  1. Ok. So, it's probably an issue of paperwork rather than an issue of a more thorough analysis. That would make sense. I'm just tired of waiting. Though, I'm certain it's negative - so I'm not so sure why I'm concerned in the least. Thank you!! =)
  2. My baby tested positive for soy - but his allergist said that the numbers were low enough that it is probably a false positive, and advised me to continue to feed him soy. I'd pulled it out of his diet - and didn't notice much. However, after 2 weeks with no soy - he started having TERRIBLE diarrhea, horrible diaper rash, and eczema like mad. As a...
  3. With all the knowledge on this board.... no one has ANY insight??
  4. Honestly - I don't even know how to ask this... so forgive me if my wording is all discombobulated. I realize that each lab has their own reference ranges. I understand that some labs are far more experienced and qualified to read and interpret the panel results. But, I'm wondering... aren't all the tests performed in the same way?? I read that in...
  5. I used to eat Kaboom when I was a "tween." Maybe it's one of those geographic issues, LOL!
  6. I saw Dr. Gary Gray speak at Stanford last fall. He had mentioned the development of a pill that will be used to fend off the horrible effects of accidental glutenings from cross-contamination issues and the likes. Though, it's not being developed as a cure nor as a license to indulge in gluten containing foods. Of course, the one Dr. Gray spoke of might...
  7. Not really voting... because I count for 4 people. =) 1. 5 year old daughter (dx at 4) in June, 2006 2. Myself - dx in Sept of 06 - at 36. 3. 8 year old son - dx 1.17.07 4. 17 month old son - gluten free in October, 06. However, pediatrician is convinced we are missing something...and ran a panel last week. Results from Mayo Clinic are pending...
  8. We are on day 9 waiting for the results of my youngest son's results. His were sent to the Mayo Clinic, for some reason. That wasn't the case with my older kids.... so I have no idea what's going on. A Mexican cruise sounds heavenly.... have a wonderful time!!!
  9. I read your post out of curiosity... but when I got to this part, even though I have no clue to the answers to your questions, I wanted to comment. My 17 month old son is allergic to egg whites, soy, dairy protein, (and peanuts!) and is gluten free. His gluten tests are currently at the Mayo clinic... we are waiting for the results. He's been gluten-free...
  10. Yep, it is a little awkward. In fact, I'm taking my class to mass on Sunday - and I've had to ask my DRE how to handle the issue. We have it all figured out... we think. =) Thanks for the well wishes. It's an odd situation, but I'm doing my best to make the best of it! =)
  11. Yep!! I've always had dark circles (and bags, LOL!) under my eyes. Since going gluten-free - they are gone!! Not so much with my daughter.... but her allergist says that environmental crud contribute as well.
  12. The Peppercorn Duck Club - located on the Messanine level of the Hyatt Regency Crown Center proudly holds the CSA Recognition Seal from the CSA denoting that it is a "risk-free" choice for celiacs and is recognized as the Best of the Best. Skies Restaurant atop the Hyatt Regency, as well as Milano Italian Dining - on the 1st level of Crown Center, also...
  13. Awww pooh. I'm so hoping to avoid an endoscopy. He's only 17 months old... I really don't want to go that route. He's gaining weight just fine (now) - he's healthy, he's happy, and he's gluten free. But, he still has loose/mushy/peanutbutterish stools ALL the time. It's either that... or "the big D" - and it's not just once or twice a day... it's 6-8...
  14. I just noticed this in deli tuna and egg salad the other day!! I was hungry for egg salad and picked up a 1/4 in the deli. As I was walking toward the checkout, I happened to glance down at the ingredient label and saw "contains wheat." I'm thinking.... "What? It's egg salad!!!" I went back through and sure enough, there were bread crumbs in the egg salad...
  15. Just a quick question.... If a person suspected of having ED comes back with a totally normal CBC - does it "rule out" ED - or does it just show that the Eosinophils aren't overloaded in the blood, but can still be present elsewhere?? I'm just learning about this issue, so I'm a bit confused. Thank you, in advance, for any clarification you can...
  16. Hoooray!!!! That's wonderful!!!!! My daughter also had a weight hault around 2. She gained less than a pound in between her 2nd and 5th birthday. Once we put her on a gluten free diet, she immediately gained 5 lbs and grew 3 inches!!!! She's still way small for her age (almost 6 and just a shade over 30 lbs) but she's getting there!!! I hope the weight...
  17. The chocolate chips are good, and I really like the cinnamon raisin bagels. (so does my toddler!) =) As far as crackers... I honestly don't know. We eat Ener G crackers. I just found them online... and it says they are free from gluten, wheat, casein, dairy, egg, nut, low protein, rice. Though...they do contain soy. My daughter and I love those things...
  18. McD's has onion rings and potato wedges??? I guess that's one thing we can be thankful of here in the US.... they don't. =)
  19. I am also Catholic, and I agree - NO amount of a normal host is safe. It's a sad and harsh reality, no doubt about that. The Benedictine Sisters have created an extremely low gluten host that is made with wheat starch, as opposed to wheat flour, and it has been approved for use in the US. They are .01% gluten - which some have determined to be a "safe" level...
  20. My sister was a manager at a McD's for years. Since their fries are their "big money maker" - they almost always are cooked in a dedicated fryer. Other foods being cooked with the fries could ruin the taste of the fries. And, they don't like to risk that. Of course, this may not *always* be the case, but for the most part, McD's fries will not be cooked...
  21. Gosh, I would hate to tape his meltdowns... but, I guess if that's what I must do, I've got to do it. I honestly have to tell you... I'm absolutely terrified for others to see how he behaves when he's at home. 95% of the time... he's such a joy to be around. He's happy and sweet, very empathetic. But, he's horribly emotional, extremely fussy, and easily...
  22. We have no diagnosis of anything. I've talked with his teacher about some of his issues, and she said that she just doesn't see him having any "real" problems in school. But, he does fine.... and then he comes home, and has meltdowns. He's amazingly calm and cool around others, and once he's in the security of his own home - he "looses his mind" so-to-speak...
  23. I knew a little bit. A very little bit, only because Celiac was mentioned to us 5 years ago when our oldest son was just 2 years old. He fit the profile... his pediatrician ran blood tests, they came back negative... and that was the end of it. At 4, he started having some "psychological" issues. The psychologist we were working with suggested we...
  24. I don't really have any words of advice. But, I read your post...and just wanted to wave Hi. I'm a "dance mom" as you can see by my avatar. This is a frustrating world to live in, no doubt about that. Best wishes to you.
  25. Yep... Enjoy Life!! enjoylifefoods.com - no gluten, EVER. =)
