Heat And Humiditiy And Better Tolerance

ok so living on the East Coast means heat and the dreaded humidity during the summer.  With dew points in the 70-80 range, it's always sticky.  Maybe this sounds crazy, but I am able to tolerate the humidity so much better this summer even though I'm a little heavier since last summer.

maybe it's a stetch trying to relate this to gluten, but do you think it's possible my body is able to regulate itself better since I've gone gluten free, and that's why I'm tolerating the heat better?  Don't get me wrong, I still hate humidity, but it seems my body is able to cope with it better this year.

Did anyone else expierence this?

Yes....it is possible that your body is functioning stronger and therefore better able to regulate heat/humidity.

Sounds like another thing to add to your improved symptom list to me :)

I have always had trouble with humidity.  Heat also but more so when it's humid out.  I am severely allergic to mold so it's a no brainer that I would have problems dealing with soupy weather.

This has not gotten any better since I went gluten free.  However, in all fairness, I dumped into full blown menopause 1 year before I was diagnosed with Celiac so I basically am screwed!  :(

90's and humid all week-end long.  Blech!

I have always loved the heat, enjoyed the sun and never had a problem with humidity.

Like my Dad. He could work outside all day long. No problem.

I had  a tan from working in the garden and being in the water (beach or pool or lake...)...

until

I became very ill   from undiagnosed celiac and so, for 3 summers, mysteriously, I could not tolerate

the sun (I would fry! and my skin and joints were burning already anyway) and I felt weak and out of breath  and yet, I was cold.

That was some crazy stuff.

:) then....

Last summer, 1.5 years after Dx, I was able to enjoy the sun, the warmth, the heat again.

This summer, is even better.

My hair is in ringlets and I am "glowing" (my friend's Mom said we should never said "sweat"t in Bahston) but I am loving it, baby!!

and I damn well better or moving to Florida is a big giant mistake

The last few years I lived in New England I couldn't take it anymore. The heat and humidity never bothered me THAT much before, but those last few years I literally thought I was going to lose my mind. I was passing out from it, sick to my stomach, and an absolute raving maniac! One night I even turned the A/C to its coldest temp and took every fan in the house and had them all blowing directly on me. Needless to say I woke up in extreme pain. I could barely move, my joints hurt so much.

I realize now that my celiac disease probably started at about the same time my intolerance to heat and humidity did.

Now that I live out west where the most humidity we see is around 40%, life is good! No more arthritis pain, and no more crazy nights with A/C and fans. As a matter of fact, I don't even put the window units in at home anymore because nights are cool and a couple of windows open are enough. I have a fan that I use maybe four or five nights out of the year.

Yeah, there's not much good to eat here, but the trade-off is worth it. :)

Since I have gone gluten free last year, I too do tolerate the humidity much better. I live in the Carribean area, humid climate the whole year through. Although September still has to come (hottest and most humid month), I have not complained at all compaired to the same period last year.

these responses are great!  I was visiting my parents and watching the news when the weatherman came on and was saying these dew points in the 70s were just too high.  That's when I thought, well it is really hot, and I feel the humidity, but yet it's not near as intense for me.  I'm spending the majority of my 4th of July outside in the heat and humidity of the city of brotherly love, but it should be a great time because John Mayer is performing right before the fireworks at the Philly art museum.  Pretty excited about it!!  Hope everyone has a great 4th of July  :)

Years ago when I was young (when dinosaurs roamed the Earth)

I had friends who lived in St. Thomas and St. John and when I was gettng ready to visit, I wondered how well I would do with the climate.

I honestly felt wonderful there! ..the beaches were gorgeous, the people friendly and after one week, I told my (ex) husband

"I want to live here! let's do this!!"

I actually got an application to teach at the University of the USVI on St. Thomas.

But he was a big fat poopyhead and would not go for it.

(that is also why he is my ex) :)

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.

Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
