Ok, hubby went to proctologist for hemorroids only to find that he doesn't have them, he has a prolapsed rectal lining due to years of misdiagosed celiac. So he needs reconstruction done in sections, it's outpatient in his office but it'll take 3-4 procedures over the next 3-4 months. So chalk another condition up to celiac. Reason for connection...

Well, this is to testify that my husband and I have an "alternative" lifestyle Being gluten free is an "alternative" lifestyle And, if you annoy me I will put you on ignore, but I really won't - I just want you to think you're being ignored. How's that for creating paranoia.... ha ha ha ha -- I'm in a silly mood.

ARCHIVED Sir Winston Churchill

Cathy, I think you and I have same taste in books. Have you ever read "Gone with the Wind." I also recommend any of the older Leon Uris books like Exodus. -
ARCHIVED I Need Some Advice On Being
debmidge replied to Turtle's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
this might sound too simplistic but my MOH didn't do this for me and I think it's important: On the day of the wedding, please help her not trip over her very long bridal veil, help her from tripping over the veil mixing with the hem of the dress; keep her from shoving her high heel through the end of her veil. That means help her get in and out of... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Misdiagnosed?
debmidge replied to probonohoe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here too -- hubby misdiagnosed for 27 years. It's a sad fact. Last gastro he went to diagnosed him; one before that told him that he needed mental help for his "food issues." he didn't even want to be told there was malabsorption going on. Let me stop before I get accused of doctor bashing because I just can't help going in that direction when... -
why is it that you turn 40 or 50 and finally have the self confidence you didn't have a younger woman and BOOM! Nature takes it course and you are staring at a middle aged, slightly wrinkled, slightly saggy woman when you look in the mirror. You got it all together finally and BOOM! you're back to square one..... I have never felt more self-confident...

ARCHIVED Is There A Way Of Making This Site Look More Like Work?
debmidge replied to Matilda's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
When I worked at bank, it was a major bank known throughout the world, co workers' would turn in other co workers when they saw them using internet for personal use - that's if the snitch was kissing butt and that was the rule there, rather than the exception. So even if you were on lunch hour you could either be found out through the firm's using spy... -

ARCHIVED Is There A Way Of Making This Site Look More Like Work?
debmidge replied to Matilda's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
I've worked for a bank and they block out certain websites some as stupid as state run lottery websites. They did audits at random (check thru main computer as to who is looking at at what site and when - no one ever knows). Place I work at now has similar rules and it's not a bank. Also I never used internet during work time for personal, at bank... -
ARCHIVED Amish School (if No Interest, Please Skip)
debmidge posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The Amish do not take out health insurance and the families of the children who were injured are affected the most. There are websites and info for us "outsiders/English" if we are interested in their dilema and want to help them. Please PM me if you would like this information. I'd post it here but I don't want anyone to construe this as an "Advertisement... -
I understand your situation, I am sure that my husband joined the "Ailment of the Month club" this year. I so want to cancel his membership ASAP. Hope all goes smoother for you and health issues get resolved. Deb

ARCHIVED Officially Lost Last Shred Of Faith In Medical Community
debmidge replied to lawstudent's topic in Doctors
Lawstudent If need be, tell us your city and state and perhaps someone on board knows as good GP or GI that will see you. As to the reflux, are they saying that it was a Pre-existing condition and that's why it isn't covered? And by the way, this is a safe place to vent; I've done it many a time myself. See our info below. Don't let anyone deter... -
We do not go to restaurants..too much risk. I don't have children so I don't know about groups....there might be a ROCK group in Livingston area. If can, call the Celic Sprue Assn at 877-CSA-4CSA. Ask them about Raising Our Celiac Children in your area; as far as I know, there are no support groups for adults in our area ( I am in northern Union...

ARCHIVED Maple Syrup
debmidge replied to deena647's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Mike uses the pure Maple syrup; I am crazy I guess - I blend it with the brand name syrup (like Log Cabin, etc.) as pure Maple has too strong a taste for me. It makes the brand name syrup taste better though. -

ARCHIVED New Development-nothing To Do With celiac disease
debmidge replied to debmidge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Mike's last PSA was done during Jan 05 and it was a low normal number....he skipped getting one in 2006; so he's due. I don't know - if this turns serious prostrate probem - if he is strong enough for the harsh chemo/laser or radioactive treatments. He's very frail (he's only 56 years old). My current quest it to find out if meds like Proscar are... -

ARCHIVED How Gluten Helped Me Meet My Husband
debmidge posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I sort of forgot one detail about how my husband and I met. I was working temporarily in a deli, at the front counter where the breads and bakery goods were. On 7/4/74 my Mike came in the store to buy a hard roll for lunch (pre-celiac disease days). He left after purchase and returned aboug 20 minutes later to deliberately purchase another roll and... -
ARCHIVED 2005 Toyota Camry
debmidge replied to floridanative's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
love my 2005 Camry (6 cylinder, 24 Valve)...seats are so-so, the Chevrolet Malibu I looked at had less comfortable seats than the Camry and my husband, who is medim height felt camped in the drivers seat. IMHO the only way to get good seats is to buy higher priced car, like a Buick Regal or the small Jaguar. The Corolla seats were uncomfortable... -
