I strongly second the Open Original Shared Link and the Foods By George
Perhaps look @ this thread:

Very cool... uhh, I don't know where to start. Just saying that it's great that you'll do something like that for us and keep us posted! I'll sleep on this one.

Wheat-Free, Worry-Free by Danna Korn and Shelley Case's book...I concur.

I feel bad, now. Not doing much for awareness. I don't send letters to people, cause most of the doctors I have gone to know about it and the ones I'm currently going to already know enough. And I'm a pretty shy person, so with the food being a social stigma, I feel most comfortable not going into the fullblown details.
You guys make them aware and I can help once they're diagnosed

Okay, I've been remiss in my posting articles, but I'll post them now:

I saw in one post that someone was 7... I had to look at it twice. Maybe it was a typo. I think it was in the recent thread where someone asked for help with a survey for medical school or something
I think that might have been the child's mother posting for the child...

Israel and Australia--wow! It's always cool to see places on the board that are far away from where I am !
I know, lol. I was shocked to see two in a row from different continents

I had one terribly incompetent doctor, two very good drs., and now I have all phenomenal doctors...
1st pediatrician -- terrible...kept dismissing my symptoms (from both celiac and malrotation) as being an attempt at getting attention or childhood allergies that I would outgrow.
2nd pediatrician -- thought he knew what it was, didn't really, but at least he realized he might not know, so he referred me to a GI. Retired so I needed a new pediatrician
1st GI -- diagnosed celiac, but didn't know what to do once I kept getting sick--didn't do anything for about 8 months...that's why he gets a mixed review. Great to diagnose, poor with treatment.
2nd GI -- Absolutely the best doctor I've ever had in any area. Great person, extremely knowledgeable about celiac and everything else. Persistent with testing and found malrotation!
3rd pediatrician -- Very good so far......
That's all for my lengthy review of doctors!

You've put up an avatar before, so I doubt it's this, but are you editing personal picture options, rather than avatar options? Trying to update it with a personal picture would result in the error message that you're not allowed to do that and you should contact the admin. I doubt that that was the problem, but just want to rule that out first.

Yes, I've tried those same crackers. I don't think they taste exactly the same, but they look the same and I like them. I wouldn't eat them normally, cause they don't have a lot of flavor, but prior to gluten-free I ate Saltines when I was sick and these have (or should I say, HAD, since I've been healthy the past few months) served the same purpose.

Thanks Donna for drawing attention to it & celiac3270 for explaining how to access it!
Sure. New name (from gapspan to bellytimber)....what prompted that change?
-
Haha!!!

I was there, too! Maybe I saw you
but of course, didn't know who you were. It was a terrific conference and I agree that GIG is a terrific group--in my opinion, the best national celiac support group. I was skeptical about how much I would learn--I thought that it might be a more basic thing for newbies, etc, but I learned so much!

I agree, but had, at times, wondered the same thing. Thank you!

Congratulations!
I bet you're sleepy now, right?

I get it at my local grocery store. Hy-Vee for 3.49 a bag.
Then if you're only going to get a few bags, it's a good deal, but if you are buying or want to buy in bulk, then you're better off with the internet.

Oh, I'm sorry...is this for diagnosis or follow-up? If follow-up, then different standards apply, such as: gene testing isn't necessary.....
With the follow-up, they would be looking for the antibody levels to go down...
Sorry, I'm not familiar with your story.
-
Your doctor, if running a full celiac panel will do the AGA IgA, AGA IgG, EMA, Total serum, and the tTG.
The AGA tests (IgA and IgG) are considered pretty useless now. The two that should definitely be run are the EMA and the tTG. Those are the two most accurate (the tTG is the best). An endoscopy should also be run, and you might want to do gene testing.
With the blood work, they're looking for antibodies. These antibodies, in celiacs, are much higher than in that of the regular population and presence of them signifies a reaction to gliadin.

On the Chebe...that's about it:
- No shipping if you order from Open Original Shared Link
- Most people I have talked to like the Chebe bread mix as a pizza crust, rather than the actual pizza crust mix.
- And if you buy in bulk, the price goes down. For example, if you buy it in the smallest possible unit (that is, eight bags of it), it comes out to $4 per bag. But if you buy twenty-four packages (that is, 3 "cases" -- though the boxes aren't that big) it's $2.79 per bag. And for 6 boxes, or 48 bread mixes, it's $2.38 per bag. So the more you buy, the cheaper it is. And if you have a celiac friend who also likes it, and you don't want that much, you can order together and save money that way.

Kind of funny
and yet, kind of disturbing

That's really nice...[that they would listen to you and be so careful]. And Happy Father's Day to you and the other dads here, however few there are.

Arby's nutritional information is here: Open Original Shared Link Pretty unhelpful, actually...doesn't show next to each product whether it contains gluten, but this is what I found from the SillyYaks Restaurant Guidebook (which I'm still sending to anyone who wants it). It had two columns: one to avoid, one to have...this was on the "have" side:
