  1. In addition to feeling much better after having the gall bladder removed -- IF that's what it is -- your gall bladder can become seriously inflamed, and while not as dangerous as appendicitis, an inflamed gall bladder can be serious business. Yes, in rare cases it can kill you if untreated, depending on what you have. Also, from what I understand, an inflamed...
  2. Taco Bell tacos are NOT gluten-free. Whether or not the pain is from gluten, your husband is definitely not being careful enough. richard
  3. Sounds like you or your dad have gotten some old information about what is and isn't gluten-free. You will find lots of old stuff on the Internet. Keep reading and learning. There are TONS and TONS of "regular" foods that are gluten-free. For instance, I don't know of a mayo, ketchup, peanut butter, or butter that isn't gluten-free. Almost all mustards...
  4. I would suggest you call the company that makes the product instead of guessing. richard
  5. Wal-mart may have gotten tired of celiacs who think they were glutened by a "gluten-free" product threatening them over it. richard
  6. Has anybody bothered to contact the company? That's usually the best route. richard
  7. All are safe -- or at least I've never heard of one that isn't. Champagne is not something to worry about. richard
  8. Many of us eat Nut Thins. There is wheat in the facility where they are produced but not on the lines where they are produced. I trust them. As for packaged foods in general, again, there's no one blanket answer. Some foods are inherently safer than others. However, it's safe to say that only a VERY tiny percentage of people with celiac have completely given...
  9. As with so many other things, it depends on the person. There's no definite answer. richard
  10. No need to get paranoid. My father is 78 and wasn't even diagnosed until he was 70. As someone else pointed out, older folks are less likely to be on discussion groups like this. richard
  11. Yoplait is gluten-free and they say they are. Some yogurts claim their flavored ones aren't gluten-free, but that's because they have old notions that alcohol used in extracting or processing flavors is not gluten-free. This is not true. Stoneyfiled used to say only their plain yogurt was gluten-free but finally admitted flavors were OK. Despite what one...
  12. Please, byoung, there's no use in scaring people to death. If you truly react to walking on a carpet or sitting on furniture, you are the very FIRST person with celiac I've ever heard of having this problem. This simply is NOT a problem for celiacs. richard
  13. The point here is whether or not MSG has gluten. It doesn't. Please take the discussion of whether or not MSG is good for you to the non-celiac threads. richard
  14. Very good news. Wonder when they changed. richard
  15. What are the ingredients? I've yet to find an egg nog that has gluten, but that's not to say there isn't one. richard
  16. Honeybaked ham is gluten-free everywhere. rifchard
  17. Wanted to clarify that. Your first post did mention that you got the soft chews but didn't make it clear that the regulars were gluten-free. I wonder what the soft chews would share a line with. richard
  18. This is your basic CYA statement. Based on this, I'd use them. richard
  19. Please provide the names of some specific coffees with barley. I can't remember finding any. Definitely some teas, and it seems to always be listed in those cases.
  20. I've used the regular hard tablets for years with no problem. What exactly did the person at the 800 number say? richard
  21. I've yet to hear of a theater popcorn that isn't gluten-free. Years ago the country's largest popcorn flavoring company (Flavacol) said their stuff is gluten-free. The oil they use is not going to have gluten. Still, you can always try to check on ingredients. richard
  22. You're absolutely sure this is DH? Those are not the most common places for DH. Those are some of the places I have psoriasis. richard
  23. I know a number of people with celiac who drink Baileys. richard
  24. I can't remember all of my abnormalities but they including elevated liver enzymes, low iron (BAD anemia) and potassium, and many, many others. I also had the flu-like achiness and even ran fevers to 105. Everything I ate tasted like metal. I had many, many of your symptoms. All caused by celiac. However, they also did the BMB on me because they were convinced...
