  1. The frosting looks absolutely gluten-free. I have never ever seen gluten in artificial flavors and there are no natural flavors in the ingredients. richard
  2. Kroger s[ices are fine. I use their chili powder. As with other stuff in the U.S., any wheat would by law HAVE to be listed. The reality is that even with spice mixes, very, very few contain wheat. richard
  3. To me, it's OK to advertise fat free or gluten free on something that was that way anyway, but when you start charging an outrageous price for an item that you can get free of "whatever" for a normal price, that's wrong. richard
  4. Then you are reacting to something other than gluten. In the U.S. MFS almost never contains gluten. richard
  5. I've checked yogurt, sour cream and ice creams at several restaurants and never found gluten. I seriously doubt they "frequently" have gluten. And why would any of these sit on a counter for long? As for sour cream specifically, I've never found one with gluten. I think I have seen some cheapo ones with MFS, but it wasn't gluten. richard
  6. Cow's milk does not contain gluten. Cows have a different digestion system than humans. I've never heard of anybody adding gluten to milk and if they added wheat in the U.S. it would have to be listed. richard

    ARCHIVED Safe Gumbo

Last time I made it I just used file. Tasted fine. richard
  8. This is a CYA legal statement. Drug manufacturers rarely "guarantee" anything is gluten-free because of lawsuit potential. There's also no legal standard of what is and isn't gluten-free in the U.S. If they say the medication is formulated to not have gluten, it's gluten-free. I would use it without hesitation. richard
  9. If you haven't opened them already take them back. Regular old marshmallows are gluten-free. richard
  10. Taking something with you will probably be difficult in this situation so you could settle for something simple and relatively safe like a salad with oil and vinegar or maybe Italian. Other relatively safe items include plain steak or shrimp broiled or steamed. richard
  11. I don't know of any artificial sweeteners that aren't gluten-free. richard
  12. Yes. richard
  13. I've yet to find any kind of extract that isn't gluten-free, at least in the U.S. McCormick has said in the past that it will list any gluten and I'm pretty sure they don't use alcohol (which doesn't worry me anyway) for extraction. richard
  14. I certainly wouldn't throw it out on the sell by date. And I personally wouldn't throw it out at all unless it smelled or looked strange. richard
  15. Why throw them out? Were they rancid? richard
  16. Paper plates really are NOT a concern. Folks, let's not invent problems where there are none. richard
  17. A 30-second celiac reaction? Highly unlikely. Sounds like an allergic reaction to something and considering the fact that the dish soap hasn't had gluten in the past and probably doesn't have it now, it's very possible it's something else that you need to look into. As for some people absorbing gluten through the skin while most don't, that would seem...
  18. You don't have to have diarrhea or stomach pains for it to be celiac. The symptoms you did have could be celiac. But is it really celiac? I can't say. richard
  19. Soap is not absorbed through your skin and neither is gluten. richard
  20. Sort of like my list of turkeys containing gluten, Peter. Still standing at zero. richard
  21. I rarely buy speciality gluten-free products other than pasta and crackers, so I was relatively amazed at the increase in choices at three stores I went to yesterday in search of a frozen pie crust. Still way too expensive to merit buying very often, but the choice is definitely improving. richard
  22. According to their website, the only two products they make that contain gluten are the two listed above. richard

    ARCHIVED Five Guys

What Ryan said. And when I've told them about my problem they've been EXTRA careful. The last time we went, the manager at our local 5 Guys heard me and took over the entire preparation of my burger. richard
  24. While it sounds weird, my own father took dapsone for something like 20 years. He forgot to take it for a couple of days and when nothing happened, he just quit taking it. No DH for more than 5 years and no celiac-like symptoms (he didn't know about celiac and hadn't been tested). The DH finally returned and after I was diagnosed he also tested positive....
  25. There's no gluten "hiding" in the broth. richard
