I recently celebrated my birthday last week, and to my surprise at work they got an gluten free birthday cake for the office. I was so happy about it.  I was seriously moved by the gesture and thought well so I'm a year older but it was nice to turn a year older and have that awesome of a treat. Just a bummer I am inching more years toward  40.

happy belated birthday & by the way you are just a young pup!!!! 40 isn't anything when you consider the alternative!!!!! It's always better looking down than looking up from the ground!!!!

Happy Birthday a week late. What a nice thing for them to do. You must work in a great office.

Be happy you are still inching toward forty. Once you get there you will be racing to sixty. May you always be twenty five looking from the inside out.

Hey, don't worry about your age. I just turned 70 and I am very active, physically and mentally, and having the time of my life. I finally have no full time responsibilities and enough money to do the things I want to (within reason). Age is purely mind over matter... if you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
