  1. I'm also not sure this person was REALLY a friend, but I'm also going to go a little against the grain here. If the vast majority of your FB posts are about your allergies/illnesses/food intolerances, some folks are simply going to get tired of reading that stuff. After I was diagnosed with celiac more than 9 years ago, for a while people were fascinated...
  2. I've never seen any indication that the mother who does not have celiac need stay gluten-free. Even with a parent with celiac, the odds are still strongest that the child will never have it. richard
  3. Thanks for posting this, Lisa, but I'm thinking I'll be waiting until further testing is done. richard
  4. Everything you used was gluten-free. Could the Ragu be contaminated? That's possible with ANY processed product, even ones processed on dedicated lines (unless you know that every ingredient was processed on dedicated lines all the way down). The slicer at many stores is actually pretty safe the days as long as it's just used for deli meats and cheeses...
  5. I have no idea what enzymes had been affected but some of my liver tests were so far off they thought I had liver disease. richard
  6. Beer cheese isn't a block cheese. At least not the beer cheese I'm familiar with. richard
  7. I never ever worry about block cheese, unless it's been sitting on a plate next to regular crackers. But straight from the store -- always gluten-free. richard
  8. Are you all sure this is DH and not something like psoriasis? richard
  9. Sorry, when I said they were gluten-free I meant that they are on the Lay's list of products that don't contain gluten and that the ingredients in fact read gluten-free. This particular product probably is made on a shared line, since Lay's has only a handful that are made on dedicated lines. richard
  10. No problem with it and it's gluten-free. richard
  11. I'm not claiming that I can absolutely guarantee that every single theater popcorn is gluten-free, but in 10 years I've yet to find one that isn't. And that includes the buttery type topping. richard
  12. All I can say is that in the U.S., the Lay's Salt and Vinegar chips are definitely gluten-free. And the vinegar is NOT malt vinegar. richard
  13. There's certainly no wheat in it and doesn't appear to be any barley. I'd eat them. richard
  14. I thought that it turned out this guy was actually a waiter, not a chef, and had been fired from his most recent job. richard
  15. In addition to the Kraft replies, I've NEVER seen a bologna that isn't gluten-free. richard
  16. Making your own is great, so I'm certainly not discouraging that, but I also see no reason to be concerned about the commercial blends in general. richard
  17. It definitely means potato starch. richard
  18. Don't know of any gums that do have gluten. richard
  19. In the U.S. pretty much all of those type drinks are malted. Same with wine coolers. You have to assume they have barley. richard
  20. The REAL lesson here is NEVER assume anything. You absolutely must ask questions and explain your situation. richard
  21. I've had no problems. You can always ask them to check their stuff or use unflavored things. richard
  22. In the U.S. every single hot dog I know of is for sure gluten-free. richard
  23. Private establishments are without question allowed to forbid people bringing in their own food and drinks, whether for financial reasons or health/slash legal ones. The bowling alley I frequent DOES allow people to bring in food the way you want, but I'm sure they're not required to do so. I'm sorry these folks aren't being more reasonable, but I don't think...
  24. No gluten in injectables. richard
