  1. I also have osteopenia (31 years old) and just recently have had all the vitamin and mineral levels checked (still waiting for results). The dr said that low vita D can cause deep bone pain and fatigue. This is something that should be dealt with by either supplementation or injections as our bodies don't always recognize the good stuff because of celiac...
  2. Hi, I was diagnosed by my neuro-opthomoligist with Sjogren's syndrome which is characterized by chronic dry eyes, mouth and mucous membranes. My eyes were not producing enough tears to keep the eyes at optimal moisture levels. The symptoms are the same ones you have mentioned. I had punctual plugs put in the tear ducts (not a painful procedure, but expensive...
  3. I received a reply from WW regarding my email and they are forwarding it the editors. I requested a retraction of some sort so will have to wait and see. They admitted the email was incomplete and inaccurate and will be more through in the future.
  4. I wasn't shooting down the book at all. I was shooting down the lack of information the article showed. I have not read the book and would never comment on it till I did. The way she was quoted in the article was probably misleading and wrong. The article was written by Womans World not her, I realize that. Hopefully when she reads it she will feel as...
  5. As you can see from the vast amount of information available that it is imperative one keeps up on all of the changes. Doctors don't have the time i guess. In the end it is up to the individual to decide when enough is enough. Thank you for your response it does sound like you do your research. You have to have all info available when making such important...
  6. Do your liver enzymes go up and down with fatty liver or does it depend on what you eat etc? I was told this is my problem and to get the biopsy if symptoms persist. I haven't yet even though it is persisting. Does the biopsy hurt? Are you asleep for this or awake?
  7. For me the endo was necessary as I have no relief of symptoms from the gluten free diet alone. They had to do it to rule out other things, cancer being one of them. In fact the biopsies were only suggestive of celiac and that there could be another problem causing the villious atrophy. Celiac is not the only disease that can cause this in the intestine...
  8. Anybody have any ideas?
  9. While I agree with the fact that you can lose weight on this diet. The part that was so wrong is that they made Celiac look like a "diet", a choice. This article was insensitive. If controlling Celiac was a simple as following the diet this forum would not exist. We could talk all day about the proper way to test for Celiac. I don't disagree about bloodwork...
  10. I was curious what these test results mean IGG antibody negative (tissue transglutaminase) IGA antibody negative gliadin antibody positive (barely) When these were done I hadn't even heard about celiac so I was eating gluten (lots of it) everyday. Shouldn't the test results be alot higher? Since then all bloodwork has been negative. I...
  11. I had posted elsewhere and was told that bloodwork is the only thing you have to do to diagnose celiac and the endoscopy was usless. How then can you have full blown Celiac with negative bloodwork? How do they tell? Just curious as there seems to be conflicting advice.
  12. I have had this pulsating feeling in the middle to upper abdomin for a few days now. Sort of like a muscle twitching feeling. I have not eaten gluten or anything else due to my pancreas acting up so it's not related to that. I also have some mid back pain with it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
  13. I also had severe endo, which I choose to have a complete hyto for. However, I have 3 children (two are twins) after being told I would never conceive. The pregnancies were difficult and I was on bedrest for both due to premature labor but the kids were healthy. I didn't know I had Celiac at this time or it could have been different. I choose not to do...
  14. Fellow Celiacs, I just finished reading an article in a poplular magazine. Woman's World, May 1st issue. The article is " A hidden food allergy may be making you fat..." While any publicity this horrible disease can get is usually a good thing, this article turns Celiac into something that needs to be the next diet trend. There is absolutely no mention...
  15. Hi and welcome, You absolutely have to eat gluten before the biopsy in order to get accurate results.
  16. Hi and welcome, I too have this symptom but it is due to water retention. Despite being gluten free I still have edema problems due to other autoimmune issues so I take a prescribed diuretic for this (as needed). Celiac will effect your life in many ways and lots of symptoms you may be experiencing will be due to gluten. I also had too much...
  17. Hi, I too had a terrible time around that time of the month. I was not yet diagnosed with Celiac but did get diagnosed with Endometriosis. This will give you terrible cramps, D, pain etc during your period. They are starting to find a link between celiac and endo. (surprise surprise) I have since then had a complete hystorectomy (age 27, Im now 31...
  18. Hi and welcome to the board!!! Blood work is not enough. An endoscopy is the only way to truly diagnose Celiac and or rule it out. Your doctor (bless his ignorance) doesn't seem to know the first thing about celiac, otherwise he would know that a colonoscopy is the wrong test. I would suggest going to a gastroenterologist because the diagnosis is...
  19. You're not supposed to eliminate gluten until after the biopsy. I suggest doing your own research as these sites can get pretty confusing. Too many different opinions. Good Luck. (you will need it)
  20. Ever watched Nightline, 20/20 or CNN? The burger and bun looked the same, just alittle dry. So no, I don't think that's a "silly statement"!!!!
  21. McDonalds can make anyone feel glutened. My non celiac family takes turns in the bathroom after eating that junk. Did you know a McDonalds hamb can keep for nine years without molding. I think if you are trying to be healthier by remaining celiac free... fast food should also be off the menu.
  22. You're welcome
  23. Try Wellbutrin XL 300mg per day. Works like a charm for the depression and anxiety. Tricylics and other antidepresants will cause you to gain weight and will quite working in about 3 months so you have to keep getting more and more and more. so not use St John's Wort if you have other autoimmune conditions as this supplement may interact. do your research...
  24. Slim Fast has now come up with gluten free and lactose free optima shakes. I have been using these products for about 2 weeks along with a low and friendly carb diet and have lost 4 pounds and 2% body fat. I have yet to start a structured exercise program but do walk for at least 15 to 30 minutes a day. So far this is the only thing working for me. They...
  25. Sounds like you have a sensitivity to nightshades. (potatoes, onions, peppers etc) The itching sounds like it may be related to a yeast overgrowth. If you have been on antibiotics lately or have been consuming a large amount of simple sugars this could be your culprit. I had so much yeast that it turned into systemic candidasis. There was so much it...
