Corn & Soy Avoidance

After being diagnosed celiac a few months ago, I've been still dealing with continuing symptoms. Cutting out gluten helped a little, then I added in corn, and that also helped a little. This weekend I started cutting out all soy, and I'm actually starting to see a little bit of a difference (meaning I'm not dealing with the inflammation 24/7 that I have been day in and day out).

Can I ask if you guys have any webpages or go-to places to find recipes and code words for soy and corn? I learned the hard way with corn a bunch of times (canola oil, and the other hidden names for it).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

It is very difficult to avoid corn. It is in so many things. Canola is not corn so you should not have a problem with that unless the oil was part corn oil and part canola. My son has a severe allergy to corn where his throat closes up if he eats corn. I myself have also developed an intolerance to corn since finding out I have celiac. You need to look out for maltodextrin - that is usually derived from corn - trying finding food without it - difficult - it is in everything - Gaterade! Watch for baking powder, bread crumbs, double check all your medicines - most probably have corn. It is going to be trial and error to find out how much you could tolerate. Powdered sugar has corn. But they sell a powder sugar without corn on Amazon. Look out for corn syrup - again in so many things. If you google corn allergy there is alot of information. My son is ok with high fructose corn syrup since the corn protein is removed but he can not ear corn syrup. Good Luck!

Corn is a bloody nightmare to remove, Have to watch out for maltodextrin,  modified food starch, baking powder, some vegetable fibers, vegetable oils, corn syrups etc. I only use certain brands myself to avoid. If your eating processed foods, (which you should be on a whole foods only diet for the first for months to boost healing) I might suggest Enjoy Life, Simply Mills for mixes etc. What are you looking for I can help out find you just about anything. I have had a bad corn allergy for years.    I have a list of gluten-free foods I posted on the site before, but adding corn to that list limits it extremely.

After waisted time of new care team, yet again EXHAUSTED saw new gi today in Modesto, though all my ailments im not getting any kind of concern of me being celiac and sentive to just about everything since menopause. Dr daid why don't I go see you guys because my blood shows zero for celiac. I told him im glutenfree since 1994 by colonoscopy with biopsy positive celiac sprue by GI.Its RIDICULOUS when im bringing in material from this site of knowledge as well as the autoimmune institute, and  there's zero interest on their part.Medical IS causing me depression.Im view as a disability chaser, IM STILL RECOVERING from being a bus driver that im still healing and having more issues, now I may have multiple sclerosis or meningioma. Ive reached out, wrote letters, NOT feeling well. This is inhumane.

I was taking medicine for sibo but it was not agreeing with my stomach at all.Was on gabapentin but it amps me up.I was taking in morning because it wasn't allowing me to sleep. This has always been an issue with medicine and me.Even going to dentist, the good shot that numbs you once, I can't take because it makes my heart beat fast and I  get the shakes.I have to take the crappy stuff and get injected always more than 4 times always. Its infuriating

I said um no they have doctors and knowledge behind what is being written. So bay area is Downplaying this site! SADLY

If you successfully digest gluten with enzyme supplements so it won’t give you side effects, your challenge won’t be worthwhile because the digested fragments of gluten also won’t stimulate antibody production or cause intestinal damage.
