  1. to have opinions on a fact will result in open discussion and differences of opinion. If someone truly has learned information that will prove and document a fact then they do have the knowledge or education to advise others. to have opinions on a "feeling" or on a subjective matter is touchy. I no longer engage in this type of discsussion because...
  2. Vincent; from I understand it, the reason why you'd order "pie" for pizza in NJ is that word pizza in Italian (might) mean "pie" in English. Now this is the reasoning I got from my Italian side of the family.
  3. I am interested in renting a used vehicle (a compact car) for short term, say 6 mos.... anyone have any warnings or advice for me before I do this?
  4. curious to know how other insurance workers deal with issues at their work or issues with insurance work in general. I've been working at agency level for over 25 years...I just fell into this industry; wasn't my intention from the start. I am 75% done with CPCU and don't have the energy to finish.
  5. ..and then there's the ever popular potato toy: Mr. Potato Head. With 25# I am sure you have one to spare to design one....
  6. Tiffany, Thanks.. I called manufacturer Warner Chilcott and confirmed it's gluten-free & as a matter of fact the Cust Ser Rep I spoke with there believes her son may have celiac disease so we talked a little celiac disease symptom talk while I was on phone with her. Also the Generic of this made by Amide is gluten-free as well. Thanks...
  7. I was thinking the same thing.....
  8. In movies New Jerseyians are shown as using the word "joisey" for Jersey and I don't know anyone here in NJ tht speaks that way. And I too would say " I want a large chocolate milkshake" if I were in McDonald's ....so people from Boston order a milkshake in a different way? I've worked with people from NY who say "laww-ya" for lawyer and "bott...
  9. I know a lot of people use lists and I have been leaning towards getting Clan Thompson; got myself in a pickle as I need to know if the Brand Name of Pyridium (Warner Chilcott) is gluten-free. You how it goes, you see Dr. in evening, drug companies are closed, pharmacy is no help and you don't know who to ask if the prescription you are about to...
  10. Lynne: For my job I talk to people from all over the country and when I get a southerner on the phone I absolutely adore talking to them. I enjoy their accents and would miss it if they all "Northern Up" - I like them just the way they are. I've been speaking to people from south so long that, as in my post about my cousin, it just takes me several...
  11. I had been on OuterBanks a few times now and I have two cousins from NJ originally who live there year round & have for over 10 years . One of the cousins (male) has developed an accent of the region and I have to really listen to him when he speaks because I can't figure out what he is saying until 30 seconds after he speaks. (They moved there...
  12. I have found that if I use even a couple of tablespoons more water than I should my bread sinks in the center when it's done.
  13. Sketch due to overlong time in getting correct diagnosis, my husband developed GERD and ulcer of small intestine. So there's a connection and he too cannot digest fruits, vegetables and spices either along with gluten. He has a very restrictive diet too (as well as some others on this board). One of foods he cannot tolerate either is soy. Let...
  14. My post will only serve to repeat Tracy's (above). Generally corn, for a celiac's purpose, is gluten free. Many commercial cereal grain companies will process it in the same plant and sometimes same machinery as a gluten grain, this would cause cross contamination - which again would depend on whether they clean the machines before changing grains and...
  15. Once I had a "midnight" noise problem with a neighbor and the solution was to put a complaint into our town's Health Dept. I had to prove it was keeping me awake and yes, it was and I had Ambien prescription receipts and Dr.'s receipts to prove it. The moment I mentioned Board of Health the problem got resolved. It took me almost 2 years to get to this...
  16. to Desperate Need of Fiber: Is the constipation every day or only a few times a week? Have you ever used Zelnorm prescription? Have you ever had a lower GI test or an MRI of intestines? To check for bowel adhesions or kinks?
  17. oh those cakes.....well they deserved to be burnt, they were not gluten-free. Do you think the poster using the name "Alfred" was a coincidence then?
  18. Happy New Year...blessings wished for health and happiness for you and yours.
  19. Glad it was resolved to your benefit. Happy for you that this wait is over now and so is the worry. D.
  20. That's the $20 million question. Many have ran that same question thru their minds and no one really knows for sure why this happens. Hopefully it's changing now.
  21. not to go off subject, but you always throw out something that intrigues me.....tell us about the burned cakes...or at least what year and what were the circumstances and I go and look it up ...

  23. He goes for B12 shots monthly and takes the sublingual supplements....I would have to agree about DQ1 genes, it appears that way.
  24. I have to confess, I too thought it was a "fad" diet when I heard of it over 15 years ago. I thought it was some kick that health food people went on or body builders did, so something for some obsure reason that had nothing to do with a disease. Boy was I wrong....
