My answer to the first one would be that if you feel better without gluten, then that's raeson enough to be gluten-free...many here don't have a formal diagnosis.
The second reason makes sense, but with 1/133 having celiac in the first place, I think everyone should be tested regardless...celiac is too common and has such powerful long-term adverse effects NOT to be tested--regardless of symptoms or lack thereof. With the third, it basically comes down to how willing you are to be painstakingly careful about this--if you'd do it without knowing for sure, diagnosis isn't necessary, if you'd rather know for sure, then testing would probably be better.

LOL...yea, I was just coming back here to ask you if you got the one I just reported. Good
-
Weird...Scott will straighten it out, though...he always does
-
Yes. Just e-mail, PM, or post your e-mail address and I'll send it.
-
Kaiti, have you gotten any of the test reports? I am getting the PM notification...
-
-
I don't know, but there have been a few things that have been not working and that Scott has corrected--one of which was the board clock. It had been off 12 hrs. before, but now it's corrected. Contact him about these issues by PM or at Open Original Shared Link

MSG, like gluten, is in most processed foods. Red345 had made some lengthy posts on MSG; I know there's a thread under related disorders. Lemme check:

There are over 200 symptoms that can be associated with celiac disease. Fatigue is actually a very common one.
Fatigue is THE MOST COMMON one...even ahead of diarrhea.
-
Yea, I forgot to mention, you have NO PAIN SENSORS in your intestine where they will be taking the biospys from, so you will not feel that.
I slept for several hours after the procedure... hehe.
True--you won't feel it. I was also exhausted after. I wanted to sleep even more!

Yes, it means casein free

That's weird. Usually they give the above response or something very similar with just a few changes in wording. Sometimes they give you the below part about other products, sometimes just the products that they gurarantee are gluten-free.

Crappers.... Is my Sprite okay? I'd die without it !
It is...if you e-mail Coca-Cola they'll send you an e-mail like this:
Thank you for contacting The Coca-Cola Company.
We are able to confirm that Coca-Cola classic, caffeine free Coca-Cola
classic, Coca-Cola C2, Diet Coke, Diet Coke with Lemon, Diet Coke with
Lime, caffeine free Diet Coke, Sprite, Sprite ReMix Berryclear, Diet
Sprite Zero, vanilla Coke, diet vanilla Coke, cherry Coke, Fresca, and
our 100% juice products (without added ingredients) are gluten free.
Additionally, we can tell you that all of our other products meet
Codex's definition of gluten-free, which is less than 200 ppm (0.02%)
gluten. Codex has examined the data and determined that less than 200 ppm
gluten is below the level in which people with celiac disease would
experience adverse reactions. However, at this time the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration does not have a regulatory definition of gluten-free.
We can assure you that the exact amount of gluten in these products is
very low - perhaps even zero. Some minor ingredients in these products
are manufactured from plants that gluten-sensitive people could react
to, so we are unable to state categorically that they are totally
gluten-free even though they may have undetectable levels of gluten in them.
The Codex guideline provides a very low threshold for gluten content
and exposures below this level are not expected to result in damage to
the majority of gluten-sensitive individuals. However, extremely
gluten-sensitive individuals should discuss consumption of these products with
their health care provider.
We hope that this information is helpful. Should you have additional
questions or comments, please visit our website again.

Like I said, I don't have any qualifications to be writing in this thread, nonetheless, I, like Michelle, get the impression that putting it that way is...intimidating and a little blunt. Celiac disease, gluten intolerance, allergy to wheat, rye, and barley all seem a little softer....

Coca-Cola hasn't found that any of their products are not gluten-free, but many have not been tested, such as Fanta that I mentioned. Additionally, those not on the list may have trace amounts of gluten, but are consistently low enough to be considered gluten-free. They're just covering their rears so they won't generally come out and say it if you e-mail.
Just for future reference, all soft drinks made by Pepsi, Co. are gluten-free. That of course, applies not only to Pepsi, diet Pepsi, etc., but all the other SODA PRODUCTS, such as Sierra Mist, Mountain Dew, Mug Root Beer, and all varieties of Pepsi (Pepsi Twist, Vanilla, One, Wild Cherry, Diet, etc.):

Remember that this does not apply to other beverages, just the soda/carbonated beverages. This information is available by going to the "ask lisa" section of the website. Type in "gluten" and they'll give yo the option to ask "Do your products contain gluten?" The answer (the corn syrup they refer to is about corn gluten, not gluten that hurts us):
There is no gluten in any soft drink produced by Pepsi-Cola Company in North America. Although high fructose corn syrup is derived from corn, the technology used in making this sweetener completely removes the protein fractions, leaving no residuals in the finished sweetener.
This applies to corn gluten and glutens that hurt us, such as wheat.

I've had two with no issues...slight sore throat after the first, no symptoms after the second. LOL...yes, the worst part is not eating. I was nervous for the first as well, but the second was a breeze since I was familiar with the procedure. I was put out completely for both--they often do that with kids. It doesn't hurt, you won't throw up, and you shouldn't gag because they spray the back of your throat to stop the gag reflex (temporarily, of course
)

Don't know about how it would affect the SCD, but you mentioned Prilosec OTC in the title. Were you inquiring about whether it's gluten-free or not? My doctor had me take it for a few months and it is gluten-free.

I'm happy to send the list and am still getting requests. The site has a constantly updating restaurant list, recipe database, e-mail responses from companies are uploaded, as well as member discounts:
10% at Gluten Solutions: Open Original Shared Link
10% at Miss Roben's/Allery Grocer: Open Original Shared Link
I'm not sure how much at Gluten-Free Savonnerie: Open Original Shared Link . Someone posts at the board with updates on discounts and sales available multiple times a month.
5% at the Gluten Free Pantry: Open Original Shared Link
Some of these sites use special links and others have a code you enter at checkout. Am I allowed to post the links and stuff here? I'll ask Melonie if she would mind, but it's worth joining, anyway.

Why about the grill? Definitely an element of feeling manly in cooking meat over those roaring flames
. I don't like to cook, period--explanation: ineptitude and perhaps a degree of laziness
Sorry, Vincent, but we're outnumbered. I'm not going against the majority on this one

Vincent,
You have the UK site, so that doesn't apply to the US...but your statement was correct about Centrum products in the USA.
