  1. Oops. Didn't see the other replies on the holiday. rihard
  2. I e-mailed Cottonelle. richard
  3. I don't know if this has been pointed out, but srokie claimed that ALL Kimberly-Clark toilet papers are "dusted," and yet we've had at least two very sensitive people say their paper of choice is Scott. Folks, Scott IS a Kimberly-Clark company. I'm also curious why wheat-flour dusted toilet paper wouldn't leave a little pile of flour dust on the floor...
  4. Vegetable broth is pretty much the standard in tuna. There's no gluten. Tuna, like other meats, must by USDA law list any grain added. The only time I've found a tuna with gluten was a flavored one in a packet that had soy sauce. richard
  5. Many folks these days (particularly those on the extremes of both sides) complain bitterly about how biased or opinionated the news is today. Some complain articles are too graphic. Although it's not political in nature, this article shows that today's writing is much, much more blalanced than it used to be. In the not too distant past, reporters were expected...
  6. Is there a law requiring that MSG be listed? If so, I wasn't aware of it. BTW, under the allergen law, it's illegal to process one of the 8 top allergens into another ingredient and then not list the allergen. richard
  7. "They are a business.....their primary focus is to make money." I agree. So I don't understand why they would publicly declare they will list all gluten and then violate the law and face enormous lawsuits by illegally hiding gluten. The fines and lawsuits wouldn't be worth the small amount of money they make from people with celiac and wheat allergies...
  8. Fiddle Faddle, I've called Kraft numerous times over the past five years to ask questions about products, but I'm befuddled as to what I would ask to determine if they are a "safe" company. I'm serious, how would YOU go about determining this through a phone call to the company? The only way I know to do that is to listen to the experiences of others....
  9. "As far as Kraft goes....its my understanding that they are the company who puts the most MSG into their products. Is it labeled....nope....its *hidden* in the ingredients." I'm not sure what this has to do with whether Kraft reveals all gluten unless they also pledge to reveal all MSG and then hide it. Do they? richard
  10. To those who wonder why anybody's reacting before they call Kraft --which we can't do on a weekend -- it appears to me from her posts that srokie never called Kraft herself before posting. Shouldn't she be held to that same standard? True, she was quoting a person she trusts, but those of us doubting her information are quoting dozens or even hundreds of...
  11. "Nobody who has posted thus far has been able to *prove* that her information isnt valid....yet many here are just as emphatic in stating that she is incorrect because everything they've ever heard is that Kraft doesnt hide anything. So again...because what shes saying goes against popular belief....she is under attack. When the fact is that we DONT KNOW...
  12. Srokie came on here and immediately passed along information that goes against everything we've heard and some of it even against common sense. She quotes her "doctor" as if the doctor were a physician. And while she was indeed unnecessarily attacked in some posts, she also threw tantrums when asked for more info. She has never talked to Kraft herself but...
  13. The meat of animals that eat wheat or barley does not contain gluten. I've been told this by an animal scientist and a large animal veterinarian. And I know many, many people with celiac who eat meat with no consequences. None of them call the farms. I never seen any evidence this is something you need to worry about. richard
  14. According to USDA regulations (this is different from the FDA allergen law), any grain added to raw meat would have to be clearly listed. richard
  15. If your husband rinses his toothbrush, I'd think the coffee shop more likely. Just my opinion. richard
  16. Planter's and Crystal Light are Kraft products. Kraft promises on its web site for all to see to clearly list any gluten. Then they purposely hide wheat in Planter's and Crystal Light so that a handful of people with celiac or a wheat allergy will continue to buy them? In fact, Planter's even lists wheat in at least one product (one of the trail mixes) but...
  17. "Richard, when I was first diagnosed (less than one year ago), I checked my cottage cheese, which DID contain modified food starch. It was either a low-fat or a fat-free cottage cheese, and those, along with low-fat and fat-free ice creams, OFTEN contain either modified food starch or wheat as thickeners (if you don't believe me, check the ingredient list...
  18. "I feel you need to "practice what you preach!" Back your theories up just as you want us too. I always back mine with links or personal experience--do you?" I absolutely always without question base my comments on experience, either my own and that of others. And often the comments are also based on things I've read, although I don't always have a link...
  19. Pure herbs are gluten-free, although some herbal teas have barley added. richard
  20. Let me make it clear that I DO NOT have a link or scientific proof. I'm not trying insult or humiliate anyone or try to prove I'm better or more knowledgeable. I don't think that 10-11 days off gluten will mess up a biopsy. I'm also pretty certain that it does not take the average person with celiac six months to recover from one ingestion. People who...
  21. All 3 have gluten-free menus and all 3 are generally dependable, although eating out anywhere is a risk. If I remember correctly, the Ceasar salad is gluten-free without the croutons. richard
  22. Deb, I really can't understand why you'd get so upset that I'd say that MFS with gluten was more rare than people had thought in the past. If you've followed discussions and opinions from experts there's just no question at all this is true. Thinking about numerous ingedients has changed over the years, and this is one of them. Never ever did I say MFS NEVER...
  23. I've yet to find an ice cream where gluten was hidden. Maybe there are some, but I haven't seen them. richard
  24. Even before the labeling law the fact is MFS was almost never made from wheat. Extremely rare. It is indeed possible that manufacturers can still be using old labels, but that's also getting more and more rare. These days, MFS is very low on the list if gluten concerns. richard
  25. In the Atlanta area, Dr. Cynthia Rudert is considered one of the top celiac doctors in the U.S. richard
