  1. then....why wouldn't you look for additional issues instead of assuming that gluten-free will fix everything? If the tests are positive, you stop eating gluten, and only get MOSTLY better, wouldn't you go back to the doc for more testing? How does having a celiac disease diagnosis change that?
  2. So despite feeling better off gluten you won't change your diet if the tests are negative?
  3. And how much processed gluten-free substitutes?
  4. Why do you want a blood test and biopsy?
  5. Psappy psillies psinging psongs racing robots mushing dogs Where whonce were penile earring threads they talk of quakes and fires instead Of teenage boys of broken limbs of scary docs of missing buns But Spring springs bring Phresh phlooding phun washing out what now is done Build your boat and chuck the oars grab the sides and ride the...
  6. Mushroom's answer is exactly what I would have said. There's a test for "Celiac" and everything else gets lumped into the "gluten intolerance" category 'cause the docs don't have a lab test for it.
  7. Do you mean you want to find something other than eat the way you should? 'cause I don't think there's a better answer than that......
  8. Put soups/stews/chili/other squishy stuff in ziplock bags and freeze flat. You can then store them lined up on end like books. Freeze several small meals, but also the occasional big bowl of stuff. You can thaw it for a family meal, over leave in the frig for a few days if you don't mind eating the same thing several days in a row. You can also...
  9. KICK SOME BUTT!!!!!!!
  10. I put sliced celery, carrots, green pepper, green onion, cauliflower in the crock pot with a couple cups of chicken stock and cooked it on high for about two hours (also threw in salt, pepper, and garlic powder). I also put in about a cup of cooked bacon (maybe three strips cut up). I then poured in a can of coconut milk and a splash of white wine, sprinkled...
  11. salmon chowder with coconut milk.
  12. That's just such sweet way to phrase that sentiment, that I had to repeat it.
  13. My take on this? I've been dating a man who is amazing at communication, but terrible at admitting all the sappy love stuff. I've talked to him about this and this is what I've learned: Men are scared of messing up something good. Maybe more scared than women. "I'm extremely attracted to you" translates into "I'm completely in love with you but I...
  14. The risk of continuing to eat gluten when it's actually bad for you, is permanent damage to your body. The risk of eliminating gluten when it's not harmful to you is......a healthier diet (and a lot of inconvenience). I would (did) go gluten-free and focus on improving my eating habits. You can always go back to eating mainstream if you ultimately...
  15. Shroomiekins, I forget if you can do broccoli, but I sliced broc stems crosswise into thin oblongs and fried them in a bit of bacon grease with garlic and paprika. It was just a bit of grease, and I had the burner turned really low 'cause I was doing stuff, anyway, they got really crispy and tasted fabulous. Now I'm trying to figure out what other veggies...
  16. Got invited over for beef stew (made with gluten-free broth 'cause he was hoping I'd come over :) )
  17. I eat all these sorts of things for breakfast. Yesterday I had salmon and this morning it was sampling of my crockpotted roast.
  18. Woot!! It's not raining!! I'm going for my walk this morning. Haven't done so in a very long time (stupid distracting boyfriend ) and I'm so excited.
  19. Rearranging your entire life is a hard hard thing. Your feelings are completely normal and something almost everyone goes through. I know it's overwhelming and frightening (and maddening and scary and humorous and all kinds of feelings) but it does get easier with time. You find ways to make it work for you, whatever your lifestyle. Hang around...
  20. Yes. Give the diet a good six months since neuro stuff can take longer to clear up.
  21. Yes!! Spend some time on the board and you'll see numerous posts from people who've gone back to school to complete degrees they had to abandon when they got sick. I'm in the process of building up my math background so I can apply to a Biostatistics graduate program. Your brain will come back.
  22. Happy Birthday David!!!
