I called the manufacturer of most of the makeup I wear (Mary Kay), and they gave me some statement about not being able to guarantee the ingredients in their products, and they would refer me to my doctor for his guidance. I'm sure she was reading from a script.

I'm just curious if anyone has had similar experiences with makeup companies, and if they've found a company that will actually stick by their ingredients? I really, really, really don't want to give up Mary Kay makeup, I've tried others and nothing else compares.

Have you tried Bare Escentuals? I have used it even before I went gluten-free. Their makeup line is gluten free althouth some of their lotions and bath products have wheat in them. I really love their makeup--I get it through QVC--if you want it, I'll post the phone# to call to get a catalogue.

If you cant get a straight answer from them...I wouldnt use their products. I didnt have problems with the companies I called. I dont use Mary Kay so I have no idea about them. How is your doctor suppossed to know what ingredients Mary Kay uses? That was a lame statement IMO.

hi, I received a list that had covergirl on it as gluten-free. I was using Avon glazewear all this time and didnt realize is had gluten in it. So I changed to everything covergirl.

I also switched to Bare Escentuals. I had a hard time "trusting" makeup companies. ...And honestly, once I started doing the research on the ingredients in my makeup/products, I wanted to switch to "all natural" ones, b/c the mainstream contain many harmful ingredients...even if it is hard to believe!

Where do you girls buy the Bare Essentials brand makeup (what type of store)?

I get mine through QVC. They have a BE line #1-800-345-4492. They will send you a free catalogue. They offer reduced shipping through the catalogue--$3.97 for the whole order. I like the catalogue because it shows the whole line w/ all the colors. Also, tomorrow (11/19), QVC will be featuring BE throughout the day. Yes, I am a bit of a QVC junkie! :(

You can also get the Bare Essentials-Bare Minerals makeup at Sephora. There are several BE stores as well. I know there's one in the Delta terminal at the Atlanta Airport.

Jen, I checked out the Sephora link--it looked great! Thanks. Also, I forgot to mention before that Ulta Stores carry a limited number of Bare Escentuals products. I've seen the foundations there as well as a few other things.

      Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

      Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

      Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

      Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
