Sometimes after eating the cereal, I feel queasy. Someone on another thread mentioned carageenan often disagrees with people. Could that be causing my sinus trouble and more stomach upset? I ate the cereal dry and was fine. Everytime I eat cereal with soymilk lately, I get a scratchy throat for hours after. I also have been eating a lot of peanut butter lately. Could that have something to do with these problems? I am so scared I am dying or something. :(

Carageenan is a hidden source of msg and soymilk causes a lot of people a lot of problems. It could be either causing you distress

Yep, Casper Crap! :lol: That is what it is alright! It is more humorous now that I am not dealing with it! If possible, I would like to not have one of those tests again! The whole thing is not pleasant! Especially since there is the idea Drano probably would have to be swallowed to get it out of your pipes if it did not come out on its own! :o

The soymilk is kind of weird. I don't know. There are times where I seem to tolerate it, and times I do not. Then there is the fact that the soymilk I was using for a while was only soy and filtered water. Carageenan could be the culprit. It is difficult to say.

I figure I need to give chlorella a chance before I try anything with the anti-candida diet. I don't want to kill off candida and have mercury running around.

Does it matter if you take chlorella with or without food?

Rachel, you said it takes a couple weeks to get used to I think. I'll try and give it a couple weeks. I don't really like the nauseous feeling. If that doesn't work I'll try charcoal for something to take until I can get my teeth taken care of.

When your body detoxifies impurities you may experience a period of discomfort as these impurities are "flushed" from your system. Because chlorella is such a powerful detoxifier, I urge you to begin your chlorella regime gradually over the first few days and build up to my recommended dosage.

If you experience fatigue, lethargy, irritability, nausea or other uncomfortable conditions when starting with chlorella, try reducing the amount you are taking and build up even more slowly, as these may be symptoms associated with your body cleansing itself. However, if the symptoms are severe, or if they persist despite very low initial quantities of chlorella for the first few days, stop your chlorella regime and discuss with your personal medical practitioner.

Also please note that if you are a protein metabolic type these problems might be more severe and you should start much more slowly with one-half or even one-quarter capsule and increase the dose very carefully and slowly. Carb types seem to do much better with chlorella.

Caution: About 30% of people cannot tolerate chlorella. If at anytime one develops nausea or starts "burping up" the chlorella taste, then the chlorella should be stopped immediately as a food sensitivity is developing that will only worsen if you continue taking it.

I copied this over from mercola's site. I believe I am more of the protein type, but somewhat mixed. Talitha was burping the whole day we had this last so I won't be giving her anymore.

I'll try taking less than 1/8 tsp and see how I feel.

Happy Saturday to you too. I found my Himalayan salt at Whole Foods, so maybe Wild Oats or other health food store would have it.

The bottle I have says to take it before meals...doesn't say how long before, just before, so I take it right before I eat when I take it. I need to try it again one of these days.

I am scared, because the past couple days, I have been feeling weirder than normal. (That is sad when weird is normal! :lol: ) My heart palpitations have gotten worse, and I feel like I am going to passout all the time, and very weak and tired. It is scaring me! :unsure: Does Lyme do this? It started after a really bad migraine yesterday. Could my Thyroid being hyper make me feel this bad?

I am stiff, too. My jaw especially (the TMJ seems to have started some of this) is bothering me.

I feel this way often. Babs causes heart palpitations, shortness of breath, night sweats.

You might try the salt treatment. Both Rinne and I got a lot out of doing it. I got some energy back and got my basal temps up where they should be. I was taking 1/2 tsp. three times daily.

The salt/water ratio I recommended to Lisa is from "The Water Cure", which is about using water and the appropriate amount of salt, to return to health. It's more about getting hydrated, where the salt/c therapy is more about the parasites.

I got good results from the salt/c therapy. I use a lot of salt, but always of a good quality.

Ok...I know its not morning anymore but I slept in for once. :P

Just driving by cuz I got lots to do today. The movie was great....I loved it because it had me all jumpy and scared. :lol:

I didnt get home till 4 and I realized I'd been up 24 hours and not feeling totally whacked out!! Usually whenever I'd stay up that long my body would start to become very symptomatic. Last night it was only my eyes getting a little sensitive and having trouble seeing in the dark. Other than that I felt pretty good!! :o

I dont feel like I have a hangover today. :)

I've also had less sleep than normal all week....so I would have expected to not be able to handle staying up that late. :huh: Maybe the candida stuff is working. :D

I know I'm killing the stuff but I wont get into details about that...TMI....TMI...TMI.. :ph34r:

Oh....I ate my cookies all through the movie last night. They were a little drier than normal...my friend tried one and I didnt ask for another. :lol:

People expect cookies to be sweet...ummmm...sorry but not the case with my anti-candida cookies. :P

So yeah....I hope the candida are feeling the same way about the cookies that my friend did!! :D

I'm gonna try my castor oil pack tonight. B)

I used what I found out at BioSET to start my base diet, and basically what is safe are meats and veggies...or, in other words, the candida diet. I've been trying to add in one at a time the other things that I tested okay for and mostly those are going okay.

I did the same thing though it was a slightly different system to diagnose my intolerances. It has helped to stay away from anything processed, grains of all kinds, nightshades and dairy in addition to the gluten.

Another thing, I just remembered that at a certain point where I was so ill I was melting that I decided to treat my stomach like a "new baby" and would only feed it what I would feed a baby, i.e. gentle foods. I combined that with a diet for ulcers and stayed away from anything acidic, peels on anything, I quit eating green peas for that reason, no pepper.... and that seemed to help too.

Rinne- you said so much in this post earlier that was so right one point about being ill for along time and not remembering how to be well- it really hit home. I can't believe sometimes when i read what all of you post how crazy it is that we all can relate to eachother so much. I feel so lucky to have found all of you!!!

I was in bad shape. I had a bad reaction to some meds the GI doc put me on, and it went downhill from there. Then, we thought my body was shutting down, so I was taken up to IU Med for a full GI work-up. I weighed 87 pounds when I arrived, and 84 when I left. To give you an idea of how bright these geniuses in labcoats were, they could not figure out why I was losing weight since arriving! :blink: I had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, intercolisis, gastric emptying study and blood work. I had been on a liquid diet most of the time I was there! Can you say DUH?! :lol: If these idiots were supposed to be the best in the country, I would hate to see the worst!

As far as laxatives go, avoid anything with Psyllium Husk! I got terrible cramps and diarrhea from it! Sensitive stomachs do not tolerate that stuff! Other people I spoke to said they had the same trouble with that. I would go with good old Castor Oil. I think Alfalfa is gluten free. I was taking Alfalfa tablets for a while. They are gentle. It can take up to twelve hours to work, but it is better than getting bubble guts and stomach cramps.

The inside of my nostril itches all of the time and kind of burns. Plus, I have eczema. It is typical to have with yeast. Well...the baking of the oats has proved to really help with the mold situation. I'm eating my cookies just fine but this would not be the case if I werent baking the oats and just eating it as cereal.

I tried to buy organic oats but the only ones they had were Bobs Red Mill extra thick oats....the quick oats werent organic. My cookies didnt work out using the thick oats. They didnt stick together....maybe I needed more eggs and shortening?? :unsure:

Anyways....small pieces were clumped together and it actually looked more like crunchy granola....so I threw it in a bowl (Carla...I just typed bowel instead of bowl but caught myself :lol: )...poured a small amount of soymilk over it.

OMG...I had the best bowl of cereal I've had in a LONG time!! It was like GRANOLA!! :D

I tried toasting my sunflower seeds to see if it would help with mold on them but it didnt help enough that I could them right now....I still reacted a little....just not as bad.

I've read this more than once so I'll try this too.

The liver can be helped detoxifying the mold toxins by adding vitamin C to the diet, preferably whenever potentially moldy food is eaten. Better yet is to add the vitamin C to the product before it is cooked and eaten to detoxify beforehand, and not place the burden on the liver. Vitamin C helps neutralize toxins directly in food plus helps the liver after the food is eaten.

It wont work on nuts or seeds though....I read that the molds pentrate them so sprinkling vit c wont help.

Yes, quite icky indeed!!! I was taking a teaspoon twice a day and, well, yuck!! :lol: I finally started mixing it in my supplement cocktail in the morning and in my protein shake in the evening. I don't think that's the ideal way to take it, but, well, YUCK! :lol:

More reasons to not eat wheat!! :o

Any grain processed product is likely to contain molds, especially those with wheat or corn flour. Whole wheat is worse than processed since the outer hull is most likely to harbor mold. Even though stripping the outer layers removes most of the nutrients, especially magnesium and B vitamins, as Clark says, in a contest between nutrition and the immune system, the immune system comes first.

Yes, this means that white bread is typically healthier, or at least less detrimental to health, than whole wheat bread.

It is beneficial for most people to avoid most wheat products anyway (see "Eat Right For Your Type" and "The Zone Diet " in the Diet section) since they contain harmful lectins, which also adversely affect the immune system. Whole wheat contains more of these lectins than processed. Corn flour is usually cleaner than wheat, but can have problems, too.

A recent conversation with a guy who grew up on a farm which grew wheat provided further information on this topic. He said, yes, the wheat does get moldy when it is stored for so long, but that is not the main reason I don't eat whole wheat. It is because the farmer stands there as the grain is being transferred to the silo and throws in periodic handfuls of sevin dust (insecticide) as the wheat goes by, to limit insect damage when it is being stored.

This kind of explains why people would suddenly get affected by Lyme when exposed to mold in a home or elsewhere. This happens more often than not....the Lyme isnt causing illness until the mold (or some other toxin) comes into play.

It is the liver's job to detoxify these types of toxins in grains. Taking in too much at one time can cause serious liver damage. It usually does not have problems with small amounts unless the liver and gall bladder's functions are compromised by too many crystals, stones, or toxins. The molds also "gag" the immune system while it handles them, and while it is occupied, viruses and bacteria can get the upper hand. The surest way to catch a common cold is to eat moldy grain products when those around you are sick.

So yeah....I would imagine mold exposure could turn a less active infection into something much worse.

Well I had my weekly BioSET session today. I had Anna herself which was great because I took in all my labs from Dr. S. I was also able to get her to test some of the stuff he wants me to take and it all tested okay and at the same dosages that he wants me at.

She was dismayed at my elements results and so SHE gave me a bunch MORE stuff to take. Good golly molly...I'll be making a spreadsheet later today. :lol: I think at some point I'm going to show a list to her of what I'm taking already, lol. I DID make a list for Dr. S but I don't think he's studied it. :lol: It requires some reading time.

She was also dismayed at the mold issue. She asked (and she's the second one by the way--Dr. Carrie also asked) what he was giving me for it. I don't know. :unsure: I'm taking so much stuff...I'm not sure what's for what anymore. :P

Other than that, nothing much to report. She doesn't say a lot while we're going through the stuff. We did TONS of panels, but my glass was small today which was great...we did foods...all of what we did last week had to be repeated plus she had more new panels.

Meredith is telling her she will kick her butt if she doesn't go down the aisle... George didn't pass and whatshername didn't make chief resident but Callie did. Who the heck made big Chief? Did Christina go down the aisle, lol. What else happened? Who left? :P

That would defeat the purpose! :lol: The idea is to get saliva in your gut ... it helps digestion ... that's why people who aren't gluten intolerant often feel better if they eat crackers .... pretzels work just as well ... anything dry that gets saliva to the tummy.

      @catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

      Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

      Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

      highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

      Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.
