  1. Hi all! I'm in Slovenia, having gone through Croatia and Bosnia to get here. Tonight I head for Budapest. Food has been no problem. I found rice cakes in Croatia and the hostel here in Ljubljana lists which foods on it's menu are gluten-free. Flour is used far less often as a filler so I've had no problems with CC. In Italy I bought gluten-free...
  2. I vote for the designs - but leave the part around your face long so you can pull it back into a pony tail if you need to look respectable.
  3. I think the order is: 1 3 2 Damage can begin before any other signs or symptoms are present. Some people only have signs of malabsorption, and only after a long time.
  4. I agree with Nora. Other studies have shown that the ttg levels may not rise until you have total, or near total villi destruction, so their interpretation is backwards. If you have destroyed villi you have a high probability of having high ttg levels, but having high ttg levels doesn't mean you will have sufficient destruction that they'll see it during...
  5. Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten the insect repellent! Thanks for the cheery wishes everyone. I'll try to post now and then when I stop to send email to friends and family. And I'll definitely give everyone the low-down on food - since that seems to be the major travel question posted! AAAAGGGGHHHH will this week never end!!!!!!!
  6. Leaving Friday after work and it's getting REALLY hard to concentrate....
  7. Important for whom? If it isn't important for you personally, don't do it.
  8. That's it exactly. My friend is great when I just want someone to tell me stories and requires nothing of me except nodding and smiling.
  9. I just scarfed through three boxes of them in rapid succession and have had no problems... except the knowledge that I ate three boxes of cookies in 5 days.
  10. Hey!! I fell asleep twice trying to watch this! Someone fill me in the ending (skip Addison's part) The last thing I remember is Meredith's Dad's wife coming back in with an infection. What happened after that?
  11. That's really great Geoff! Thanks for posting that.
  12. Maybe you could just grit your teeth and go through all of the comparisons at once. Make sure to find things that she has done "better" at and some you have. When you've exhausted all the obvious make some comment like "well now that we've completely caught up let's never do that again. I've missed hearing your opinions and your jokes and I don't want...
  13. Home Remedies 1. If you are choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat and, presto, the blockage will be removed. 2. Clumsy? Avoid cutting yourself while slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop away. 3. Avoid arguments with your wife about lifting the toilet seat...
  14. Not sure I understand your description, but I do know that if I don't pee for a long time my bladder gets stretched out and doesn't empty well.
  15. Dry ice is technically a dangerous substance and would be more trouble than it's worth to get on an airplane. You could get some dry ice to put in a cooler and use that to freeze your ice packs. They'll be much, much colder than if you put them in your freezer (-80C vs -1C).
  16. Put my name on your collection of gluten-free recipes!
  17. Some big proteins (gluten, casein) are thought to be inflammatory in many people. Naturopaths often suggest removing these from the diet (for a long time) to see if it helps. I think the time needed to judge if it's helping or not is 1-2 months.
  18. Increase your fiber (e.g. eat blackberries instead of strawberries) and maybe consider a chewable fiber tablet (inulin, not bran). Add calcium (shown to decrease hunger). Eat many small meals (just eating increases your metabolism a bit).
  19. I think it's a blood test to look for antibodies. The treatment is (or was a couple years ago) antibiotics along with PPIs to decrease the acidity of your stomach and make the bacteria more susceptible to the antibiotics. I read somewhere that H.pylori is really prevalent, but not everyone has symptoms from it. Still, it's just a blood test...
  20. I just found someone's powerpoint presentation about this FGM It looks as if it's associated with H.pylori, focal has a low risk of progressing to anything more serious, and treating the H.pylori may have some benefit.
  21. I would totally get a second opinion or I'd be a basket case for a year. Have the slides read by a different person/lab/technician, whatever is appropriate, and if the same results are found you can consider another biopsy (by a different doctor would be my suggestion).
  22. Your liver can fix itself, don't stress over it. The yellow spot could be a healing bruise and the striae could be new stretch marks from the sudden weight gain. (Did your boobs get bigger?)
  23. You can also tell them that it may be related to Celiac, but that doesn't mean it can ignore it and not treat it.
  24. When you're feeling "intolerant"?
  25. [big sigh] I have to miss it - dinner out with friends.
