  1. Salad dressings are really pretty easy and most are gluten-free. Of course wheat MUST be listed and barley will almost always show up as malt or malt flavoring. I've found VERY few dressings with gluten, and in my experience it's always been listed. richard
  2. As I said, it could be psoriasis. A dermatologist can tell immediately. richard
  3. Never heard of melatonin causing problems specifically for people with celiac. Didn't cause me any problems when I took it. richard
  4. It's not just a limited number of Boar's Head that's gluten-free, ALL are gluten-free. From their website: Our meats, cheeses, and condiments are all gluten free. If there are other brands being sliced and some of them aren't gluten-free (very, very few deli meats aren't gluten-free), you can have the counter person clean the machine. richard
  5. I'm guessing that with plain frozen vegetables there's very little chance of wheat. I'd eat it. Now if you were talking something like cereal, that's another matter. richard
  6. You will not get sick from touching wheat unless you have a wheat allergy, which you could. The dry flakiness you describe also sounds like possible psoriasis. richard
  7. Yes. Richard
  8. The vast majority of prepackaged deli meats are gluten-free. All Boar's Head and Hillshire Farm and Buddig. Oscar Meyer will clearly list any sort of gluten. richard
  9. As Peter said, it makes no difference at all what the animal is fed. The meat is gluten-free even if the animal eats wheat or barley. richard
  10. If wheat starch is used (I've never seen it) the wheat would by law have to be clearly listed. It cannot just say starch or modified food starch. It would have to say wheat starch. richard
  11. Corn gluten is not a problem. richard
  12. Never seen a plain canned chicken that has gluten. I know this is a generalization, but I've been gluten-free for more than 8 years now. richard
  13. I wish I had a clue, but I don't. If you're strictly gluten-free and you're pregnant, you should most definitely be gaining weight. Just wanted to say good luck and I hope you figure it out. richard
  14. BigDogz, your reaction most certainly was NOT to the Marzetti's, or not to gluten in the Marzetti's. Even IF the culture were started on bread, gluten would not be measurable. I've used it several times, although I prefer to make my own. It's better. richard
  15. In the U.S. bacon is almost without exception gluten-free. We've heard of one small brand, Farmer Johns, that uses soy sauce (very weird) and very clearly lists wheat. McDonald's "bacon" used to contain wheat and wasn't what I'd consider real bacon, but it appears from their ingredients list that has changed. Every other bacon I've checked has been gluten...
  16. Where did you read that Riceguy? I've never heard any such thing. richard
  17. Let's emphasize MUCH more strongly here -- you cannot just pick out the gluten ingredients and then eat. You can't take the skin off the fried chicken, remove the meat from the pasta, or eat ANYTHING tat you know for certain has touched gluten. I don't need to be rude, but KES, your husband really needs to educate himself much, much more about this. richard
  18. Do you understand jasonD2 that some "glutens" do no harm to us? Corn gluten, rice gluten, and so on. As for contamination by the glutens that DO harm us, they can happen, but every celiac I know eats all other grains with no problem. Yes, you will se posters on any list who obsess every second, but for pretty much everybody, that's simply not necessary. Don...
  19. No guarantees from me that Wishbone is gluten-free (although it sounds like it is) but the blue cheese things is a celiac urban legend. MOST blue cheese is not started on bread, and even when it is, there's no measurable gluten. Blue cheese by itself is gluten-free. richard
  20. Yes, get some Frank's and follow that. Really easy and pretty much the original. richard
  21. CYA. I wouldn't worry about it myself. richard
  22. From everything I've read, there's just no way to determine celiac at this age.
  23. It's not gluten. richard
  24. "For instance, there is not one single fast food place where the chicken will be safe to eat. NONE. Not even the grilled chicken. Why? Because they inject the chicken with all sorts of garbage so that it's nice and juicy, including gluten containing ingredients. Some hamburger places will use bread crumbs in their burgers, some don't. If you eat anything...
