been diagnosed with RSDS. She lost the ability to bear weight on her ankle just before the New Year began. The doctor's say she is at stage 1 and 1/2 out of the three stages. She never complained about any of the pain she must have been experiencing before. She rates her pain level at 14 on a 1...

It took a year for me to be able to handle distilled vinegar, annatto, and some other ingredients. Give yourself some more time and consider trying other easy on the tummy foods. L.

ARCHIVED Does Celiac Cause Change In Med Dosages?
mommida replied to Dedrasmom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
After taking synthroid for about ten years with little change in the dosage, one year gluten free I had to cut down on the amount. So a very definate YES it makes a difference. L. -
ARCHIVED Bove Tomato Sauce

We've been using it with no problems (marinara). Which sauce have you been using? L. -
ARCHIVED Chanel
mommida replied to mollyacampbell's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It really is a cross contamination problem. Even if you don't put foundation on your lips it is close enough to your mouth to cause problems. Think about when you are washing it off with water running down your face. It really becomes an issue if you have Celiac toddlers. Little ones love to check out mom's makeup and hug and kiss your face all the time... -
ARCHIVED Tooth Enamel Question
mommida replied to chocolatelover's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't think the bleaching is a very good idea. I was starting to get the discoloration from tea. I tried the bleaching and the pain I ended up in is extreme to say the least. I had microscopic holes in the enamel and the bleaching took away the little enamel protection and let's just say you don't want air hitting exposed teeth nerves. Get a good cleaning... -
ARCHIVED Arthritis - Link To Gluten Intolerance
mommida replied to ArtGirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My niece was just diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome. She is 10 and they have diagnosed her level at 1 1/2 on a scale that goes to 3. I have been trying to get some research done too. Thank you so much for starting the topic and for posting. If anyone else has articles or input, please feel free to contact me through PM on the board... -
ARCHIVED 10 Mos. Old-possibly Celciac?
mommida replied to nikki8's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I heard the gerber wagon wheels are gluten free. Envirokids have some nice gluten free snacks for kids. (animal cookies) My kids are out of that stage and I can't remember their favorite snacks. 30% of "non-symptamatic" celiacs have constipation. L. -
ARCHIVED Need Proof Of Pharmaceutical Company's Power?
mommida replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I do think it would be stimulating for the economy for the switch to happen. The advancements in solar batteries would be a consideration too. (How many homes had electricity in the 1900's?) -
ARCHIVED Need Proof Of Pharmaceutical Company's Power?
mommida replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Car collector's (Jay Leno) still have some of the electric cars from the 1900's. We have had the technology for a long time not to be dependant on fossil fuels. How abondaning the oil companies would have disrupted the economy, and the decision was made many times not to change. L. -
ARCHIVED Dark Circle Around Eyes
mommida replied to elisabet's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Some doctor's/people call them "allergy shiners". Mine have gone away since starting the gluten free diet. L. -
ARCHIVED Alaskan Klee Kai I Just Love These Dogs!
mommida replied to Electra's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Contact the breeder. Not every dog is show quality, maybe the runt of the litter, or an older dog that is too old for puppies, or a young female born with a hernia would be a resonable price and a good breeder would want a loving home. -
ARCHIVED Update On Mom Accused Of Msbp

ARCHIVED Gardasil
mommida replied to Katie618's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm not trying to attack anyone. I feel the best place to find answers to particular vaccine questions is to start with the vaccine package insert. I have read articles that have the opposite viewpoint, may help or may exacerbate previous HPV infection. I wish everyone would ask more questions and make an informed decision. -

I agree with you on the texture of Chebe, but they are better after being baked then frozen and thawed again. Complicated - L.
