Has anyone ever had a problem with glutino pretzels? well i have been having the problems with my celiac and only after lunch and lately i have been only having a piee of fruit and these pretzels. so i dont know but the package only says that they may contain sesame. and at first i though it may be the corn but i dont get sick with any other corn product. so i dont know what is going on.

Hi,

I have tried the glutino pretzals and had no problems with them. But, I do react to some products with corn ingredients, as well as sesame. It's really hit and miss. I would stop eating them for a while and then try them again to see what happens. Good luck.

I have been eating them off and on for about five months and I have not had a problem. I know that is not much help, sorry.

I don't have any problem with them but I do prefer the flavor of EnerG's pretzels instead. They just have a better flavor. Maybe you won't react to them?

I've eaten the Glutino pretzels several days the past week with no problem.

I tried Glutino lemon wafers and got sick. I contacted them and they said that their facility is gluten free, but I don't know what kind of guarentees come with the flours they get - that is, do they process their own flours or do they buy them off of someone else? I suppose it could have been egg too - though the cookies did not have egg as an ingrediant, it mentioned that it may contain traces of egg. Anyhow, not sure if this info helps or not, but just writing to let you know that I too have had problems with the brand, just can't say for sure if it was egg or gluten.

Ener-G makes good gluten-free pretzels, maybe you could try them as a replacement for a while and then test yourself again with Glutino?

Hope you feel better soon!

I have eaten the Glutino pretzels on several occasions, and they have only caused a problem to my wallet. They are very good to eat, but expensive. :o

I have a slight reaction to a lot of gluten-free foods. Cookies, etc. The pretzels have never bothered me, but there are a lot of cookies that do. It isn't a full blown reaction, but enough to be annoying.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
