ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
rinne replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
ChelsE thanks for the link. I was at the deli yesterday talking to the owner about food allergies and such and he told me his cousin just found out she has a soy allergy and it is in everything, even the olive oil that says it is pure olive oil. -
ARCHIVED 3 Random Gluten Questions
rinne replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As far as the scotch goes I had one drink after two and a half weeks gluten free and woke up the next day in serious pain so I would say no, I know I won't be drinking scotch again. -
ARCHIVED Adverse Reaction To Garlic From Celiac Disease
rinne replied to tessie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That is very interesting, I've never heard that candida being killed off can make you feel bad. Could you say more or do you have a particular site you think is good for information about Candida? -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
rinne replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I've noticed a dizziness in the past year or so, it is like I'm drunk, just a little bit, and I have to concentrate to keep walking in a straight line. It has been less since I've been somewhat gluten free. The symptoms we all share astonish me. I think it was on this thread/book that there was a discussion about earings and glutening, yes? In the past... -
Is she eating dairy? I found that until I quit eating it I continued to feel bloated. I also have to avoid the gluten free treats, even moderately they really don't agree with me.

ARCHIVED After Three Years, I Need Some Outside Help
rinne replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Interesting. I am torn between sympathy for your boyfriend and concern for you. From your story, it appears that you are willing to leave your comfort zone to be with this young man but it does not appear that he is willing to do the same for you. I wonder if, because he was so ill in the beginning and perhaps couldn't really do much for you, this... -
ARCHIVED 1 Year & Just Not Getting It
rinne replied to bknutson's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well, I often feel that I am taking two steps forward and sliding back one or sometimes that I'm taking one step forward and two steps back. Please don't put yourself down for struggling with this. -
ARCHIVED "body Ecology Diet" - Anyone Done It?
rinne replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Please do. I know I am in denial about my maple syrup addiction and suspect it is time to cut out sugars. -
Typically, we do not realize that good health is a boon, a blessing, a great gift, until it eludes us. I have not suffered physically so much, it has only been this winter that I got really ill and I am 51, but mentally I see now how much depression and rage was linked to my diet. I have known that for at least 10 years and have been able to make mental...

ARCHIVED "body Ecology Diet" - Anyone Done It?
rinne replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm curious to know more about this diet but I am leery of any diet that appears to rely on products the promoters of the diet are selling. I'm also feeling overwhelmed with the various diets about what to eat and what to avoid. Lately I have been trying to just listen to my body and what it is saying and it is saying vegetables, fish, meat, and fruit... -
ARCHIVED My Psychologist Is Interested In Celiac Connection
rinne replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This thread really resonates with me. I tried to commit suicide at 11 and then again at 19. At 16 they had put me on anti-depressants but I never took them. I fought depression for much of my 20's. I'm 51 now and when I think of the hours I have spent enraged at nothing, just for the sake of rage, it saddens me that I didn't understand the relationship... -
I found that licorice tea, you can buy the sticks at a health food store, simmered for about 10 minutes, just 6 - 8 pieces in two cups of water, really helps. Also getting horizontal, I can always find a space that is relatively pain free and hang out there for a while, just for a break. The biggest difference came though when I stopped eating dairy...

Are you eating dairy? I found that cutting out dairy helps, it seems that Celiacs often have problems digesting dairy until the villi are healed. I have a lot of pain, when I get glutened it feels like huge talons are clutching my entire torso with a burning pain across my belly and stabbing pain under the left side of my rib cage. The consequences...

ARCHIVED For Those Who Are gluten-free But Tested Negative....
rinne replied to jayhawkmom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes. I have known for years that I don't digest wheat and would generally avoid it but I would also make exceptions, toasted tomato sandwiches when the summer tomatoes from the garden are perfect and shortbread cookies at Christmas, and wedding cakes or really any cake served to me.....you get the picture. I would deal with the discomfort and swear to... -
ARCHIVED Losing My Mind With These Doctors
rinne replied to chgomom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Trust your gut. Hang around here and listen to other people's stories. It is astonishing how many people have a variety of other diagnoses before finally finding out that underneath their ill health is Celiac. When they diagnose Celiac with a biopsy they are finding damage, you can be a Celiac without them finding damage and if you believe them (that... -
I like your flexibility and your humor Andrea. Through much of my twenties I was a vegetarian and consumed a fair bit of soy, given that I now have cysts which are related to estrogen gone wild and soy is high in estrogens I question that decision. I don't know much about the metabolic diet but I am planning on correcting that. I have been following...

ARCHIVED Annalise Roberts' Coconut Cake
rinne replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I agree that she has worked hard to create these recipes and we can show our appreciation by purchasing the cookbook and I also think that if the recipe was posted here for the coconut cake and we loved it then for sure we would buy the book. -
ARCHIVED My Psychologist Is Interested In Celiac Connection
rinne replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Please don't be sorry for trusting yourself to speak. I really admire your honesty. -
ARCHIVED Brown Rice Crispes
rinne replied to graindamage's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Here's one for you, I made this up last night. Banana Ice Cream 1 large frozen banana (peel before freezing) 1 generous Tablespoon almond butter 1-2 Tablespoons Maple syrup Roughly chop banana, add all ingredients to a food processor, blend till well combined, serve immediately, makes two modest servings or one generous serving. The... -
ARCHIVED Brown Rice Crispes
rinne replied to graindamage's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
That does sound good though I am off peanut butter so I might substitute almond butter, have you ever tried that? Do you think it would work? Thanks for the recipe. -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
rinne replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Rachel, I've been wondering what you do at work and if there is something there that is toxic to you. I remember hearing about "Konk" many years ago, it is an insecticide that is often found in produce areas of large supermarkets. It releases insecticide automatically every twenty minutes and is in a canister that is generally mounted on a wall. -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
rinne replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Rachel, I'm so sorry your vacation has been anything but. I hope this medication begins to have some benefits for you soon. -
ARCHIVED Doctors Vs. Pharmaceutical Companies
rinne replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Doctors
This is a fascinating thread, many interesting ideas and comments. I think the person to person approach is very effective, especially if it is coming from someone who is well and happy. I talk to everyone about gluten intolerance now and I can see the connections being made by many people, I know at least three people's diets have changed since... -
ARCHIVED Life Is Finally Starting To Brighten
rinne replied to Lister's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm glad you are feeling better. -
Bully4You, this is what I am wondering too. Reflecting on my life I can see that I often did not behave in a ways that demonstrated self-protection, really much more like I've lived my life feeling like I didn't have any value and it made little difference if I was dead or alive. I have been given to the dramatic moment too. The thing is, so much of this...
