  1. I'll echo Lisa. Distilled vinegar has been considered safe for 7-8 years now. VERY old info. richard
  2. Glad you had a good experience there. Lots of places in NO understand gluten, particularly those with a real chef. Commander's Palace is another wonderful place. richard
  3. My father had DH but virtually nothing else in the way of symptoms. Yet he was highly positive at age 70. richard
  4. Never heard pf DH responding to Motrin. Doesn't make sense. richard
  5. As with so many things and with a lot of things to do with celiac, it all depends on the person. We're not all alike and we don't all react the same way, so there's no "normal" or average. My father's DH disappeared for a few years without going gluten-free and then suddenly returned again. Is that "normal?" No, not really, but that's what happened to him...

    ARCHIVED Taco Bell

Without commenting on the CC issue, it would indeed appear from the TB website that the carnita tacos are gluten-free. And the meat ingredients list no gluten. richard
  7. I consider them gluten-free and eat them all the time. I think they even have their own line, although there is wheat somewhere in the building. richard
  8. And not many deli meats that I know of have gluten. richard
  9. It's gluten-free. Pretty much all gums are gluten-free. richard
  10. The flour thing might be a problem but many people with celiac have neither sulfite nor lactose problems. The person was making gluten-free cupcakes, not sulfite and lactose free cupcakes. I once saw a gluten-free cooking demonstration and someone from the audience complained that the dishes contained too much salt and fat for her diet. The cook reminded...
  11. Sounds to me like possible psoriasis but not much like DH. I've had both -- my DH is long gone after going gluten-free; my psoriasis started after my celiac disease diagnosis. Psoriasis most definitely is not nearly as itchy as DH. I'm pretty certain that most doctors, and definitely dermatologists, can diagnose psoriasis just by looking. Stress can aggravate...
  12. I also don't understand the better meats. What does that have to do with gluten? richard
  13. I can't say if gluten is causing the peeing, but I'm definitely not too wild about your doctor. Doesn't want to put him on the diet at that age!!!!!!!! So when does the doctor want to put him on it? When he's so sick he's losing weight, or so anemic he has no energy at all, or when the diarrhea is so bad he can't come out of the bathroom? I realize that...
  14. Any "anti-clumping" agent using wheat would have to clearly be listed as such. That said, I can't remember the last time I've seen wheat used that way. It would affect the taste and consistency of a recipe. richard

I would consider running it by your doctor. richard

    ARCHIVED Dentist Visit

One thing you can do is ask for a list of the products to be used and the manufacturer and call them yourself. There's much less chance of error and misunderstanding if you talk directly instead of using an apparently clueless intermediary. Do it yourself is my rule. Anyway, as far as cleaning stuff, from my experience, if you stay away from mint-flavored...
  17. Very, very few processed meats -- in fact, almost none -- like this actually have gluten. In the U.S., any wheat would have to be clearly listed. I can't remember EVER seeing barley in in a deli meat unless it was a meat that has beer, which, of course, would be listed. In reality, prepackaged deli meat is pretty safe after reading the ingredients. What...
  18. I've never seen a mozzarella that has gluten. And soy would have to be listed. richard
  19. Cool Whip is a Kraft product. If there's no gluten clearly listed, there's no gluten. richard
  20. In the U.S, wheat must be clearly listed as such. No guessing there. I can't remember the last time I've found a condiment with hidden gluten, and really almost none with gluten at all. They won't have rye or oats, which leaves barley, and in the mustards that I've seen with it, it's been clearly listed.
  21. Stressing out about the gluten mistake will almost certainly be worse for you than the mistake.
  22. Not sure why you avoid it. Yeast is gluten-free. richard
  23. I had no withdrawal symptoms. You might be worrying needlessly. richard
  24. Are you sure the fryers are dedicated? They aren't at Hardee's, which is essentially the same place. richard
