I was searching for information on restaurants that offer a gluten free menu and found this really great article. Thought I'd share... Open Original Shared Link Sorry, I'm not sure how to put it as a link, but if you copy and paste in your browser, you should get there. Also, has anyone tried Pei Wei? We have a new one in my area and I love...

ARCHIVED Help With What To Eat For Lunches
olalisa replied to runnerjen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
To add to your "easy stuff" list, try the Lean Cuisine glazed chicken with rice. I think that's the only one that's gluten free, but I do eat it sometimes when I'm in a pinch. It's pretty good. That plus a piece of fruit or a yoplait yogurt fills me up pretty well. Enjoy! -
I actually had a very good experience there. The chef/head cook came out and talked to me and suggested a steak (not sure how that's listed on their menu) along with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. When I told him about my concerns with CC and mashed potatoes, he said that they make them fresh each morning and then portion them individually in plastic...

ARCHIVED Do Any Biopsy-positive Celiacs Get Offended When Someone With
olalisa replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
wow. what a great thread. And I'm happy that it has not deteriorated into an "I'm more celiac than you" contest here and really is about supporting one another. I happen to be "blood-test and biopsy proven" but I don't think that makes me any more intolerant than if I had never had a test, eh? That said, I'm actually glad that I have the "proof" to back... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Sausage
olalisa posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Can anyone tell me what mainstream brands of sausage are safe? And which are your favorites? I'm looking for both breakfast sausage and for the big linky kind that goes in red beans and rice THANKS! -
Hi Everyone. I'm hoping you all can help me come up with a yummy finger food for tonight. I want to make something pretty substantial, so if the gluten-free pickin's are slim I won't go hungry at the event. I'd love something with sausage or something else nice and warm and filling:) Also, who knows what mainstream brands of sausage are gluten-free...

One good thing about the triumph dining cards is that they have one for almost every kind of cuisine--mexican, chinese, japanese, indian....you name it. And of course they have "american" cuisine. Each card is in english on one side and the native language on the other. The "american" one is in english and spanish, which is GREAT. There's also a box on...

he could try steak, chicken, or fish grilled with just salt, pepper, and garlic. Tell them to clean the grill, or to use foil or a saute pan. I know you siad he doesn't like veggies, but does he like potatoes? A baked potato is a good choice, too. I always ask for mine uncut. Be sure to stress about cross-contamination. You also might want to order dining...

ARCHIVED Communion Wafer
olalisa replied to linz7997's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am Moravian, so we don't require our wafers to have any wheat. I ordered mine from Ener-g.com and will store them in an airtight container at church where we store the other wafers. That way I can share with the other person with celiac in the congregation. I plan to get my own before the service and let the pastor bless it as he goes by to serve the... -
Open Original Shared Link click on FAQ, then on "useful" then on "next" until you get to gluten/celiac. it gives useful info. (sorry, it wouldn't let me copy the actual page)... I don't eat at Chipotle often, as there isn't one very close to me, but when I travel I love to have their burrito bols. I always explain that I'm "deathly allergic to wheat...

ARCHIVED Zataran's Fish Fry
olalisa replied to olalisa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks so much . I just bought a huge container of it at BJ's....any good ideas on how to use it other than fish? Have you tried chicken or anything else with it? -
Momma Goose, thanks for asking . I actually live in Apex, and all is okay now. I live just on the other side of the evacuation line, which really made me nervous, but we just stayed put, turned off our HVAC system, and rode it out. We had some friends stay with us who had been evacuated. It was a very scary time here, but looks like all is well for now...

ARCHIVED Zataran's Fish Fry
olalisa posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know if Zataran's Fish Fry (which is a cornmeal breading) is gluten free? I read the label and it appears to be, but I'm afraid it may be too good to be true. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks.
