  1. Last time I checked the La Choy sauce was gluten-free. It's also very easy to make. Just google a recipe. richard
  2. As pointed out, Hunt's for some reason still thinks all distilled vinegar has gluten. While I cannot guarantee every mayo and ketchup in the world is gluten-free, I don't know of any that aren't. Just read the ingredients. richard
  3. I've never called Dean's but rennet is most definitely safe. I've been gluten-free for more than five years and have yet to find a sour cream with gluten. richard
  4. Carol, As to your original post, the stomach bug is not the true flu and the flu shot has no effect on it. he flu shot does not have gluten in it. In fact, ALL injectable drugs and IV fluids are gluten-free. richard
  5. "Last year they admitted that they chose all the wrong strains, meaning that last years shots were completely ineffective for the flu strains that made people sick." Actually, they pretty much nailed it last year. The year before they didn't do so well. "In fact, I think I read that they did the same thing this year. Meaning, that anybody who still...

  7. "Maybe it's just where I live, but I have heard many, many, many, many more stories like Ursa Major's than like Richard's. And Ursa Major's story mirrors my own experience, as well." Pretty weird. I don't personally know of a single person who's had a bad reaction to flu shots and a very high percentage of people I l know get it. My wife is a nurse and...
  8. Same thing. Coeliac is the British spelling. richard
  9. Never heard of dextrose made from wheat. Dextrin can be, but not dextrose. richard
  10. Terrible, terrible advice. Run VERY far away from this person. richard
  11. Every vanilla I've ever checked has been gluten-free. richard
  12. In Roanoke, Va., I found it at Kroger yesterday. It's been five years since I've had a "regular" beer, but to me this tastes a whole lot like what I remember from a Sam Adams or something similar. richard
  13. Brach's continues to refuse to tell people what is and isn't gluten-free, even though a large part of what they make is almost certainly gluten-free. Of course they are required to list wheat now and I'd bet that most any barley would be in the form of malt. But I refuse to eat any of their candies -- even when I'm sure they're gluten-free -- simply because...
  14. Hershey no longer claims to clearly list all gluten, BUT they must and will list wheat and they say any barley would be listed as malt. So you can still just read the ingredients to see if they're safe. I consider Chipotle's to be safer than a number of places but they still do have flour tortillas so the risk of CC is always there. Did they put on new...
  15. Wendy's fried aren't on their gluten-free list simply because not all locations have dedicated fryers. If the location you visit has a dedicated fryer, they're gluten-free. But fast food places are inherently risky. richard

    ARCHIVED Turkey

As mentioned before, the law covering meats is a USDA law and has been on the books now for years. Even if the turkey manufacturer hasn't violated the FDA allergen law, the USDA law still applies. I have called the USDA more than once and confirmed that meats HAVE to list WRBO. It's just that simple. richard
  18. Of course I can't guarantee that every single movie popcorn out there is gluten-free, but I've yet to find one that isn't. richard

    ARCHIVED Turkey

"I was glutened by turkey on thanksgiving.(self basting) The ingredients did not list wheat rye or barley. When i called the company, they said it contained gluten. the ingredients did say 'natural flavorings" but not what they were" Please tell us which company. I have never heard of a turkey with gluten unless it was stuffed, but if this company is...

    ARCHIVED Turkey

"Wheat has to be disclosed, but not barley or rye (not that I have ever seen barley or rye in a turkey). Many natural flavoings have a wheat base, but it is unclear whether those have to be reported or not (evidenced by the self-basting glutening)." Because they are grains and would add nutrition to meat, barley and rye MUST by USDA law be listed in...
  21. It should be gluten-free. richard
  22. I was diagnosed at age 46 and my father was 70. richard
  23. Rice malt is safe. rciahrd
  24. Hard to diagnose by Internet, but those treatments don't work on DH. richard
