  1. I understand that these type of books can be accessed thru Google; does anyone know the website address for this book search? I've tried but can't find it. Thanks. Debbie
  2. homemade is best but when you need something quick you can open up a Dinty Moore. as far as we know it's gluten-free.
  3. I am a big JC Penney mail order shopper and always use the promotional code in order to get their current mail order discount. However, most of the time I do not get my "post card which states the code" until after the sale expires. Either they mail out too late or my post office is lazy - no way to tell which is the reason. Anyway, I thought...
  4. This certainly sounds like an emergency to me. It sounds like a nerve is exposed. Too bad you have to wait until Monday.... There are dental things you can buy at drugstore like wax to put over the tooth. it might not stay on while you are eating...but you can try it.
  5. Look into the soy angle. Soy can give almost same reaction as gluten. Some tuna also has casein in it (canned tuna) - if dairy sensitive that too can be a trigger.
  6. Recieved advertising from Gluten Solutions and they are offering a brand of gluten-free bread called Bry's. Anyone know anything about this bread? Ad says that they have been making this for 7+ years now.
  7. ....just wanted to chime in...the abbreviations do keep me from understanding the posts sometimes. I would have said "D" is diarrhea ... I read somewhere that abbreviations are good when you are communicating one on one with someone, but not in general communications as it could lead to miscommunications. One example of this is a doctor's prescription...
  8. Italian restaurant in Clark, NJ has a section of menu that's gluten-free Aliperti's 1189 Raritan Road Clark NJ 732-381-2300 www.alipertisrestaurant.com (they are mentioned in the current edition of Living Without Magazine) They also showed: Janice-A Bristro, 23 Sheridan Ave., Ho-ho-Kus NJ 201-445-2666 Foods by George 3 King St. ...
  9. are you sure your gram doesn' t have beginnings of alzheimers? Aggressive behavior is one of the symptoms & change in personality.
  10. Honestly I saw the photo of Brit & Paris in local newpaper (photo with fishnets being shared) and at first I thought it was a story the paper was running about hookers in Atlantic City being scared of this serial killer there. Then I read the blurb and saw it was those two just making pigs of themselves again.
  11. Best bought bread: Kinnickick (spelling?) Best bread crumbs: see above
  12. 'ray!!!! That's great!
  13. thanks but that's exactly the same location that I am 25 miles away from and you know Jersey traffic, a 15 minute trip can take an hour due to so much traffic. I'd rather do mail order than drive over an hour back and forth to a store, esp. with gas prices this high. I live near Essex county (yes whole foods is in West Orange but it's about 20 miles in...
  14. I agree that most of the difficult doctors are the "old school" group and when you read my posts understand that the time frame would be when these "old school" doctors were practicing. Most of the younger Drs. are "getting it" and doing something about it. Not all Drs are money grubbers; but you scratch your head and wonder about the ones who refuse...
  15. Tiffany, it is a "kickback" of sorts....let's say it's a heart drug & Dr. is cardiologist. If he's their "top" prescriber he is sitting pretty. I have had a GP refuse to give me a radioactive thyroid uptake test to see if I had thyroid cancer because he was at the end of the year (December) and didn't want any more major testing going on because...
  16. I hate to be the dissenter, but I'd be thankful enough to have my local Whole Foods even have these flours available. They are so small that they do not and they keep cutting their stock; for instance they sell only one Ener-G product when just 3 years ago they had several. I have to rely on mail order more and more lately. I'd be happy if I could walk...
  17. I have to disagree with this as I have relatives in pharma field and doctors who prescribe a lot of one manufacturers products gets "perks" -- maybe not money but vacations, $$ for speaking engagements, etc. They are first on the list for these perks. That is how the money is tied in at times. I am also told that the doctors "vie" for this extra...
  18. sorry to hear about him Patti, wishing for the best possible outcome for him.... D.
  19. I don't mind Christmas starting in November....I am always behind when it comes to holidays and it serves as a good reminder that Christmas is coming, otherwise I'd start my shopping and Christmas cards too late. I am the person who puts the all Christmas music station on in car on 11/22. This being said, our extreme consumerism isn't healthy. ...
  20. Husband got this several months after going gluten-free and still has it. It encompasses the leg too and neurologist can't find cause (diabetes ruled out).....apparently he just has to live with it.
  21. is your bread too tall or too wide?
  22. would love to have gluten-free manicotti or ravioli with ricotta cheese (no vegetables). Does this exist?
  23. Tell me more about Heidi, never heard of her....
  24. that's good. although we've been glaze free for so long that hubby is uninterested in using gluten-free glaze, he's so used to the plain taste that the glaze tastes weird.
