  1. A long time ago I was waiting in the lobby of the company where I worked. To entertain myself I started reading the 'guest sign in book'. I noticed that someone coming to visit the president had neglected to note the reason for their visit, so I filled in the space with "sex".
  2. Oh, right. I guess I'm okay with being irritating.
  3. Mine says I'm sunny and optimistic. I'd like to slap the person that wrote that description.
  4. megirae, check out the online shopping sites. You can find good deals sometimes and for you the cost of shipping might equal out the expense and hassle of driving so far.
  5. you are lightcyan Your dominant hues are green and blue. You're smart and you know it, and want to use your power to help people and relate to others. Even though you tend to battle with yourself, you solve other people's conflicts well. Your saturation level is very low - you have better things to do than jump headfirst into every little project...
  6. So I took a night train to Zagreb. And I never intended to stay in Zagreb, I headed for the buses to Plitvice National Park. After a 'restful' night on the train, I felt like walking, so I hoisted my 50 lbs of stuff onto my back and hiked the 2K to the bus station. <interjection. The bus station in Zagreb has the COOLEST toilets! When you...
  7. Sorry Richard, I should have offered a citation. I actually didn't mean topical, but ingested. Open Original Shared Link
  8. pink cole slaw - just added shredded beets.
  9. I study immunity for a living. I've read many, many books and articles and attended conferences and of course conducted my own research. I spent a lot of years at university and continually attended seminars and online webinars and courses to keep my knowledge current. What book would you suggest I read?
  10. Pink tinted coconut on anything sweet. Pink tinted whipped topping on anything. Or pink egg whites. chinese barbecue pork
  11. Very important thing to keep in mind, especially for those of us with long hair. Mine is always getting in my mouth (no, not handfuls, just the occasional strand). But I was thinking about this gluten absorption thing last night and I realized there are a few key points that need to be added: One of the protections that our skin has is an oily, waxy...
  12. There are some vitamin deficiencies that can cause skin issues. I know zinc does and I think one of the B vitamins does as well.
  13. It doesn't have to go to your gut, all it has to do is start an immune response, which is systemic.
  14. These people, for example, weren't tested for concomitant Celiac: Open Original Shared Link
  15. True, but you frequently come across as condescending so even though you didn't originate the discussion, some part of my comment still applies to you. And just as a point of curiosity, do you know of any studies where they have actually tested and shown that gluten is not absorbed through the skin?
  16. This is ridiculous. Look up things before posting completely inaccurate statements. Proteins that have been broken down into individual amino acids are useless as a treatment. Very few (if any) medications that are delivered through the skin contain any protein; they are chemicals. The patches have components (additional chemicals) that allow or facilitate...
  17. So I took a night train to Zagreb. For those of you that have never done a night train - it isn't like the Humphrey Bogart movies. Even if you pay extra for a "bed" (really just a fold down seat) in a cabin that you share with up to 5 other people, you're still on a train. If you leave the window closed, it's way too hot, and if you open it, it's...
  18. I swear, sometimes these threads get to be like a family reunion that lasted a day too long.
  19. EVERYONE ON THIS THREAD IS PRETENTIOUS AND OBNOXIOUS AND PRETENDS TO KNOW MORE THAN THEY REALLY DO. YOU-ALL BLATHER ON ENDLESSLY ABOUT SILLY UNPROVEN TREATMENTS THAT WILL NEVER WORK AND JUST WASTE TIME AND MONEY. GROW THE F*** UP!!! There, now you can all yell at me and stop sniping at each other because I think all of you need the collective knowledge...
  20. Your point is taken, but given the diets of much of the northern hemisphere, it's not valid. People feed their kids crap all the time. Also, given the expense of the substitute food, presumably most people gravitate towards a healthier gluten-free diet just to be able to afford it. As for determining if anything else is wrong, very important point. ...
  21. From the article: "Many paediatric gastroenterologists share our experience of receiving referrals with a request to do endoscopy on the basis of a positive stool test result." Why is this a bad thing? And: "Even worse, children have been started on a gluten-free diet on the basis of positive stool test results alone." Again, why is this a bad...
  22. I found it curious that it wasn't even part of the differential...
  23. Sorry, I was wrong: Thimerosal is a mercury-containing organic compound (an organomercurial). Since the 1930s, it has been widely used as a preservative in a number of biological and drug products, including many vaccines, to help prevent potentially life threatening contamination with harmful microbes. Over the past several years, because of an increasing...
  24. Well, that website makes a lot of claims but doesn't back any of them up. It also says (several times) that your body can only absorb 1mg per day. So if your body self-limits its iron uptake, how can you possibly get enough to become toxic? It also tells you that there is mercury in flu shots and I'm pretty sure (although not positive) that there is...
  25. A far worse possible outcome than too much iron. I don't think your body will absorb more iron than you need. It will just give you constipation and nasty black poop. There is a genetic disorder that allows some peoples bodies to store too much iron, but it's unlikely that you'll have any difficulties. I'd be more worried about...
