  1. Unfortunately blood tests for Celiac, especially for children under two, are not very reliable. Keep a food journal and keep track of "output" obversations and time charts. When it comes to BM's we discuss them all the time here. For the record, my daughter did have some diapers exactly like what you described. L.
  2. Add cheeseburger in paradise and carraberra (spelling could be wrong) to the list. L. I heard Legal Seafood has one too, but we don't have that restaurant near us.
  3. I've cleared my schedule and I will be there! Thank you AutumnE, if you hadn't posted I would have forgotten about it this year. I have to keep my eyes open for those individual microwave cakes. Laura
  4. THE TRI-COUNTY CELIAC SUPPORT GROUP GLUTEN FREE FOOD FAIR Saturday April 14th, 2007 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Farmington First Presbyterian Church 26165 Farmington Road Farmington Hills, MI 48334 Open Original Shared Link This seems to get bigger and bigger every year! L. (For the record, I just go to shop. I am not promoting any...
  5. I would like to go this saturday. Is it at the church in farmington? L.
  6. Reports have said Celiacs can react to protein of oats. L.
  7. Some people are saying that a Celiac diagnoses has caused them to pay a higher health insurance and life insurance premium. I have no problem keeping my kids gluten free with a probable celiac disease diagnoses. School doesn't have a problem with letting them stay gluten free either. (Anything that will keep a child from vomiting or having uncontrolled...
  8. Everyone has valid points, and I can not dispute what anyone said. If you start the gluten free diet - your chance for testing is OVER. A gluten challenge for testing later is possibly dangerous. (My daughter didn't make it through a two week challenge without being hospitalized for dehydration. She had only been off gluten for three months. She was...
  9. Yes, I think a neighbor dipped a gluten cracker into the gluten free dip. When my daughter and I healed up after three days of gluten reaction, we saw her again. She looked very guilty after hearing we had been sick from the usual gluten reaction. Karma is a b^^! Anyone who would risk the possibility of making someone sick is cruel. L.
  10. I got their "well the test really isn't that accurate, lost 2% of unidentified genes, mutating genes, and blood draw/handling errors" response when I asked for the test to be redone. I asked for a comparison to my daughter's test to show mother /daughter relationship to prove it was my test or someone else's. My husband and I watched the show "I am My Own...
  11. I'll be praying for Mawmaw. I hope she is getting gluten free food in the hospital with no cross contamination! Laura
  12. My experience won't help you make a decision for genetic testing. It should help you gain perspective. I was diagnosed with IBS and lived with that until my daughter was born. There were some things in hindsight that were Ceiliac symptoms when she was an infant. When solid foods were introduced, she began having the same reactions to food as I was having...
  13. My husband and I tried bean flour pasta. It tasted great, but after our bellies ached. The equivilent of eating a plateful of beans (navy, lentil, fava and chickpea) can make a huge difference. Xanthan gum (or guar gum) can have a laxative effect. If someone tells me something they ate makes them feel sick, I believe them. L.
  14. I thought of the pink hammer, sounds kinda kinky. L.
  15. I see your point about having your son treated as a Celiac patient. Have faith , there are some specialist that understand Celiac and know how difficult the diagnoses can be. Can you check with your local Celiac support group for an experinced specialist in your area? L.
  16. You have done the research. You have two valid positive results indicating Celiac. (blood work, and dietary response) A gluten challenge at this point is risky. The damage being done, might not be enough for the biopsy to detect. The gluten free diet should have started after the diagnoses. Your child could end up severely dehydrated and need I.V. fluids...
  17. The chimera thing is a joke between my husband and I. I really like to just blame the lab that drew the blood and Prometheus labs for some type of mistake. I secretly wonder if my results were mixed up and there is some poor sap on a gluten free diet for no reason. L. My husband is finally having the screening done. He has finally admited a difference...
  18. I do know at least one human hospital website has information about the contamination problem and possible human food was contaminated. Maybe they are just being extra cautious. Perhaps considering some stories of senior citizens eating pet food because their limited budgets. Or someone has dealt with food companies that won't verify the ingredients. L...
  19. I had chicken pox twice. The first time I was under a year old and the second time I was 23. Both causes were very mild, about 50 pox. L.
  20. It is spelled Cerrone cones for the family's last name. The cones are great. I heard they were going to merge with gluten free pantry. I haven't found them in a store since. I still have the last box for reference Gluten-Free Pantry 800-291-8386 or Open Original Shared Link free.com or Open Original Shared Link Have a great party! L.
  21. My daughter was just hospitalized for dehydration from rotovirus and strep. You pretty much have to supply your own gluten free food. On the second day the dietician called and she knew what she was doing to have the food ordered for the next day. It took the hospital two days to figure out the gluten free diet. Don't take the chance the person that understands...
  22. Did you put vanilla in those recipes? Vanilla was a problem when I first went gluten free. The brand should have been gluten free, but the bottle itself must have been crosscontaminated. Or in the beginning all types of alcohols and distilled vinegars were causing problems for me. You are still new enough that keeping a food diary could prove you are...
  23. You must consume enough gluten to cause enough damage for the blood tests to show a positive result in the varying RANGE. The genetic test is not very accurate (my personal experience). The gluten free diet and your body's reaction is a test that you personally will have to interpret the results. It sounds like you have all ready determined your health...
  24. Not having the paper han't been a problem with school, just tell them what happens when gluten gets ingested. The big "D" word or projectile vomit or both at the same time gets the point accross. They don't want to clean up a mess like that, and will take your word for it. As for in-laws they might be a little harder, just tell them how it is. Invite...
  25. My niece just got diagnose with RSDS. (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome) Did the joint inflammation come first and then the area turn into deep rusky almost purple or purple color? My niece is still in the process of having another opinion for complete diagnoses and I would like to keep researching other possibilities. Feel free to PM if you want...
