  1. Sorry, you can't have pics in sigs in this forum. You can have a small pic as your avatar - but other than that... no sig pics.
  2. Holy geez.... you just described me!! And, yea... Joshua is very literal! I had to laugh at myself for asking him such a silly question the other night. We were at his school for open house and my husband had asked what classrooms were downstairs. Joshua replied, "The computer labs are down there." I turned and asked, "Well, how do you get down there...
  3. Ok, since I'm the total newbie here... I wanted to share a little. I also wanted to ask about Shadow Asperger's - I've not heard of that, please enlighten. From the moment Josh was born, he was not like any other baby I'd ever encountered. He was unusually quiet, very placid. He did not cry unless he was wet or hungry. I attributed it to the fact that...
  4. Michi - we are on a selective and delayed schedule with our middle and youngest child. I had no idea, when my oldest was little, that I could say NO to vaccinations. I learned quickly, however, after my daughter severely reacted to the DTaP. It's always difficult when medical professionals ask whether or not immunizations are up to date. There are very...
  5. I sincerely appreciate the words of support. I feel empowered to have validation, but at the same time... I feel weakness because now my child has been officially labels as Autistic. The psychologist we are working with immediately made me feel at home in his office. He also commended me for going the extra mile for my child. Josh has absolutely no problems...
  6. After contemplating this thread, and observing my child, talking with others who have observed him - and dealing with a MAJOR episode that lasted over 4 hours - I took matters into my own hands. I collected all of my son's medical records, all testing results, all previous evaluations, and I started making phone calls. Yesterday my son was finally diagnosed...
  7. The treatment with both Celiac and Gluten Intolerance is exactly the same thing... total avoidance of gluten containing foods. The major difference is that with Celiac, there is an autoimmune response by which your body literally attacks ITSELF - and causes serious internal damage. With gluten intolerance, the body is reacting in a negative way - but...
  8. OMG, that's exactly what I was thinking. She's SOO dumb, she would not be the best person to help the world understand the necessity for this particular lifestyle. I'm quite certain she'll never be required to read a label or cook her own food, so - it won't be any "real" big deal for her.

    ARCHIVED Pf Changs

Are you familiar with the area?? PF Changs is in the Country Club Plaza. I would HIGHLY recommend making reservations well ahead of time The plaza is always busy - and the restaurants are always packed. I can't wait to go see the Dead Sea Scrolls. There is one lecture, in particular, that I really wanted to see.... but they are all sold out.
  10. Lesserevil is the brand name... and it's POPCORN!! It's deliciously wonderful popcorn. I've also tried the SinNamon - it's SOOOO yummy!!!! Our Whole Foods and Wild Oats carries it... both places have it with the Chips.
  11. I have no idea. Honestly... with this particular doctor, it doesn't matter... but I will ask his pediatrician about it. My son's tTg was elevated out of range, as well as IgA & IgG antibodies - without IgA deficiency. His allergist said the panel was totally negative. But, he did say that he's "not the expert" so he prefers we see a GI. I understand...
  12. Ok... thanks! =) I just went to get the "paper version" of my son's results. That was his total serum IgA... and I thought it looks odd that it says, "out of range" next to it.
  13. Calling all "test interpretation experts!!" I have a question about total serum IgA. I realize that some folks are IgA deficient, which makes the traditional interpretation of the Celiac panel pretty useless. What about someone who is out of range in the opposite direction?? For example... total serum IgA = 351 with a reference range of ...
  14. I'm a big fan too... only started watching 2 seasons ago, this being my 3rd. I really like Chris Sligh - the guy with the great sense of humor. I also like Phil Stacy. I love Simon... and while I know that he's not always a nice guy, last night he was exceptionally "mean" and I was irritated by him.
  15. I'm sorry you are feeling so poorly. May I ask... do you know which antibodies it was that were considered a weak positive? 800 calories a day isn't enough to fuel a 15 month old toddler, much less a full grown adult. I'm wondering if part of the reason you are so miserable is because you are starving! It does sound like your reactions are becoming...
  16. So, it's a solid in the container?? Do you replace the other "oils" with it? Or... add it in addition??
  17. Hiya! I have a similar story. Though... no one ever send us for any testing due to my daughter's size. I still find that odd. Anyhow, when my little one was sent for testing in June of last year... her blood test results were considered inconclusive. She had an IgG elevated more than 7 times the top of the reference range, and all her others were ...
  18. I just have to giggle here.... this post, oddly enough, reminded me of the first time I met my husband's parents. His mother was very excited to meet me... and she wanted to share all sorts of things from Dh's life with me. One of the first things she showed me was photos from an endoscopy that he'd had as a teenager. I had trouble sleeping that night...
  19. Celiac is very often misdiagnosed as IBS!!!

    ARCHIVED Clueless

Could not agree more. I was seriously disappointed when I learned that Applebee's doesn't really "make" their food. It's already prepared, they just heat it up... which is why it's impossible to get gluten free food there.
  21. Dumb question... and an unintended "thread-jack" - but... how do you use coconut oil?? What benefits does it have with regards to Candida? I walk by the coconut oil in Whole Foods and I stare at it.... thinking, it must be good for something! Do you cook with it, as is? Obviously... I'm clueless.
  22. One of my all-time favorites is "Diet Coke Chicken." I don't really have a recipe... I just toss a bunch of stuff in the crockpot and simmer all day. Basically: Chicken. (I use boneless skinless breasts, but you could use whatever you want) Then I mix up some BBQ sauce (gluten-free of course) with some ketchup, and add some diet coke - and mix...
  23. I find it interesting that they would test a child so young, who had no symptoms. Do you or your husband have Celiac? So many doctors are clueless about Celiac, so I'm just fascinated to read about one who sent a kiddo with no symptoms for testing. Bravo to your doctor!! =) My older son was sent for testing at 2, because he was failing to gain weight...
  24. I also LOVE the Cream of Buckwheat!! Very tasty!! I eat it for breakfast often!! =)
