  1. Rachel, Don't forget that when one of us posts the rest of us hop on to see what's going on. That does add up. That's great that you and your ex still get along so well. Any chance of a reconcile in the future? By the way that website for the Kitchen Defender is www.pureaircleanwater.com. So you don't have to look back for it. Jim MacMahon...
  2. Floridian, I love your new pic to. Babies are so precious. I hadn't seen you new picture, it was still showing the old one but people were making comments on it. I closed out the window and reloaded it and there you were. Rachel, The water systems that Jim sells are not very expensive so to speak. Our kitchen defender cost $275 I think and the...
  3. I've never cooked avocado. It's a very good "fruit" to eat. People usually think of it as a vegetable. It can be served as is in slices, mashed or pureed with other fruits (bananas, pears, applesauce). It may take awhile for him to get used to them. They make a great spread mixed with mayonnaise. I posted a whole bunch of mayonnaise recipes on some...
  4. You don't need cows milk. I do and would like to get back to some cow products, mainly butter. Do you realize that we are the only "creatures" that still drink milk after being weaned? Milk is good on cereal but rice milk or almond milk do just great for that. The calcium is an issue but the other "milks" are fortified. Cheerios, hogwash. That is not...
  5. Bully4You, I like Bellingham as well. I went to WWU for 2 + years up there. Very pretty area. Now I live about 30 minutes from Vancouver WA. Another pretty area but not as picturesque as Bellingham. I would love to try and get to NE Washington but jobs aren't very plentiful there and my hubby is the only income earner as I stay home with the kiddies...
  6. It sounds like he had a reaction to the soy. My husband had a lot of gas with soy as well and we just found out he is intolerant through enterolab. Soy can cause just as much intestinal problems as gluten from what I've read. It is also a cummalative allergen and similar to peanuts. From the same family. Don't know if you would want to try different...
  7. Thanks about my little munchkin. He loves to smile! We went to a family campmeeting in Eastern Washington and one of the speakers is a doctor. I decided to ask him if he had heard of Celiac since it seems so many haven't. He said, "Yes, I've heard of Celiac Disease. I have it." He had wanted to get a picture of Seth because he was such a happy little...
  8. Rachel, You have probably posted this miles back...but do you drink tap water? Some bottled water isn't any better than tap water, don't know if you are aware of that. We just got a water filter for our kitchen called Kitchen Defender that get all the garbage out of the water including flouride. If you are interested in checking it out go to www.cleanairpurewater...
  9. How long have you been vegetarian. Are you totally against eating meat? Do you eat eggs? My family just left off the vegan diet as between us we are allergic to gluten, soy and some beans. Need to try a few others and see how that goes.
  10. I hope the cereal isn't so bad that my husband won't eat it. I just bought some to try. He's not too picky though.
  11. JulieM I have three children and it was my last that alerted me that something may be wrong. I have no symptoms of celiac and don't even know if I have it. I have active IgA antibodies according to enterolab and one each of the celiac and gluten sensitive/intolerant gene. My older two also have active IgA and no known symptoms. My oldest boy has mild...
  12. My understanding is that gluten sensitive and gluten intolerant are the same thing and that it still means no gluten ever.
  13. You didn't say what brand. I have a bosch universal that I bought new. It includes an awesome blender. Very expensive though and don't know if there are any refurbished of those.
  14. If it is gluten free it doesn't have any wheat. Something can be wheat free but not neccesarily gluten free.
  15. Rachel, It could be that the cyst has grown larger and they may need other ultrasounds if they didn't get a good measurment etc. Your uterus and ovaries are pretty low. Your intestines are in between the stomach and uterus. Did you find out about the alkaline urine and what that could mean? My daughter is doing good now. She just got over HSP a...
  16. I am so excited! I went down to Vancouver today to a store that I found out carries Enjoy Life to try some of their products. This market is totally gluten free! The only thing they carry that isn't gluten free is some beer. It is called Loganberries Market for those of you near by. They have many different brands and the prices aren't much...
  17. From what I understand by reading others posts is that children often come back false negative. The gene test would be a good idea. We just had the gene test done through enterolab and found out we all have 2 genes. 2 of us have 2 celiac genes and 2 of us have 1 each of celiac and gluten sensitive. If she had a positive biopsy why does he need more...
  18. I just bought some...I hope they are o.k.
  19. Beth, Welcome to the forum! You will find a lot of wonderful people here with a lot of information. I don't know specifically about the blood tests. Seems they are more accurate than the biopsy. If you already have been tested and found to have celiac than that would mean that the IgA in your blood is elevated. I haven't had any done. ...
  20. Annie, I have to agree with Mango04. I am intolerant to gluten and soy. I tested positive to an allergy to milk but am not intolerant according to enterolab. I'm still hoping to be able to include some dairy products like butter and occassional cheese. Try cutting out both soy and milk and see if that makes a difference. Don't know if you would...
  21. Rachel, Good luck with the ultrasound today. I've had three because of pregnancies and the full bladder is DEFINATELY uncomfortable. You'll do fine though!! My daughter had an ultrasound in March when they were trying to figure out what was wrong with her. It was done at the hospital and we got the results back that night I think, maybe the...
  22. I don't know anything about OAS but is it at all possible for stress to cause the body to react to foods? I'm so sorry Ursula. I know you are limited on your food intake.
  23. Chelsea, That does sound good. I came up positive for dairy allergy (IgE/IgG) done in March but not sensitive/intolerant according to enterolab. Hadn't eaten much dairy over the last 3 years as I was vegan but hoping to go back to it since I don't have the IgA antibodies.
  24. Does anyone know where to buy tapioca flour if it can't be substituted? I need to venture into the baking arena but it seems a lot of recipes call for tapioca flour and I haven't been able to find it.
  25. I don't know if we have celiac or just gluten sensitivity. I remember going shopping with the whole family and getting depressed because I couldn't buy any treats. Now that the whole family is going gluten free we can all be depressed about it. We always would buy cookies or muffins (Wild Oats store). We just got our results back from enterolab and...
