And it's so nice, we have this place not only where "everybody knows your name," but where "everybody knows your CRAP," literally!

:lol::lol::lol:

Glad Stinker is rallying yet again! Bless her heart :)

Soooo....yesterday a customer told my boss that she needs to take me outside and SMACK ME AROUND for awhile!!

and on my BIRTHDAY even!! :o

Well, pooh on her

just a quick goodmorning to all---still reading along.

i'm off to an IV and an impromptu drs visit...having some other issues...then off to my first visit with a PT.

on top of all this, I've had D for the past four days. I think its because I added alinia for three days. Delightful.

I still owe a catch up post, but tonight we are going out of town AGAIN. The next two weekends after we are home, and I am so excited. I need to rest!

I'll write more...eventually ;). Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. R-happy you got an app't with Dr. A.

Laura sweety, I'm sorry you're having a hard time this week--and with so much to do :(

Glad you're getting some downtime soon--try not to over do, and don't worry about writing here. We'll be here when you get the chance ;)

Hi all

ok quick update- am having a really rough time- I have stopped the diflucan and the hormones for right now- I think they were just completly overloading my system. I have an appointment wiht my doctor on monday and we will discuss the next steps. I made a big list of stuff I want to discuss with him and it seems to keep getting longer. I kind of cant wait to get in there.

Right now i am just trying to relax- basically living with my hot water bottle on my stomach and doing castor oil packs at night.

Laura-

I did a 3 day alinia- that stuff killed me- it made me constipated instead of D though- but I always go that way. I hope you are alright.

Rachel-

I am so glad you were able to get an appointment- nice birthday gift.

Andrea-

hope everythign with T is going better.

Susie-

happy to hear stinker is doing better.

Rinne-

I think we have the same food tastes I am all about the thin crust pizza- my favorite used to be from this brick oven place in Brooklyn- so good.

Has anyone heard of the body ecology diet- I forgot the womens name Dianne something?

I know I forgot alot of people and alot of things but I will post more later

miamia Rookie

oh Patti-

I could never forget you I hope you are feeling better!!!!!

and Donna- hope your gree toes are making you happy its so weird how little things like painting your nails can make you happy- I painted my toe nails watermelon color its my favorite- I think painting my toe nails is the one "girly " thing I do

Hi everyone! My brain just isnt' working right, so I don't have much to say. Strange for me.

Rachel, what was the customer's problem? That you don't eat very many things? I loved retail ... I find people to be amusing. I didn't like managing apartments though ... when it's their place of residence, EVERYTHING is serious!

Once after a particularly hard day, a man came in to tell me there was a problem with his stove. He had a pan on it and the bottom of the pan blew out! I told him I thought it was a problem with his pan, not the stove because the stove is supposed to get hot! I told him that if anything weird happenend again, then let me know ... it never did ... not with him anyway. That job caused a Lyme flare ... it was the one I'd go into and get sick.

I can't figure out why I'm not feeling as good as I was before. I had a few good hours yesterday, but went to bed yesterday afternoon for the rest of the day.

Rachel's post reminds me, I haven't felt good enough to sit out in the sun, I must do that today. We haven't had rain in so long the smog is bad. Normally we don't get this till August.

Charlie, judging by how the posts are done at Lymenet, I'd say a lot of us have trouble with large paragraphs!

Hi Miamia,

Probably a good idea to stop the meds for now--you don't want to get any worse. I hope that the doctor, on Monday, will have something else to offer.

It's been such a long road for you--I think about you often :)

dlp252 Apprentice

Carla - hope you feel better soon! We're having an epidemic here aren't we?!

I am glad you finally got to paint your toes! It always makes me feel better getting pretty! I love make-up! I am getting some new make-up tomorrow. I may go to the grocery as well! They have Lay's Stax on sale! Yay!

Yes, like Mia said...painting my toes is one of the girly things I do that always makes me feel good. I only paint them in the summer though...gotta give them a break to breathe in the winter months. I also LOVE make up...only wear it on Sundays and special ocassions, but I still love to buy it. :P

Glad you got your new cookware! Cleaning is a bit easier if you put water in it while it is still hot.

Good thing I've got some muscles on me cuz these pots and pans are like weights!! I could totally work out with my cookware!!

They are multi-functional.

Do some bicep curls whilst removing the pans from the stove. :P

I swear...if someones gonna get lost...wether its in a dream....real life...whatever....its always ME!!

What is up with that?

I'm thinking it wasn't YOU who was lost but WE who lost you...as in we just didn't know where you were...or I should say I didn't know where you were, but I suspect the PT guy did.

Sleep

Choose a regular pattern of sleep. Your body and brain repair themselves during sleep. Your body sleeps better (deeper and more restful) the hours before midnight. It is best to be in bed by 10:00 p.m. If you awaken early, do not get up if it is before 5:00 a.m. Try to fall asleep again. Even if you are awake, stay in bed until after 5:00. This will help you develop a natural rhythm and pattern that your body will begin to follow. Be consistent. You should get between 8 and 9 hours of sleep every night. Also, maintain your sleep schedule even on weekends and vacations.

This was a great list!!! I do much of it already. This sleep thing is interesting. I've tried to stay to a regular sleep pattern as much as possible for the last 10 years or so (wish THAT had helped me more, lol), but these specific times are very interesting. I always go to bed at 9:00, even on weekends, cuz I have to get up so darned early during the work week...and I used to get up when I woke up, but lately I've been staying in bed until after 5:00...mostly because I just CAN'T get up, but now I'm glad I'm not forcing myself. :P

and as you've been doing, you can see improvement in symptoms without necessarily directly treating an underlying condition... this is what I was doing for the past 15 months until I finally got a diagnosis of lyme disease through a positive blood test with Igenex last month... I saw improvement in a number of areas through dieting, taking supplements, a mostly regular sleep schedule, and exercise and physical activity the past few months as I was again able to do so... so continuing along the same lines of what you're doing now might be your best option while saving up money to do some further testing...

Great ideas! I've just been doing what I can to take stressors off my body...getting enough rest (as much as I can with my horrible insomnia), eating foods that agree with my body as much as possible, etc., continuing to exercise, etc. Those are all things which really don't cost money but help.

and I am watching, whilst puttering around in the studio-slash-office, the Spelling Bee, how lame is that?????

Whic would be why you know words like Scatological!

Go Stinker, Go Stinker, Go Stinker!

Soooo....yesterday a customer told my boss that she needs to take me outside and SMACK ME AROUND for awhile!!

Hum, I have no official enactment duties in Rachelville, but I say we should have retail therapy...only instead of shopping, perhaps we can take the customer outside and smack them around. :P

I totally agree that further food intolerance testing isnt useful...it wasnt helpful for me at all. It doesnt get to the root of the problem and since with leaky gut intolerances are constantly manifesting and changing...testing isnt really beneficial...that was my experience anyway.

It was helpful for me, but only because I don't have immediate reactions to stuff--my reactions are almost always delayed and sometimes by a day or two. :P Knowing which foods were contributing allowed me to take more burden off my body by avoiding them completely. If I got immediate reactions I would have just tried my best to avoid the stuff that caused it and wouldn't have needed the testing.

oh, I posted a picture of my silly Annie, she does the CUUUUUUUTEST face when I use this certain voice, it happens when she has gotten into the recycling, and I find, say, an ice cream carton torn into hundreds of bits, or when she has taken her little raccoon hands and gotten up and gotten a bag of chips or something and rachelled the whole thing......so all I have to do is say, in a very low and menacing and slow voice - "DID YOU DO THIS????? and she slithers to the ground, curls her lips and shows her teeth - - I let her stay scared for about 10 seconds, and then say "I STILL LOVE YOU" and she immediately melts and we kiss and make up.....but the funniest thing is, if she's done something naughty, she assumes this position the minute I walk in the door - - before I've even discovered it, thereby giving herself away - - - it is the most adorable thing I've ever seen..... :)

Hi all

ok quick update- am having a really rough time- I have stopped the diflucan and the hormones for right now- I think they were just completly overloading my system.

Glad you are giving your body a break. Hopefully your doctor will be able to help with your questions.

T is still being very moody. Don't know if it was seeing Grandma this last weekend or the cinnamon crunch cereal or something else. She's usually worse after seeing Grandma but not this bad.

Hi everyone! My brain just isnt' working right, so I don't have much to say. Strange for me.

I would suspect the amoxy and how it was making you feel coupled with the herx you are starting. Hope you bounce back quickly.

I've been very, very bad about this this last year. I'm up til 12 or 1 most nights and your supposed to get the best benefits from sleep before then. I listen to messages at night if Mitch gets off the computer in time. Can't do that during the noise of the day. I probably need to try and get myself used to going to bed early and waking up early. Seems like when I tried that before Talitha would get up if she saw a light on out here. Seth is still in my room and he goes through some rough mornings at times. If I'm still in bed I can just tell him to go back to sleep. I'll have to think on this though.....it may be worth another trial run. Of course that would also mean I can't wait up for Mitch when he's late.

We'll send in Susan and the Dingos! They have the stare down.

Yep. :D Love that place! We also shop at Wild Oats and Fred Meyer, oh and Country Village in Longview.

I don't know Wild Oats. Do they have a good selection of stuff? Where are they at? Shop at Freddy's from time to time. Love Country Village, but they need more selection of things.

Wild Oats has a decent selection. Nothing like Lingonberries since Lingonberries specializes in gluten-free stuff. Wild Oats is off exit 28 (Mill Plain Blvd), left at ramp light and down 2-3 miles. I think it's off 160th.

Thank you for clearing up the funky screen issue! I thought the forum changed its format. It was harder to keep up with everyone the way it was. It was either the outline format, or the linear one. Whatever it was, I did not like it! I did what you told me, and now it is back to normal!

Glad everythings back to normal. It happened to me once and it was not fun trying to read the threads that way.

I'll write more...eventually ;). Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. R-happy you got an app't with Dr. A.

Thanks Laura. Glad you got the next 2 weekends for yourself and some much needed rest....you've been on the go go go...its gonna really feel good to just relax after this. :)

Well, pooh on her

Yeah...but get this....the customer that wanted me smacked around was a GUY!

He even did a demonstration of how my boss should go about this "beating".

What a LOSER.

Right now i am just trying to relax- basically living with my hot water bottle on my stomach and doing castor oil packs at night.

Mia....I hope you're appt. goes well. I'll be thinking of you. :)

I know things have been really rough for you lately...I agree that the estrogen and diflucin were probably too much for your system. I think you may need to do things in baby steps....like me you are probably pretty toxic right now. Diflucin is so hard on the liver....it cant be good for someone who's already toxic.

I'm glad you stopped and can give your body a rest now.

Rachel, what was the customer's problem? That you don't eat very many things?

:lol::lol:

Noooo...it didnt have anything to do with my lack of food choices....not this time anyway.

It was because it got busy up front so I went up there to open a checkstand. I pulled a bunch of people over and was starting to ring up someones groceries. This rude guy blasted over to me demanding to know where some type of wine was. He was loud and said he was in a hurry and had no time to look through all the wines...he wanted me to direct him to the location of the wine.

I know NOTHING about wine....he could probably find it faster than I could. Regardless...I was BUSY with a long line of customers and he was demanding and rude.

I told him there wasnt much I could do from where I was...I couldnt leave my checkstand...I was helping other people, etc. I could call someone to meet him on the aisle but not sure if anyone was available at that moment...all I could do from where I stood was call someone for assistance.

He said "THEN DO IT!!" "I'M IN A HURRY!!"

I called my boss...she said she knew nothing about wine. "I told her she better go help him cuz he's freaking out on me.

A few minutes later I see him getting all irritated and about throw another fit in the front lobby cuz he didnt want to wait in line....my boss rang him up.

So yeah...I guess he had told her she needed to smack me around. She told him "Ummm....how bout I DONT smack her around...but just talk to her instead."

I really cant stand customers who come into the store and get all demanding like that because they are running late. I would NEVER go into a store acting that way....nobody is sympathetic to people who act that way.

I've had customers come in all freaking out because they are in a hurry and have this WHOLE list of groceries to buy...and are wanting ME to go around doing ALL their shopping for them because they are in too much of a hurry to look for the items they need.

I think its rude. I'm not a "personal shopper" for people who are capable of doing it themselves. Elderly or disabled people...I have no problem assisting them...rude people who are running late...ummm...PUHLEEEEEZ.

People have no manners...I can be very obviously busy with a customer and have another customer step in and totally interupt...asking for my help with something.....not even saying "excuse me" or anything. Those people are alot less likely to get my help.

I know in retail "the customer is always right"....but I will NEVER let a customer get away with being disrespectful to me...or to assume that they can take their anger issues out on me because I'm wearing a store uniform. I DONT THINK SO!

So yeah...sometimes customers get upset with me when I dont cater to their rudeness.

Yeah...I stayed home from work today!!

I'm better now and might go in to get my work done but this morning my head hurt really bad, eyes blurry, dizzy, sore, etc.

I know why though...it was because I ate 3/4 of a bag of my moldy sunflower seeds last night.

I had only planned on eating like 2 or 3....but yeah I cant "Carla" anything.....I racheled it. I think instead of eating only 2 seeds...I ate all but 2.

but the funniest thing is, if she's done something naughty, she assumes this position the minute I walk in the door - - before I've even discovered it, thereby giving herself away - - - it is the most adorable thing I've ever seen..... :)

The dogs name was Lady....she was a golden retriever. :)

Hi everyone again

So yeah on the skunky diarrhea, no I didn't eat any doritos I just smelled and tasted it in my brothers room not tasted it literrally but if someone is eating something salty like chips or crakers I can taste the salt. It had to be the doritos in his room. How sensitive can you be? I don't have celiac disease unless leaky gut and mercury can also mimic that! Is this for real? So I went back to my gi doctor big mistake. He says I need to eat more I am anorexic. Yeah when It hurts to eat anything! He says if I keep losing weight he will lock me up against my will and put a tube in my stomach. I showed him my mercury results test and He said it has nothing to do with what is going on with me that mercury is neurologic. He wants me to do a mercury plasma blood test. NO MORE BLOOD TEST! 10 blood test in one year, last one I fainted because I am so weak. On tuesday I am having a digestion test done. They give you some radioactive solution to drink with food or something to check how your digestion is working. Should this be safe with mercury and candida? He also wants to do an endoscopy to check for celiac? Is this safe with mercury? I haven't even had wheat or gluten for 8 or 9 months. He says I might have a lazy stomach. It empties slow or something because I get bloated on one side of my upper left abdomen after I eat. dont know.

Take care

UNBELIEVABLE!!!! The nerve of some people. I'm in disbelief over here. I knew people were rude, but......

Yeah...I think it might be a "Bay Area" thing....everyones always in a rush here. <_<

I didnt realize it until I first moved to Manteca in 1999. OMG....everyone was so pleasant and everyone seemed to move at a slow pace. It was like a whole different world.

There was farming all over....some intersections didnt have any lights...it was QUIET and PEACEFUL....I could hear the cows mooooing every once in awhile.

Its not like that anymore though....in 8 years alot of that farmland has houses now...the intersections and roads have been expanded and have lights...overpasses now go over the traintracks...I rarely hear the cows anymore and people are getting just as rude and impatient as they are here in the Bay.

Its all about lifestyle. If you live somewhere where its calm and quiet.....spend a day in a retail store over here...you would not BELIEVE it. You would gladly go home at the end of the day. :P

Hi, @thejayland10, Do you still consume dairy?  Dairy can cause increased tTg IgA levels in some people with celiac disease who react to casein, the protein in dairy, just like to gluten.   You might try cutting out the processed gluten free foods.  Try a whole foods, no carbohydrate Paleo diet instead, like the AIP diet (the Autoimmune Protocol Diet by Dr. Sarah Ballantyne, a Celiac herself). Processed gluten free foods can be full of excess carbohydrates which can alter your microbiome leading to Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO).  SIBO is found in some people who are not responding to a gluten free diet.  SIBO can elevate tTg IgA levels.  The AIP diet cuts out sources of carbohydrates like rice, potatoes (nightshades), quinoa, peas, lentils, legumes, which starves out the SIBO bacteria.  Better bacteria can then proliferate.   I followed the AIP diet to get rid of my SIBO.  It's a strict diet, but my digestive tract had time to rest and heal.  I started feeling better within a few days.  Feeling improvement so soon made sticking to the AIP diet much easier. First, welcome to the forum, @boy-wonder! Second, a little clarification in terminology is in order. Granted, inconsistency is rampant when it comes to the terminology associated with gluten disorders, but it has more or less become settled in this fashion: "Gluten intolerance" is a general term that car refer to either celiac disease or NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). "Gluten Sensitivity" is the shortened version of NCGS. Third, Celiac disease is not an allergy to gluten. It is an autoimmune disorder characterized by gluten ingestion causing the immunes system to attack the lining of the small bowel, causing damage to it over time due to the constant inflammation that wears down the "villi" (mucosal finger-like projections that make up the lining). Over a significant period of time as gluten continues to be consumed, this generally results in impaired nutrient absorption. There are specific blood antibody tests available to check for celiac disease but the testing will not be valid while on a reduced gluten diet or a gluten free diet. Those already having having begun a gluten free diet must go back to consuming generous amounts of gluten for a period of weeks if they wish to pursue testing for celiac disease. Fourth, NCGS shares many of the same symptoms of celiac disease but does not damage the lining of the small bowel as does celiac disease. There is no test for it. A diagnosis for NCGS depends on first ruling out celiac disease. It is 10x more common than celiac disease. Some experts feel it can be a precursor to the development of celiac disease. Eliminating gluten from your life is the antidote for both. Fifth, you state that you are convince you don't have celiac disease by are just "gluten intolerant" (aka, gluten sensitive). How do you know that? It seems to me you are making a dangerous assumption here. I suggest you consider getting formally tested for celiac disease.

Has anyone found a gluten free parakeet seed mix? I can't find a single one! My doctor wants me to make sure all pet food in the house is gluten free but I'm not sure if that's even possible with parakeets. We love our birds so much! I'm wondering if anyone has ever made their own bird seed mix if gluten free ones are not available.

Hi, new member. About me, I had been suffering with weight gain, bloating and irregular and extreme bowel habits for a year or so. For example, I went on holiday in 2023, then again I  2024 at the same time of year and every shirt I wore in 2023 didn't fit anymore, couldn't even do the buttons up. Being in my mid 50s I put it down to age and middle aged spread. I'd been lucky all my life having good metabolism and being able to eat anything and as much as I like without putting on any weight, it drove my other half mad. Over a conversation with a friend health and age Related stuff came up and he mentioned someone he knew who had recently found out they were gluten intolerant,  I looked it up and had every one of 8 or so symptoms listed. Bloating,  weight gain,  headaches, brain fog,  constipation, etc etc. I took the decision to give going gluten free a try. Within 1 week I had lost 4 lb, now 7 weeks in I've lost 13 lb. I feel much better in general,  the bloating has severely subsided, it used to keep me awake at night as I felt so uncomfortable.  So pretty much a success story, as everyone here knows,  going gluten free isn't always easy, and eating out can be awkward,  but I consider myself lucky that I appear to have an intolerance rather than an allergy or being celiac.  I can deal with most of the gluten free options at the supermarket but, the big one for me is bread, I love bread, and the gluten free options I've tried are pretty poor. I was at a posh black tie event last night and chose all the food options I thought would be gluten free,  however,  there was bread on the table and I couldn't resist it, I had I small piece of bread,  god it was good, I wanted more but I resisted. Today I feel a bit dodgy, my stomach is churning, and I generally feel a bit urgh.  So here's the question, is that really down to 1 small piece of bread or is it coincidence?  I'd be interested in hearing how other people have reacted to a similar situation,  as I was considering having a day off every now and then and enjoying some lovely fresh bread.

Does anybody know of a guide that ranks reevaluates universities and colleges in terms of their accommodation of celiac disease or food allergies?   Thanks in advance for any leads! Valerie
