  1. Hot dogs: Oscar Mayer (bun length are fine... check on the others- most are gluten-free) Peanut butter: Skippy, Jiff, Reese's... Ice Cream: Haggen-Dazs (everything except obvious, such as cheesecake, cookies and cream), Edy's has a flavor finder online where you can search for gluten-free flavors, but again most are gluten-free). Vanilla/choc/strawberry...
  2. Actually, for those of you who have trouble using the search engine here, you could always use Google's. 1. Go to google.com 2. Choose "advanced search" (URL is: Open Original Shared Link 3. Type in your search query in the blue "find results" area at the top. 4. Go to "domain" further down and choose "only" and type in "glutenfreeforum.com" 5. Click...
  3. Brooklyn? How about a gluten-free bakery? Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Read more about it here: Open Original Shared Link (3rd post down, I think) I think there's also some sort of gluten-free, veggie restaurant thing... Kristina (Mysuicidalturtle) went to a restaurant when she was in NY, which I believe was in...
  4. I remembered them BEING gluten-free, but I hadn't remembered actually seeing those specific words on the container. Anyway, whenever it was added, it probably wasn't there five years ago, or ten years ago... and in conjunction with the progress we've made with other brands, these are great steps.
  5. Just want to quickly comment... I had always known it was gluten-free, but I just looked at the ingredients list to be sure and guess what? It had "Gluten-free" written below the ingredients list! First Stax, then some other companies, now even the chocolate pudding--we're making great strides with these labels.
  6. I had the same error message earlier....
  7. There's a much easier way. See the quote button below every post? Click on it and it turns red. So click on all of the quote buttons beneath the posts you wish to quote. When you've selected all of them, click the add reply button at the bottom and they're all there--dates, user names, and all.
  8. Exactly... that's what I meant, but I was unable to express it as well as this
  9. The hydrogenated cottonseed oil is fine. And hydrogenated ingredients are fine... hydrogenated just means treated with or exposed to hydrogen--no gluten there. Anything with natural flavors is questionable, so you have to check on the product.
  10. I know what you mean. There's not really much you can do about it. I guess the best advice is to try not to let it bother you. It doesn't matter what they think--you're the one who has to eat it, not them. And don't worry if you feel the same way initially. It takes awhile to get used to, but eventually the gluten-free version tastes "normal" and it...
  11. I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, it's just that I'm slightly perplexed by how Celiac makes us in tune with the universe. I'm not being negative, but rather expressing confusion as to how the two are related. Finally, the Latin derivative correction was merely factual.
  12. The word Celiac is derived from the Latin, coeliacus, meaning cavity, hole, etc. in reference to the gut. It also has greek derivation of a similar nature. There is no correlation between caelum, -i (heaven) and Celiac, though. It just wouldn't make any sense. We may be more attentive to our health because we have to be, but I think other people with...
  13. I don't think so. Sorry....
  14. BUMP
  15. Ha . No problem Actually, I have another suggestion about font sizes if you have trouble reading the actual posts, or any other signatures. For those who use Mozilla Firefox, if you ever run across a site with font too small (or a forum page), hold ctrl and press the + button. It makes all of the font larger. Likewise, ctrl and - makes it smaller...
  16. Argh... now I need to find a new frosting (other than the Duncan Hines homestyle).
  17. I guess the obvious answer would be to get allergy tests to see if you have issues with dairy, soy, corn, etc.
  18. Of course--when you're married and probably more mature, you are free to make those decisions. I am taking the stance that people of my age aren't capable of making such decisions, for a number of reasons. For example, there is an inherent mental difference between the mind of a juvenile and that of an adult. The juvenile has an underdeveloped pre-frontal...
  19. I concur most vehemently , which is why my signature reflects my anti-Altoid stance. Youth these days are getting too loose with their Altoids, and I'm representing the call for a reform of these ways. Altoids need to be taken seriously.
  20. LOL, you used the word glutened in your explanation of glutened/glutening. But you defined it fine... it's our made-up term for having consumed gluten.
  21. Duncan Hines (homestyle frostings--they came out with some new line that's not gluten-free). Just to save you the effort, Betty Crocker is not (I remember Karen's story of putting Betty Crocker frosting on an otherwise gluten-free cake).
  22. Yes--did you read the story awhile ago about the girl with the peanut allergy who died after kissing her boyfriend who had eaten a pb & j sandwich a few hours earlier? Same thing, only most celiacs don't have such adverse reactions to gluten unless they simultaneously have a wheat allergy. There are actually a number of very large topics on this matter...
