ARCHIVED Gluten Vs Non Gluten
AndreaB replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
From what I've read that is quite common. I just followed allergy tests and then enterolab. I am homeschooling my children so I don't need to worry about them going to school and dealing with it. Glad to hear you are already feeling better and welcome to the board. This is a great place to be. -
ARCHIVED Should I Ask To Be Tested?
AndreaB replied to Staciemich's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had elevated enzymes almost two years ago. ALT and AST. They went down last year. They also ran tests for me for hepatitis which came back negative. I had never heard of celiac at that time. I am gluten intolerant anyway. If you don't need an official diagnosis then go gluten free and see if you notice an improvement. From what I have read there... -
ARCHIVED The Best Mousse Recipe Ever!

Has anyone tried this with dark chocolate? I would like to try and find something special to make for my hubby for fathers day. He's not particular, he likes everything. I haven't made any bread or desserts since going on this diet. Waiting for some cookbooks I ordered from Amazon. I know he doesn't want to go overboard with dairy but this sounds so... -

Where are you in Pennsylvania. My SIL lives in Milton. I could contact her and see if she has found it over there. Her and hubby were over here (Washington) for a year and I know she bought Spectrum here. She has said it is harder to find health food type stuff in Pennsylvania as opposed to Washington but she has found some good stores. -
ARCHIVED Soy Milk And Gas

Try to find spectrum if you can. They are sold at health food stores. Fred Meyer/Krorger may have it. Wild Oats has it. I haven't really looked into regular grocery stores. -

Where do you hail from Julie? Arizona, California, New Mexico? I'm trying to think if any other state is elevated both geographically and temperature wise. -
Don't know about me yet. Just recently gluten free and with the baby and not starting my cycle yet, that makes a difference. I used to respond via where I was in my cycle so I'll be curious to see whether that is the same or not. Time will tell.

ARCHIVED What To Do?
AndreaB replied to jojoe72's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have to agree. If you don't need an official diagnosis, then go with gluten intolerance and get back off the gluten. It may be beneficial to see about other intolerances particularily soy and dairy. Soy can do as much damage as gluten to the intestines. It may take time to figure things out and for your body to heal. If you can afford it get the enterolab... -

IMO if you don't NEED an official diagnosis then go with your self diagnosis. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, then it's a duck. In other words stay gluten free and see how much you improve then continue trying to find out if you have other allergies or intolerances. -

Ok, so you're about an hour from high tide. How will the 8 feet translate for you guys? I assume this is on top of the current high. Ahh, sloberry baby kisses. Don't you love them. -

Thanks Rachel, I should have known you would know the answer to that. Isn't malabsorption a measure of damage too? -

I wasn't up any later than she normally keeps me up. She woke up when I was getting ready to go to bed so I stayed up longer. She doesn't like to go to sleep without someone being up. She's being grouchy mostly because the baby smiles and laughs more with my oldest son than with her. I told her I don't control how the baby responds. She doesn't appear... -
Nicole, Don't rush into marriage with this guy anytime soon. This is a big issue and a lifetime diet commitment he needs to decide if he can live with and support. I'm not going to tell you to break up since other posts have mentioned it took some time for sig. others to be fully supportive, but that was my first thought. Marriage is supposed to be...

ARCHIVED A Little Help With Enterolab Results
AndreaB replied to arial12bold's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What does the transglutaminase number mean? For transglutaminase we are all under 10. My family is between 10-15 for IgA so we've cut out gluten. As I understand it it means we have an active intolerance. Is that correct? -

Floridian, We will continue to pray that the back side of this storm doesn't intensify. You give better news reports than the news online. You and Tony sound like great neighbors to have. Wanna move to Washington? Boy is my daughter a grouch! Isn't it nice to start out the morning with a snarl? -

Rachel, I believe they have dolphins in Hawaii also. I'm just one of those annoying people who needs to know EVERYTHING. I'm not satisfied with having unanswered questions...I'm like this in every aspect in life. There is nothing wrong with that. If you had that bad of a malabsorption problem I would think that gluten or soy was behind... -

My hubby wants to add... If all else fails you can be comforted by Gentle Ben. Boy, we've gotten way off track on this thread. I'll be up as long as you would like me to be tonight. I'm three hours behind you. PM me if you want to chat other than this post except for periodic updates. -

Have they mentioned anything about traffic conditions? Keep your chin up. Maybe literally but hope not. O.K. Now for some fun. Did you ever watch Mister Ed? We like the old time shows. Mister Ed, Andy Griffith, Lassie and Little House among a few others. Lassie to the rescue! She'd go through anything. Wouldn't you like to have... -

Floridian, I just read on weather.com that they are predicting the hurricane will hit ground in Taylor County. Doesn't that put some of the danger off of you? It's the storm surge that I would expect to be the most problamatic if the hurricane makes landfal where predicted. -

Floridian, Didn't some people leave earlier today? Couldn't you take the smaller highways to I75? Isn't there anyway out of there? How long have you lived there? Do you know some side roads that would get you into safety without so much traffic? Are you near state route 491? Could you take 491 to 200 to I75? or 491 to 41 to 484 to I75? or 491 to... -

Rachel, Why don't you think the enterolab tests are on the up and up. From everything I've read, they are good. I had my family tested with no info on their sheets except for being tested because of my allergies. We all (except my hubby) tested positive for positive IgA. We all have at least 1 celiac gene. I never had any obvious problems but I... -
ARCHIVED 11 Cavities In A 3 Year Old?
AndreaB replied to floridanative's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If the child ate a lot of candy, sweets, pop, sugar, sugar, sugar, then I would say yes. Also if the child never brushed their teeth I'd say maybe. Something else is going on here (IMO) -
