How crazy do I need to go with getting my home gluten free? I am giving away all gluten containing food and possibly cross contaminated foods like sugar and PB. For cooking items, I am cleaning the oven and everything in the kitchen, getting rid of the toaster, plastic containers, spatulas, plastic mixing bowls, marble rolling pin, cookie cutters, sandwich shape cutters, hand mixer, old baking pans that may have cooked on cake/cookie batter, pizza stone and cutter, flour jars...

What about my daughter's sippy cups (possible crumbs in crevices), serrated knives, other knives? Am I missing anything else? Am I getting rid of too much?

I would get new sippy cups! Too many crevices. Sounds like you have it down.

If you can toss most of that in the dishwasher, it should be fine.  The sippy cups, maybe--but again, if you can wash/rinse them well, they will be fine.  Your hand mixer should be fine too.  Plastic that is intact is fine, scratched up, probably not.  The toaster is obvious--no possible way of cleaning that.

Sounds  like  you are  in control.... a  stand  mixer  is  fine  but  take  a good look  at  a  hand  mixer  where  the air  vents  are,  you  probably  will see  residue  of  wheat  flour  blowing  around  or  suck  to the  air  vents.. I would  get  a  new  hand  mixer.. Also  if  you have  a  bread  maker  used  with  wheat  flour  , get a  new one  for only gluten-free, no  way  to clean  the  crevices  around  the  paddles....don't  forget  the  mustard  jar, jelly  jar, mayo  jar! wooden  cutting  board or  anything  scratched   or  marred  ie: non stick  cooking   utensils,  wooden  utensils,  cast  iron  that is  scratched.. colander.....

Also  remember  to check out  your  toothpaste, lipstick  for  gluten  ingredients,  prescription  drugs  ..

Donate  your   gluten  items...

You're well on your way.  :)  Looks good.

I wouldn't think that you would need to get rid of a marble rolling pin. Marble isn't porous.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
