Is LiveGFree a Safe Brand?

I can't find a lot of information about it. Is it safe? The only store near by is Aldi's. I was going to go there today and get some stuff. I would just like some input on if it's a trustworthy brand. I'm still going to read all the labels before I get anything anyways.

I haven’t had it but wouldn’t hesitate to eat it.  I know quite a few local Celiacs that get it

Um depends, they had a few issues with them over the years. I think it might be safe now but at one point they had malt from barley in some of their products and a few issues with contamination. I have not heard of anything this year though.

Some of their gluten-free Certified products use to have the voluntary statement "May contain Wheat"! That was a while ago though. I would use caution and read the labels.

Here is a response for why they pulled their cheesecake:

thanks so much for reaching out! At ALDI, we have an unwavering commitment to quality. As part of that commitment, we work closely with our suppliers to ensure that all ALDI exclusive brands meet or exceed the standards and quality of the national name brands, including our liveGfree line of products. All of our liveGfree products are certified by an approved organization that verifies the product’s levels of gluten are less than 10 parts per million. These organizations include the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), Gluten-Free Certification Program (GFCP) and Celiac Sprue Association (CSA). This particular product was certified by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization and while the amount of gluten in our liveGfree cheesecake was well below their requirements and FDA limits, it was made at a plant that also makes regular cheesecake. This is why we added the "may contain traces of wheat" statement on the packaging. However, we understand the confusion regarding this claim and have removed the product from our stores. Thanks again for contacting us,

Thanks @Beverage for checking in!  I haven't changed the dogs' food yet.  I'm still working through some of the other issues that I need to remedy (transitioning to an anti-inflammatory diet, being sure to get only gluten-free certified items, and buying some new cookware for my kitchen).  Somewhere after that, I have on my list to try out the dogs on a new dog food, but I haven't gotten there yet.  In the meantime, though, I can definitely see that some of my worst days seem to follow when there's a possibility of gluten cross-contamination (I'm still working to cut waaay down on these instances) OR when I eat anything with dairy/ milk protein in it.  So I think I need to really get a better handle on my day-to-day eating habits to reduce all gluten cross-contamination into my food and also any dairy intake, and then at that point, I think I'll start moving over to the dog food thing.

Sounds like fun, and I was in Germany a few years ago so you might find these articles helpful:

I don't think you have the URL/site address correct, as there is nothing at that site.

Hello All I am traveling to Germany in October and will be in Berlin, Rothenburg ODT , Salzburg, Fussen and Munich.  I am also driving the northern part of the romantic road with stops in some of the smaller towns along the way.  I would really appreciate any recommendations for gluten-free friendly places, restaurants and any gluten-free beer gardens.  Thanks in advance, Laura
