Cc Or Cold?

Hi all

Well, you know how Celiacs are, any time we get sick, or something unusual is going on, the first thing we wonder is What did I eat!?

I've had a weird sore throat all this week. I was wiped on the weekend, and on tuesday stayed home cause I was exausted, but didn't have any cold symptoms other than a scratchy sore throat, and a general icky feeling in my mouth and throat. Also nauseous with slight stomach pain, and a cough. It's not my usual glutened/soyed feeling. It could be mild seasonal allergies, or possibly strep (please don't be strep!)

The only non-cooked-by-me thing I've had in the past week was dinner out on Saturday, which was a lovely chickpea salad-type dish. The wait staff knew their stuff, and there were few items on the menu with gluten, so while cc is always possible, I didn't get any usual glutening signs, just my stomachs usual protest and me making it digest so many chickpeas, and even that wasn't bad/

Anyway, my energy has come back since tuesday, but I still have this weird sore throat/nausea feeling. Should I mark it down as CC? or should I get myself to the clinic if it's not gone in a couple days (that'll be a week since it started). I've been gargling with salt water, but not enough to make a difference. Need to step up that, and apple cider vinegar, see if I can kill it.

Anyway, any advice would be welcome. Don't want to go to the doctor if I don't have to.

Cheers

Peg

I would, we're it me, assume it was a cold, but wouldn't go in - with mild symptoms, these things can linger for longer than a week. I might go in after two or three weeks....

IrishHeart Veteran

I had  the flu in February. I never get the flu.  Guess it was my turn.

I was not CCed. I felt like death warmed over...it was awful for several days and then, the hubs got it. WHY?? He even got the flu shot!

So, we filed it under "sh*t happens because we go to the gym and people sneeze and touch things and well...

.....

Hon. sometimes we get "sick" just like everyone else.

I am saying...do not assume gluten is the culprit every time you get a sore throat or a pimple or a back ache.

Sometimes, it is something else. And soon, it will pass.

Drink hot liquids and rest.

Take care.  I hope you feel better soon!

thanks guys.

I didn't really think it was cc, but hey, you never know.

I'm attacking it with apple cider vinegar, and I'm still the same in a couple days I'll get it checked out, to know what's up. No way am I taking antibiotics unless I absolutely have to.

Yep, I had the evil flu about a month ago, both me and the man. Worst cold I've had in a while.

Anyway, thanks for being my sounding board.

Have a great weekend

Peg

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
