  1. No matter what Hershey's says, Nathan's no longer has wheat protein. richard
  2. Go to Udi's website and find the store locator. Then type in zip code 23451. richard
  3. Timely for this to come back up. We head to Va. Beach Sunday. richard
  4. The balsamic jury is not out at all. Balsamic vinegar is absolutely gluten-free. The other poster has a host of other allergies that make balsamic bad for her, but not for you, unless you have the same allergies. Which brings up a different point. In this case, all Heather asked about was gluten. Not yeast. Not sugar. But one of the posts went into a bunch...

    ARCHIVED Carls Jr

The nacho taco is not listed online so you would need to call them and ask. They do not list wheat for the chili fries BUT AT Hardee's (same restaurant basically) the fryers are NOT dedicated. They fry onion rings in the same oil. You should ask at Carl's. richard
  6. Scary indeed. richard
  7. In my experience, DH doesn't respond to antihistamines. Maybe hives or an allergy of some sort? richard
  8. Can you politely ask them to be be careful about crumbs and so forth? Also to clean up after themselves. I mean, they would have to clean it up if you weren't there.
  9. It would be on the label. richard
  10. According to ingredient lists I found on their website, ALL Oberto's beef jerkys have soy sauce with wheat. NONE are gluten-free. They used to have some gluten-free ones, but that changed a while back. richard

    ARCHIVED Hand Wash

I had DH and gluten on my skin does not trigger DH reactions. It's not something I worry about. richard
  12. I agree with what others have already said. People with celiac do not need to worry about what animals have eaten. This is the consensus of every single celiac and livestock expert I've heard speak on the matter. In addition, I've NEVER seen a "don't eat" list that warns celiacs to avoid the meat of animals that have been fed wheat. If this were truly a danger...
  13. Sometimes sit is indeed hard to get medication info. Some companies will tell you the medication is not formulated to have gluten but they won't make any guarantees about gluten-free status. This is a CYA legal statement, and in that case, I will take the med. Also IMO, CC in the actual manufacture of the med is unlikely. Why? Because medication manufacturers...
  14. Just wanted to assure folks with celiac that the reaction you're reading about in this post is an allergic reaction, not a celiac one. That doesn't make it any less scary for beksmom, but the vast majority of us don't have to worry about going into shock. richard
  15. Family members and I went to a Japanese steakhouse one time and I took a bottle of San J for the guy cooking in front of us to use. I had pre-arranged this with the owner. Both owner and chef were quite impressed that I had brought such good quality stuff. richard
  16. Note that if you're hoping to get your 11-month-old tested, don't bother. Testing is NOT accurate at that young of an age. Most agree you must be at least 2, and many think even older richard
  17. Ice cream is pretty much universally safe except the obvious stuff with cookies, brownies etc. There are one or two chocolate or fudge (I forget which) ice creams with barley, but the barley is listed. Read your ingredients. richard
  18. I eat both without problems. richard
  19. I've yet to see a yogurt clearly listing gluten (except a few that have a packet of granola to add). Some yogurts in the past have either said their product was not gluten-free or they wouldn't comment one way or another because grain alcohol was used to extract some of the flavors used. Stoneyfield was one of these (they finally admitted this was the only...
  20. Was your dry mustard cross contaminated? Did it list wheat? richard
  21. Flour is not used a a thickener in Wendy's chili and if workers are recycling old burgers then they are violating Wendy's policies and probably some health laws. The chili is on their gluten-free list. Besides, I didn't think that Wendy's burgers were put on buns and condiments put on ahead of time. richard

    ARCHIVED Glutened

IHOP's pre-packaged egg mix does have some pancake batter in it. You can, however, ask for fresh eggs. richard
  23. Looks a lot like DH. You can have a dermatologist look at it and biopsy it. richard
  24. 1. is it true that even a microscopic amount of gluten can make a person with celiac disease sick for days upon days? It CAN happen, but does not for most people with celiac. He may be one of the unfortunate ones. 2. after ingesting gluten accidentally, how long do negative symptoms last? Depends on the person. For me, less than a day. For others...
