Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?

Yes, Ron told me too that this was the formula used this whole time, this potentially wheat-containing ingrediant is not new.

But is it true that the parfrying process would get rid of the protein? cause thats what they think...

If they mean deep frying in the frier? No way! We all know that the friers cause CC!. :(

To the Canadians-

Just a thought. If the US fries always contained the wheat (or so it is sounding), could yours have always contained the wheat as well?

JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH THEM.....

THIS INGREDIENT WAS ALWAYS IN THE FRENCH FRIES BUT THEY NEVER DISCLOSED IT....NOW THEY HAVE TO DUE TO THE NEW LAWS...

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE GUY FROM MCDONALDS SAID....BECAUSE THEY ARE PARFRIED THE WHEAT AND DAIRY PROTEINS ARE DESTROYED!!!!!!

SO NOTHING IN THE FRIES CHANGED, THIS INGREDIENT HAS BEEN THERE THE WHOLE TIME!

That is awful! How can they do that? I wonder how many other companies are doing this :angry:

OMG! This is a HUGE case of negligence on the part of McDonalds USA.........

They deserve to get their asses sued to Infinity and Beyond!!!!!!

Ok... this is just me thinking out loud, so bare with me. But the new laws.. apply only to the U.S. right?

So, if the wheat was there the whole time, and they didn't *have* to list it... Couldn't that possibly be the case in Canada? Meaning, it's the same, but not listed so therefore it appears to them to be safe?

Karen, I'm not trying to put a damper on your day, but it's something I would consider.

I'm still feeling very sick from getting glutened from Sunday, I would hate for anyone to suffer just because they don't HAVE to tell us something. Now keep in mind, I type this knowing nothing of the current laws in Canada.. only out of concern for ALL fellow Celiacs

Maybe McD's peoples need to get on about CC cause this guy thought that the parfrying process kills the protein...UFF!

Frying at even a high temperature is not going to "kill" gluten. I think soneone there thought that it would and that's why they have always said their fries were gluten-free.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I get sick after eating them.

I discussed that with her also. She said she couldn't speak for the US McDonalds, but the Canadian version of the fries have been tested and proven gluten-free I still think this needs to be investigated further though...... It's pretty sad when we are getting to the point where we are doubting the answers even when we call the customer service reps of companies.....

OKAY CANADIANS, I HAVE POSTED THE MCDONALDS CANADA RESPONSE BUT I STILL AM NOT GOING TO EAT THE FRIES UNTIL THIS IS INVESTIGATED FURTHER......

Yes, please you all, call or email them and maybe we can figure out what's up. The guy I spoke with said 'processing' rid the ingrediant of wheat and dairy, but he did not specify what he meant. If you all can't get answers, I will try again myself.

Ok - I can see them not listing the wheat as an ingredient prior to 1/01/06 since they were not legally forced to do this. It may be immoral to deceive your customers at that time but it was not illegal. However, the true negligence here is MCd's listing their french fries on their gluten free lists when they indeed were not gluten-free the whole time.

I had given up eating their french fries awhile ago (after thinking for a good amount of time that it was always something else). So its not that I am sad as I haven't eaten them in awhile.

However, I am very mad that they listed them as gluten free. What a shameful thing to do.

They will NOT be getting my business at all anymore.

i just sent them an email stating how dissappointing it is that such a huge corporate company like them would do something like this....i hope everyone does the same and they get overwhelmed by emails....

:( I'm so sad to read this thread here and on my allergy board. Not that we eat there a lot b/c it just is disgusting to watch my dd eat their "beef patty" w/o a bun. But now to know that fries will be out too!

I also had troubles viewing the current site.

I will be shooting off a letter too!

I am trying to search back in my files to get David Hamilton's e-mail address (the guy from Wall Street Journal). I can't find it. Anyone still have it?

If McDonald's had any brains and put two and two together (based on all the calls they have had already), they would be doing damage control and telling the customer reps to not say anything one way or another until they can figure out how to cover this whole thing up (by untruth, just to cover their butts, probably.....) Which brings me to a very important point: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING THAT IS SAID TO YOU AND WHEN IT WAS SAID AND BY WHOM (NAMES....).......

It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers.       Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
