  1. I can't think of any reason why eating gluten for another endoscopy would be a good idea, or even informative. You feel bad now, and you aren't eating gluten. Why does she care what happens when you do eat gluten? What would she change in her treatment of you if a new endoscopy was positive? or negative for that matter?
  2. Maybe you can suggest to them that if they can't figure out how important this is to you, you'll be forced to get a "i love my retarded cousin" shirt.
  3. Open Original Shared Link This could apply to Celiac as well.
  4. I eat them in Seattle.
  5. I would think you'd require a business license, because aren't you, after all, distributing luck? So even if it isn't littering, it's still on the shady side of the law....
  6. Hey Firegirl! My parents live outside of Spokane! But back to the question. If you think you are getting glutened by what's on the charts, think of what other nasty things are lurking on them. Maybe wearing gloves is a really good idea.
  7. First off - love my job. Research scientist studying the genetics of the immune response. Second - Holy crap Paula!! Anyone that has ever actually observed a full time mom can be nothing but absolutely astonished that any one human being could posses the patience, the organization, and the calmness required to be a mom while still being able to respond...
  8. Sigh I finished out my week of bad eating by stuffing my face with potato chips and sitting on my butt reading Harry Potter. And then I spent two nights not sleeping because that's what my body does when I don't eat well. So this morning, back in the saddle. 3/4 cup home made yogurt 3 tomatoes 2 bananas 3 cups coffee more than usual, but...
  9. Pregnant women are so funny. I had a boss who was very pregnant and I asked her when her baby was due. She said, well, I've been in labor since about three this morning so hopefully sometime this afternoon. I asked why she had even come in to work and she said she didn't want to sit around and be bored.
  10. Rosey, I meant to say take one less pill each week (sorry, should have worded that better). So go from 7 to six and see how you feel. If everything seems fine for that week go to 5 pills. To give your stomach a chance to remember how to produce the right amount of acid.
  11. I've been avoiding the thread since I have done absolutely nothing healthy all week.
  12. Before springing for that, see if you can get a copy of whatever test your doctor's office did. They may have tested all the genes because the kit comes with a whole panel of DQ tests.
  13. Whatever you do, don't doubt yourself. You're his mom and you know him better than any doctor.
  14. Yes. If you change the wording to be "I don't have any of the known genes for Celiac could I have it" It makes more sense.
  15. !!!!!!!!!
  16. I just wanted to point out that everyone makes a few mistakes when they're getting started. Just swear at the box or whatever, roll your eyes at the new frustration, and go back to being diligent.
  17. Maybe coming off it more slowly would help. Can you not take a pill once a week? Maybe combined with raven's suggestion of vinegar?
  18. I've never had a baby, but someone once offered me the following advice: Wait as long as you can before going to the hospital, and eat before you go because they don't let you eat when you're there.
  19. Definitions, then and now. 'Risky Behaviour' Then - buying something from a guy your brother's friend's roommate knows. Now - eating in a restaurant without personally inspecting the kitchen. 'Using protection' Then - (you know this one) Now - Dust mask when walking by a bakery. 'Being "bad"' Then - fill in your own experience Now...
  20. From an article that just came out. Sunlight and Artificial Ultraviolet B Radiation Sensible sun exposure can provide an adequate amount of vitamin D3, which is stored in body fat and released during the winter, when vitamin D3 cannot be produced. Exposure of arms and legs for 5 to 30 minutes (depending on time of day, season, latitude, and skin pigmentation...
  21.   How did you not fall on the floor laughing!
  22. Ursula knows a lot about this, but unfortunately she's on vacation. I know she says that cod liver oil is the best, and I've read elsewhere that, since vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin, the non-oil based pills aren't very well absorbed. It's a popular supplement on this forum so I'm sure you'll get more input. Maybe try the search function at the top...
  23. I did eat a lot of fish in the coastal places, and in Italy the gluten free stuff in the stores is clearly labeled. I brought my own pasta to one place where I stayed for 3 days and on the rare occasions that I ate in restaurants I ordered safe looking things and really only had a couple of incidents. Mostly I ate cheese and meat and tomatoes from stores...
  24. I'm so glad you're back. Clearly we need your determination to keep this thread going. I hope you enjoyed every extra bite that went in your mouth.
  25. Oh I'm so jealous. And I know exactly what you're describing, but unfortunately mine didn't clear up with going gluten free.
