Dreaming About Eating Bread?

About once a week, I dream about eating a piece of bread, or a slice of pizza. In the last dream I had, I was eating gluten, and thinking to myself everything that I would need to do to feel better the next day. Then I started listing everything: camomile tea, ginger ale, noodle soup, immodium, etc.

Anyone else have dreams about eating gluten foods?

I haven't yet, but I won't be surprised if I do. (I've only been at this about a month.) When I was in high school and college, I was extremely restrictive with my food intake, to the point of being really unhealthy about it. I had so many dreams about about eating something like a bagel or crackers -- things I wouldn't let myself have -- and being horrified with myself. I'm trying really hard just to keep mentally upbeat about about my dietary restrictions now, and not focus on it too much, beyond what it takes to make sure I eat right. I think that for me at least, it was the obsessive thinking while I was awake that made me dream about eating the "wrong" things.

Yes I have had dreams about eating gluten-filled foods and then freak out :) Ah, the life of a Celiac.

I've had some dreams about eating gluten. In one of my dreams I took a bite out of a cookie and then I spat it out right away. I got really upset in my dream, since I thought that I was going to get really sick. When I woke up, I was really glad!

I don't recall dreaming about eating gluten. Then I read these posts 2 days ago. I had a dream last night where I ate 4 1/2 slices of bread. I say 4 and 1/2 because I woke up in the middle of the last slice. This is probably the strangest thing that has happened to me nine months into the diet. The only other thing that I did was lick an envelope (not in a dream) and then run to the sink and start spitting. Nothing happened except I felt kind of foolish.

I dream about eating bread too, similar to Carriefaith. I dream that I am going to get really sick then I get so mad at myself for eating it.

I dream that I forget, and am eating something gluteny, then remember part way through and get all upset.

I also had a dream a few months ago where I was being chased by gigantic monster baked goods, slavering fangs and all. That was weird.

I have these dreams once a week or more. Occasionally, I figure out that I am dreaming and just enjoy it.

The slavering monster in my dreams is is my mother-in-law. She is convinced that my problem is all in my head and that I was never sick (no, I did not advertise my symptoms to my friends of their families). I dream that she tells me something is gluten-free, then, after I eat it, she says "HA! That had wheat in it, and you don't look sick to me!" I then immediately either vomit on her or wake up. It's almost as weird as your dream :)

Well, there was that one about the giant spider made of cake... Non-gluten-free, of course. For some reason it looked like a spider Ursula. But I have WIERD dreams.

All the time. And I'm not the one with gluten issues. My daughter is. But we both have additional food allergies. I frequently dream about eating something I am allergic to or finding my daughter or myself just about to eat it. Sometimes I even wake myself up, screaming, "No! There's wheat in that!!!"

I've only been gluten free for a month now, but twice I've had nightmares about having accidentally glutened myself. In the first, I had put crackers in my soup, in the second, I ate a piece of cake at a party.

Just last week I did. Actually it was only about 2 years ago I started remembering having dreams but anyway. The only part of the dream I had that I remembered was taking 2 bites out of this roll, and the woman who I had dated six years prior said something and I woke up. I didn't sleep the rest of the night because it was like the ultimate freakin nightmare of years prior. Even the next day I was asking myself if I did and waiting for it to come.

There was only a few times I recall having those dreams, so I hope it and that feeling fade away, far far away.

I've been on a diet for over three years now and starting to forget about all the things I went through. I hope things work out for you. frank

I do that too!!!! I hate it, because you freak out in the dream that you're gonna feel so crappy. And to top it off, this past weekend we thought I might have taken a bite of something supiscious, so we're a bit nervous right now, although I don't feel glutened, so I guess it's ok. But for the past two nights my boyfriend has had horrible dreams of my getting glutened and dying on him.... And he has these fits in his sleep, it's awful.

I had a dream, right after I went gluten-free, that I ate a cookie. I was like, "just one can't hurt... ;) " and I ate it, and it was delicious. I didn't really feel bad after I woke up because it was a good cookie.

I used to wake up with my heart racing, sweaty palms because I was dreaming that I ate gluten and was terrified of becoming more ill.

They lasted for months, but they seem to have let up.

(I was diagnosed June 2007)

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
