  1. Hey Lisa, I'm not in Canada (but if you ever come to Seattle I'll buy you lunch). I just realized that when I see your screen name I actually think of you as "nummy". Just a bit of silliness in your thread
  2. A day at the spa. If she likes company you could get several of her closest friends to get themselves gift certs as well so you can make a day of it. Best would be if you could arrange to have her house cleaned while she's out.
  3. This just brings up all sorts of bizarre images...
  4. I'm glad he's home and feeling better.
  5. Subject: British Terrorism Alert System Update Hello Everyone, This is an important update of the Terrorism Alert System as operating in England and the European countries... Please forward in order to inform all interested parties. The following message has been cleared for circulation by the Joint Intelligence Committee, and approved...
  6. Well, at least you got a brownie out of it...
  7. Well Congratulations! We all knew you could do it!
  8. I think this is a fabulous idea, not only to keep you from getting sick, but also as a way to get closer to his mom.
  9. David, Show me that they aren't. The real answer is: It's never been definitively studied. It's not appropriate to assume either answer is the correct one. Nor is it appropriate to expect others to agree with your experiences. As for not having the problem in Europe, it's possible, and probable, the your wheat is a bit different than ours (aside...
  10. Hi Taylor, You're getting a lot of great info here so I'll just answer your question. My friends N.D. believes that both gluten and casein can cause inflammation in everybody and if you already have an inflammatory disease like RA you may be able to lessen the symptoms by not eating gluten or casein.
  11. A friend of mine with RA and fibromyalgia went gluten-free and casein free on the advice of her doctor to lessen the inflammation. She said it did help, but at that point she was on so many drugs that it didn't help enough for her to want to continue. She's still gluten and casein light, however.
  12. Maybe it's just a guy named "Gardiner" who lives in the shed out back.
  13. I agree with Ursa. Why does it matter to you how other people choose to live their lives?
  14. Tissue transglutaminase. A specific protein found in the gut. Immunoglobin G. A generic name for a type of antibodies. They can be against almost anything (which means they recognize ) but each individual molecule is specific for it's individual thing. Think of them like little kids in a shopping cart being pushed through a store. Every kid reaches...
  15. Umm, the men?
  16. Does any one else occasionally get miffed because they have to diagnose themselves before going to the doctor?
  17. Krista, I know what your going through. I hope your sweet boy feels better soon.
  18. oooohhhh I was actually afraid I'd have to call up my ex and take advantage of him
  19. Abandoning this thread due to severe jealousy. Will return when topic is less grouch causing.
  20. Okay, I gained two pounds since last month, but considering the amount of chips I've eaten I think I'm okay with that. Yesterday - nothing bad. All fruits, veggies and salmon. Had one piece of toblerone and some baked potato chips. Today - Starving! 2 tomatoes, 1 boiled egg, 1 pear, maybe 2 ounces of smoked provolone and 1/2 lb cherries.
  21. ummm, grown men. But I've noticed they require the same handling techniques.
  22. Ummm, two bags of potato chips. I feel like a poster child for the "don't shop when you're hungry" campaign. One thing this thread has taught me is that I need to keep quick healthy foods at home all the time 'cause if I try to run to the store when I get home I don't do such a good job.
  23. Nope, you don't have to live without gluten. You can live like this instead:
  24. These are not symptoms of allergy. Constant congestion can indicate whole body inflammation, not just nasal inflammation. The bottom line is: It's your body, it's your choice. But keep in mind that if you decide you can keep eating gluten and never test to see if you are intolerant, you could end up damaging your nerves, your kidneys, your pancreas...
  25. I would do that. And I would also assume that the bride and groom want me to have a good time, but they are way to stressed to help me do it. Do what you think will work best for you and if the b or g ask you about it, smile and give them the above statement. If any one else asks, it isn't really their business and you can give answer that seems appropriate...
