Oh my gosh Judy! What a great idea! Thank you for doing that. I'm going to watch it now. I missed just a snipet since I was half asleep but I heard bloating and Celiac and I jumped so high I almost fell of the bed.

This is the beginning of something big for us people.

Hi Jen and FN

I'm so glad they did it too.

Realized last nite ;) I 'shouldn't have assumed it was MY email and taken credit for it',,,,,,maybe lots of others on the board and out in 'cyberspace' did too, but if so, better yet....It's still up there this am so who cares...they listened to someone.....

Hubby watched it too and thought it was good.

anxious to hear what son in CA thought of it....

I must be foggier than usual this morning - I can't find the video. If someone else finds it, can they add the link here?

Thanks.

It was just there, I watched it like ten minutes ago ( I teared up a bit too) and now I can't find the video. I predict that our ranks will swell after this though, I mean I demanded the blood test because of a magazine article.

I just went on the website, and I don't see the video. What is the description next to the link?

I e-mailed GMA and begged them to repost the video so others can see it. I have a client who is trying to help a friend so I wanted her to be able to see it. Anyway, I did find another video that maybe you all know about already buy I didn't. It came up in a Yahoo search. It's Open Original Shared Link and it's very informative indeed so we can refer people to it as well.

p.s. this link (above) is not working now but it was a minute ago. Does anyone think it's wierd that GMA has about 500 videos on their site, but I can't seem to find the Celiac video from last Thurs.??? Am I just overlooking it somehow? I went to the video link at the top of their home page, then tons of videos come up for different subjects such as health. Many stories are up from a long while back - but not the latest one.

p.s.s. My bad - I had a period in place of a slash. You should be able to view video by clicking on link above now.

Thanks so much for your post. Been off forum a few days.

I'll see if I can find it.

Nice to have one that's always there.

Just wanted to note that GMA finally got back to me today and said they are considering my request about putting the video back up on their site. I still find it fishy that they have about 500 videos on their site...some really old ones and yet they can't keep the Celiac video up for a week.

Me too FN :o

Thanks so much for doing that and glad they got back to you.

I think we're emailing the wrong person...Oprah....has she ever gotten back to ANYONE? .

GMA did this piece on their own, put it back after it was taken off...

just my thought, but if you have time, maybe you want to start a new thread about this AND we can bombard them with emails to put it back up. Sure a whole show at Oprah's would be nice. but maybe we can get news out faster esp. to our family and friends.co workers etc.

I'm going to write and ask if they'll put it back up too noting older ones there.

What do you think of the idea of --if they decided to do it--- they can email Scott and tell him when it's going on and some how he can post it. I won't mention that one till I hear from you. I'm too new to know whether Scott does stuff like this. Just an idea.

I like your idea about Scott getting involved but I don't know if he is willing to do this. Maybe he'll let us know. In any case, I will start the thread tomorrow aabout bombarding GMA to beg them to put the video back up. This is just plain odd to me. I know for sure (since I reg. watch GMA) that one of their videos (of so many) is over six months old. Why can't they give us our full fifteen minutes of fame?

I know, Scott's got his hands full. Maybe they could write you and you could post it. Maybe they will tell you about when it will go up so you can notify the forum  Maybe since your starting the thread that might work. Thanks so much for doing it. I didn't get the job done. Trying to get some other projects out of the way. Been spending way too much time on this computer... I promise I'll write Maybe you could post the link to where to write...I wrote to Dr Tim and the main 'contact page' maybe ther is a better one.

Thanks again.

Judy - On the www.gma.abcnews.com site, there is a place that says something like 'questions or comments'. That is how I e-mailed them both to thank Dr. Tim last week and to ask them to put the video back up. Bot today I noticed they now offer a service called 'video on demand' and they charge a monthly fee for it. I would not pay them a penny for that service!!!

Does anyone else think abc may have gotten a call from The National Wheat Assoc.?? I'm not one for conspiracy theories but I guess Shirley (member here) mentioned in another post how the Wheat assoc. sued the Celiac/org group because their logo is a sheath of wheat with the no symbol over it. Way more people were apt to see the Celiac story on GMA than ever to see the Celiac/org logo, right? It is not in question that some (if not all) large companies and industry assocations as a matter of routine search the web for stories that they either like or don't like about themselves. Any of you who work for such a place know what I'm talking about.

I emaild both of those places too. Thought at east Dr Tim would answer.

then sent another one today and think did a cut and paste will have to see. I'm really pissed  (pardon me) now. I'll paste it here if I find it.

It didn't copy but it was really pc but very strong. I wanted my dentist to see it

I've been kind of worried that something like this might happen. I mentioned it a while back in the Oprah thread. The network might not want to rile up the wheat growers (sponsers=money), and if they got a complaint from them, it could account for them pulling the video.

Welcome to the celiac.com communiuty, @Matthias! Yes, we have been aware that this can be an issue with mushrooms but as long as they are rinsed thoroughly it should not be a problem since the mushrooms don't actually incorporate the gluten into their cellular structure. For the same reason, one needs to be careful when buying aged cheeses and products containing yeast because of the fact that they are sometimes cultured on gluten-containing substrate.

The one kind of food I had been buying and eating without any worry for hidden gluten were unprocessed veggies. Well, yesterday I discovered yet another pitfall: cultivated mushrooms. I tried some new ones, Shimeji to be precise (used in many asian soup and rice dishes). Later, at home, I was taking a closer look at the product: the mushrooms were growing from a visible layer of shredded cereals that had not been removed. After a quick web research I learned that these mushrooms are commonly cultivated on a cereal-based medium like wheat bran. I hope that info his helpful to someone.

I might suggest you consider buckwheat groats. https://www.amazon.com/Anthonys-Organic-Hulled-Buckwheat-Groats/dp/B0D15QDVW7/ref=sr_1_4_pp?crid=GOFG11A8ZUMU&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.bk-hCrXgLpHqKS8QJnfKJLKbKzm2BS9tIFv3P9HjJ5swL1-02C3V819UZ845_kAwnxTUM8Qa69hKl0DfHAucO827k_rh7ZclIOPtAA9KjvEEYtaeUV06FJQyCoi5dwcfXRt8dx3cJ6ctEn2VIPaaFd0nOye2TkASgSRtdtKgvXEEXknFVYURBjXen1Nc7EtAlJyJbU8EhB89ElCGFPRavEQkTFHv9V2Zh1EMAPRno7UajBpLCQ-1JfC5jKUyzfgsf7jN5L6yfZSgjhnwEbg6KKwWrKeghga8W_CAhEEw9N0.eDBrhYWsjgEFud6ZE03iun0-AEaGfNS1q4ILLjZz7Fs&dib_tag=se&keywords=buckwheat%2Bgroats&qid=1769980587&s=grocery&sprefix=buchwheat%2Bgroats%2Cgrocery%2C249&sr=1-4&th=1 Takes about 10 minutes to cook. Incidentally, I don't like quinoa either. Reminds me and smells to me like wet grass seed. When its not washed before cooking it makes me ill because of saponins in the seed coat. Yes, it can be difficult to get much dietary calcium without dairy. But in many cases, it's not the amount of calcium in the diet that is the problem but the poor uptake of it. And too much calcium supplementation can interfere with the absorption of vitamins and minerals in general because it raises gut pH.

What you’re describing really does not read like typical IBS-D. The dramatic, rapid normalization of stool frequency and form after removing wheat, along with improved tolerance of legumes and plant foods, is a classic pattern seen in gluten-driven disease rather than functional IBS. IBS usually worsens with fiber and beans, not improves. The fact that you carry HLA-DQ2.2 means celiac disease is absolutely possible, even if it’s less common than DQ2.5, and many people with DQ2.2 present later and are under-diagnosed. Your hesitation to reintroduce gluten is completely understandable — quality of life matters — and many people in your position choose to remain strictly gluten-free and treat it as medically necessary even without formal biopsy confirmation. If and when you’re ready, a physician can help you weigh options like limited gluten challenge, serology history, or documentation as “probable celiac.” What’s clear is that this wasn’t just random IBS — you identified the trigger, and your body has been very consistent in its response.
