  1. Robbin, Why don't you put your picture up here?
  2. Mine's just my name.......and no Carla and I aren't related. I do like her though.
  3. May I ask a stupid question? Good. Why must you guys sign in anonymous?
  4. From what I've read you need (I think) the equivalent of 3-4 slices of bread a day. That may even be 6. I haven't been through a biopsy but that quantitiy is supposed to be consumed for a minimum of three months to try and get a positive biopsy. Many have still had a negative one. Welcome to the board. Someone who knows more will jump on, hang...
  5. Susan, It's good to hear from you. Have a good evening and a restful nights sleep. Hope your back has forgiven you by morning.
  6. Yes, Scott, Thank you for creating this forum as a branch to your site. I have made some wonderful friends and learned a lot!
  7. I haven't been in Trader Joes. Whole Foods is a pretty big store isn't it? They should be there. Get the large flakes if they have them. Although it really doesn't matter. They also have them at Wild Oats. Your smaller stores don't have them. Health foods stores might. You may even be able to get them online. Amazon seems to carry some harder to...
  8. Off topic.....what is the topic anyway? Cecile, Love your new avatar.
  9. Just fine Celia. Heading off to grab something to eat. Dinner is almost ready.
  10. Poor guy. That doesn't sound like fun at all. Please let us know what the gene test says. Hope he feels better soon, now that the molar has broken through.
  11. Although I don't have pernicious anemia I was prescribed b12 because it was low. I never did give myself a shot because after the one I had my b12 tested and my regular doctor told me it was normal. The doctor gave me the thin needles and the b12 and told me how to do the "shot". If Floridian sees this, she'll post as she has her husband give her her...
  12. Uuummm, if he wants to eat a candy and junk food diet I wouldn't recommend that. j/k I know he wouldn't do that. Make sure he takes something at every meal. With he eat broth? What has he been eating. Fruit is generally easy on the stomach as well as broth. Does his tummy hurt at all or just the general malaise and he doens't have much of an appetite...
  13. Add more food as he can handle and don't worry too much. Keep an eye on him and see if his temp stays down or spikes again.
  14. I had started out researching wheat and gluten allergies and found this site. I learned of enterolab and did their testing. I have learned everything from this board. I was one that didn't have obvious symptoms before going gluten free but do know if I get glutened now. It's interesting to learn about other intolerances and situations that others are...
  15. Lynne, That would be AST and ALT. I don't know what mine were so I can't help there. If they follow what they did with me, they will do another blood draw to check for hepatitis. If that's ruled out then she REALLY, REALLY needs to be tested for celiac. As I pointed out above, I was told that I had fatty liver. Maybe, maybe not. I did test positive...
  16. I've always enjoyed Steve's posts. He always brings in a lot of knowledge and I usually don't respond to his posts as I've nothing to add. One thread got particularly knowledge filled and I had to drop out of reading it.....didn't have the time to keep up with it. I think it was the autoimmune one. Steve, keep up the good work.......please, no more...
  17. Toni, That was on the yeast flakes thread that you asked that. Below is what I copied. You can leave them out without any adverse effects. Changes the flavor a little though. They are totally different than the yeast you bake with. I'm not sure where you live but Fred Meyer/Krogers carries them in the natural food bulk isle. Wild Oats...
  18. (1) I think I got the instant clear jel from Weimar Institute. They do have an online store now. Regular gel would probably work but you'd have to cook and cool it first. The instant clear jel is designed to go into things that don't need to be cooked. Ok, I have to thank you for this question.....I just went and searched for it.....Amazon has it by...
  19. Lynne, I know you are very knowledgeable and I really shouldn't even broach this since you probably know.....but has Ashley been tested for celiac/gluten intolerance? If she has elevated liver enzymes it could be an indicator of celiac. My AST and ALT were elevated 2 years ago, last year they were normal but I don't know if the pregnancy threw things...
  20. Thanks for the update Lynne. It's nice of her grandparents to offer to pay her rent. What is a biometric passport?
  21. If you don't need or want an "official" diagnosis, then get him gluten free and order the enterolab test. If you order the full panel it includes dairy right now, along with the gene test, malabsorption, ttg and IgA antibodies. They also offer soy/yeast/egg test. A gluten free trial will not hurt him at all. Some of his behavioral symptoms could be...
  22. You may have been sensitive to gluten for awhile by the sounds of it. Any of your pregnancies could have triggered it. I don't know the blood work that needs to be done, just the celiac blood panel, it's 5 different tests. Wait, this is something I copied over from this forum a few months back. This poster was responding to someones questions. ...
  23. I am one that didn't have symptoms with eating foods, that I knew of. I had allergy testing done and got the results in April and then went through enterolab in May (see sig). Now if I get glutened I have stomach/intestinal distress until it clears my system but it's not bad. Stay gluten free and I second Ursula. Go soy and dairy free. I would suggest...
  24. Shannon, Go with the first doctor. As the others have said, if you've been gluten free your tests will come back normal. I have a thread I started with gluten, dairy and mostly soy free stuff in the recipes section. I am soy intolerant and don't eat it but posted for others. Please get your daughter gluten free if you're not going to do any...
  25. 29 and holding, right you two?
