Trusted friends...!

I'm posting for a friend who has a child of 6 years recently diagnosed with diabetes type 1. She knows of the link between celiac and diabetes, but I'm finding it hard to find any info online for her... She desperately wants to look at every possibility to keep him healthy, and he has recently displayed some celiac type symptoms. The docs here in uk won't acknowledge the link easily. So am trying to help her. But I have no experience or links to show her. (Am more of an expert in celiac and allergy!!)

Anyone have any useful info or links, would really appreciate it... As always, many thanks

I had breakfast at the G F cafe yesterday near me, and a little girl (age 6) was sitting next to me. Her Dad told me she

was Dxed at 3 with type 1 diabetes (she wears an insulin pump) and now, celiac.

Well, that little angel was enjoying a sugar free cupcake

and when i said " I have celiac too!" , she said "oh boy!. so, you're on my team?"

I was never so honored in my life. I almost cried.

I said "yes, babe...and YOU are a celiac warrior princess.... just like me!".

I talked with her Dad some more and realized what a struggle it has been for them, but now, they are ok.

Yes,  the Type 1 diabetes and celiac connection is documented in every celiac book and article I have ever read!!!.

TYPE in This (below) ....and PUB Med articles galore will pop up

Children  celiac  type 1 diabetes.

There is a ton of info on it.

Thanks Irish as always. I'm passing this all on to my friend tomo... It's strange, the longer I go in with this disease the more people I hear of having it... Or at least someone who knows someone who has celiac... I often wonder if they have the stats wrong and it's more than 1in 100!!

Oh no, sorry to here that. I don't know what pre diabetes really means though I'm sure it's as it sounds. Fingers crossed for you... Are you actually celiac or just your mum?

hi

from what i gathered pre diabetic means im definately on the way to being diagnosed with diabetes. my mum already has it.

all my tests have been negative. so no celiac although i know i have a problem with it. my mum on the other hand has all the auto immune diseases associated with celiac and is being sent for a camera down the throat by the doc.shes having problems with her throat and hes checking if the problem is further down to her stomach. shes being very sneaky about it and not telling us much.i think its because ive been mentioning celiac to her and now shes a bit worried.

im feeling a bit mean at the moment because im hoping that they do a proper check on her and take biopsies and find celiac. it would just explain so much within the family. god i feel so bad now for saying that. anyway whatever happens i just hope shes ok :)

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
