ARCHIVED I Really Wanted To Make A Mini Bio To See If Someone Would Relate
rinne replied to mr. moore's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Check out this site for dangers of aspartame: Open Original Shared Link As for why give up the rice bread, processed food is harder for the body to process and by eating a simple diet of unprocessed foods you give your body a break. Just one week. Gotta sleep now, it is late here on the prairies. -
ARCHIVED I Really Wanted To Make A Mini Bio To See If Someone Would Relate
rinne replied to mr. moore's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi. Thank you for sharing your story and congratulations on being so articulate. I am astonished that given the burden that has been placed on your system, that you have what it takes to want something else, to believe something else tells me that you are an extraordinary person and capable of finding their way through this mess. And it is a... -
ARCHIVED Barry Callebaut Chocolate
rinne replied to JennyC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, if you haven't had their chocolate before you will be happy. It is good. I find the semi-sweet the best, the darkest is a little bitter, the milk chocolate is also very nice but I don't do that kind of dairy. I used it when I ran a deli to make a gluten free brownie that was very popular. Enjoy.. -
ARCHIVED Has The Specific Carbohydrate Diet Helped You?

More: (ignore if you read this on the OMG thread, please excuse the repetition.) About three weeks ago I started the SCD, I am having real success with it. The reason I started was that a friend, recently diagnosed with a wheat allergy, asked me for some recipes and I went to town with my amaranth, rice, tapioca, etc. flours and baked up all sorts... -
ARCHIVED Could My Living Situation Be Contributing To Still Being Sick?
rinne replied to sweetlovelyjen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
What about your exposure to antibiotics? Have you been on them? Your diet sounds a lot like mine at a certain point although I was adding green peas to the chicken, rice combo. I didn't feel as bad as I did when I was eating gluten but I still felt horrible on that diet. You said you have had migraines, me too and what hell they are, I think they... -
ARCHIVED Could My Living Situation Be Contributing To Still Being Sick?
rinne replied to sweetlovelyjen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
What kind of symptoms do you have? What are you eating? When you say you are getting sicker, how sick are you? It would seem to me that you should be seeing some improvements by now if gluten is the only issue but so much depends on how long you were ill and how damaged the villi are. It can take a year or two and for some never but getting sicker... -
ARCHIVED Could My Living Situation Be Contributing To Still Being Sick?
rinne replied to sweetlovelyjen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Debbie. Five biopsies! Wow. I am sorry to hear that you are reacting to everything, even water. What are your symptoms? How long have you been sick? Were your digestive problems preceded by years of migraines or arthritis or.... how old are you? The more you can tell us, the more helpful we can try to be, I can't promise help but... -
ARCHIVED Could My Living Situation Be Contributing To Still Being Sick?
rinne replied to sweetlovelyjen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi. So much depends on how long you were sick and how much damage was done, it may take time to heal, a year or two or... Yes, cross-contamination can be an issue and even the tiniest amounts may trigger a reaction, it may be that but it may also be that it just takes time. Some have problems with dairy initially and it may be helpful to cut... -

Hello. About three weeks ago I started the SCD, I am having real success with it. The reason I started was that a friend, recently diagnosed with a wheat allergy, asked me for some recipes and I went to town with my amaranth, rice, tapioca, etc. flours and baked up all sorts of goodies, then I ate all sort of goodies Not really, but I did... -
Thanks for your response, I am so glad that you didn't react negatively to the HPV. Personally, I am way past the age for such a vaccination but I have nieces and young friends that may receive it and some of what I am reading really scares me. It made me wonder if anyone is showing up here with digestive issues that she is being told have nothing...
-
Hi, I came across a web site devoted to problems young women were experiencing after receiving this vaccination and some were having digestive problems in addition to the fainting and seizures. I was wondering if anyone here found that their problems began with this vaccination. Here is a link: Open Original Shared Link

ARCHIVED Has The Specific Carbohydrate Diet Helped You?
rinne replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
One symptom I will mention is that when I eat any kind of grains it feels like broken glass moving through my digestive tract. I was confused about that because sometimes I would have that sensation and I wouldn't have eaten any grains, now I am thinking that it was the bananas (not SCD ripe) or other foods not on the SCD. I am not having that symptom to... -

Hi, I haven't been on it long enough to really know but I am seeing improvement and it has only been a couple of weeks. -
ARCHIVED Scd Almond Flour--what Are The Options?
rinne replied to mftnchn's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks Rachelle, it seems I react to cross-contamination of the almond flour with other grains and therefore the gluten free plant does me no good. -
ARCHIVED Scd Almond Flour--what Are The Options?
rinne replied to mftnchn's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, I was told the almond flour from JK Gourmet meets the standards for the SCD (no cross contamination with any grains) and I was assuming that the US supplier would also meet those standards, definitely worth inquiring. Perhaps my experience with the cross contamination of Bob's almond flour is with other non-wheat grains. I have experimented with... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
rinne replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I think there is a serious connection between the number of people with digestive issues and their exposure to antibiotics, which I think then leads to a crisis and depending on your genetics it may lead to arthritis, diabetes....... I agree with you. I think once we have tipped into illness it is no longer enough to avoid certain foods in order to... -
ARCHIVED Scd Almond Flour--what Are The Options?
rinne replied to mftnchn's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, if you are in the states you could try "Lucy's Kitchen Shop" at 1-888-484-2126, the cost depends on the quantity. I am in Canada and just ordered 25 lbs. for $175.00 plus shipping, from JK Gourmet at 1-416-782-0045. Bob's Red Mill is anywhere from $11.00 to $15.00 a pound here and from the package it is clear there is no guarantee it is gluten... -
ARCHIVED Dedicated Scd Recipe Thread
rinne replied to AliB's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I ordered almond flour today from JKgourment and they mentioned that Bob's is milled in the same facility as other grains flour, I had wondered because I felt like I was having a very slight reaction to it, it wasn't even so much a horrible physical reaction, more a "not right" feeling. My husband has been very supportive, our house has been gluten free... -
All good points. There was an article in the paper the other day about infant formula in Canada with melamine in it. The highest percentage was in an organic brand that had purchased their soy from China. From my perspective this is not about blame, it is about responsibility. I don't believe the recommended dosages for anything, they change...

I'm with you, I tend to avoid chemicals and processed food and did for many years prior to becoming ill. It makes me wonder though, from what I am reading the Japanese consume 50 times more iodine (natural source) than the U.S. recommends. They do not have the same incidence of breast cancer that we do. So, if people used to get from one slice of bread...

Open Original Shared Link I thought you might find this of interest: I am new to the SCD and digestion issues are my thing so I think I will be strict, I want to give it a real try.

I love seaweed, hijiki with carrots and ginger sauteed in sesame oil, YUM, but I am doing the SCD and seaweed is not permitted.

Thanks Shay. I will be careful. My predicament is that I have lost all confidence in conventional medicine to either diagnose or treat illness. I did check out the sites you referred me to, on the first site I notice they refer to intravenous iodine used successfully as a treatment for cancer and of course they talked about the skin test...

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
rinne replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi everyone. I just came across this and found it very interesting: From Elaine Gottschall Most yogurt nowadays has Bifidus in it, mmmmm. Actually there was a lot on that page that was interesting and since my link didn't work, here it is: Elaine writes: Bifidis is normally the only gut bacteria present in breast fed babies...
