I don't think it will affect much... except you maybe being more relaxed....but I'd just mention it in passing to the Dr. if you're concerned... don't make a big deal its not great on your records...

Exactly. Just be sure the person giving you the anesthesia knows. Just make it a passing comment, like, "If I smoked something illegal, would it affect this?" That way you're not telling them you did, and you can find out if it matters.

ooooooohhhhhhhhh that kinda smokin....I don't think that would effect the drugs they will administer to you for your procedure. But I'm not a doctor, maybe you should ask just in case...I mean there going where no man has gone before so whats the humility behind a little bud? My guess is that it wouldn't interfere. Good Luck tommorrow..... ~b r e a t h e~

Again, DO EXACTLY WHAT YOUR DOCTOR TOLD YOU TO DO!!! You have to take two because you're not trying to go after being constipated, you're making your colon squeaky clean and photo-ready.

Lister Rising Star

thx

should i just do 1.5 since they are 70percent bigger or should i just do both to get extra clean?

Lister Rising Star

so i went out and got the ex-lax all i could find was extra strengh unless i wanted chocolate form. so i got the extra strengh. should i just do half a dose or still a full dose? also im confused they said to take the laxative before bed, but on the box it says it takes 8-12 hours for the laxitive to start working.... im going to be on the table getting the scope when the laxative will start to work so whats the point??

mmmm jellloooo soo gooood mmmm blue

I took a liking to the green jello myself. That liquid diet sucks, when I was on it I didn't know I had celiac and I was drinking cans of broth, ugh god liquid poison!

Lister Rising Star

im not going to bed until probably midnight when should i take the laxative?? its 9 right now

Guest ~jules~

I'm sorry but I don't remember. I was sent home with specific instructions, didn't the doctor give you a list of things to do?

Lister Rising Star

yeah but the list is general. it says take the laxative before bed, take enema 1 hour before apointment. so my apointment is at 7:30 so i have enema at 6:30 but im not going to bed until probably midnight... should i take the laxative now? or at midnight? and should i do a full dosage or half since i could only find extra strength?

Guest ~jules~

I would take it now if it takes 8 hours or so to kick in. As far as the dosage I would do exactly what the box says extra strength or not, the ending result of a laxative is the same whatever way you look at it, to clean you out. For what your going in for I'd say the more "cleaning" the better.

took both woohoo time to start the fun :)

Hey Lister,

Just read through the last 18 pages! I hope that your proceedure goes well. We're all rooting for you! I know I psyched myself up before mine, but it wasn't so bad. I don't remmber any pain afterward, just being a bit groggy for the rest of the day, and a tiny bit tummy sick. You'll be fine though, I'm sure.

As a former oregonian, I was curious to know where you're at. I grew up in NW Portland/Beaverton. It's a nice area. And as it has been said before, there are lots of places you can get help (financial, food, etc). You just gotta go look and not be afraid. All it will do is help you :)

Anyway, I have experienced a lot of the fears and anxiety you have expressed. If you ever feel like you need to talk to someone, feel free to pm me. I was diagnosed with depression about 10 years ago, and I know what its like to work yourself up into a panic over things. The night before I got my wisdom teeth pulled I just about tore my house apart and scared the hell out of my husband. I know everyone here has said it, but it really is so much controlled in your head. You can have an illness, and live with it, deal with pain, and keep anxiety under control. Just remember that you have the power, and being sick, or scared, or whatever...shouldn't keep you from living your life, and making the most out of it.

Well, I'm off to bed, hope you are resting well. You're in my prayers. Good luck!!

Lister Rising Star

i will respond to your post later fudge, dont have much time right now, but corvallis oregon.

ugh the ex-lax sucks i woke up feeling so bloated my side hurts so bad but i still cant crap :( like i got some out but i still have to force it just the stools themselvs are softer... o well time for the other part ugh water up the butt yeah yeah wooohooooo........ 1 hour left until the procedure

man i took the enema ummm i crapped abunch afterwards nice big green pile of crap it was really grose and unhealthy looking, but problem... the enemas when squeezed ithought were empty now looking at them it looks like i only used half per bottle, do i need to do again or did i problly get clean enough? sorrh im shaking while typing mix bettweeen crapping to much lack of sleep no food and very cold

I am sure everything will go well. I know you will keep us posted. Don't be surprized if they can't tell you much right away as sometimes they have to take some time to look at any biopsies they may want to do. I should note when I say biopsies I am not talking about cancer here but things like microscopic colitis. Good luck, it will be over soon.

Guest ~jules~

Good luck today lister, you'll do fine.... :)

Lister Rising Star

well im back and that really sucked...

first the nurses where confused about what procedure they where doing so i guess they had me over prep, and then they could not get a vain to show up in my arm so while they where trying to get the iv in the doc came in and said it was not nessasary.. so i had it done with no pain killers or sedatives.... very uncomfterbal. So now im home.. they did not find anything, he took some biopsies but he does not think anything will show... and my lower abdomen like right behind the crotch is in throbbing gas pain, like i can hear and feel the gas but i cant get it to come out, i tried to use the restroom and all that came out was a snot like substance coverd in blood.... man what now

___

he took 6 biopsies and alot of pictures, but the nurse did not have the eq hooked up proporly so they lost all the pictures.... man im in alot of pain right now i thought this was not supposed to hurt afterwards.....

CarlaB Enthusiast

I can't remember, Lister, and I'm not going through this whole thread  Are you doing better on the gluten-free diet? If so, you may be like some of us here who have a gluten intolerance, but not celiac disease. My gluten intolerance was rather serious, and I have an autoimmune reaction to gluten, but I technically do not have celiac disease.

Mine didn't hurt afterward. Did you have both a colonoscopy and and endoscopy?

Lister Rising Star

neither i had a stigmoidoscopy just a small scope only took like 5 minutes but im in pain now

there is moderate improvments since going gluten free but not enough to define it to gluten intolerancy since im still loosing about 10 pounds a month constant C and instinal pain

CarlaB Enthusiast

Are you dairy free, too? I know casein for me is as bad as gluten.

Lister Rising Star

yep dairy free is the way to be :)

______

man it feels like someone isscraping aknife down my side gah man wtf

___

talked to the doc he says its normal to be in pain for up to 8 hours because i did not have sedatives i can feel the air they put in trying to escape, and that the bleeding is normal since he took a abnromal amount of biopsis

Guest ~jules~

Wow, I'm sorry. It sounds like no one knew what they were doing, how scary. They didn't give you anything to relax you at least? Thats really odd. Hopefully your biopsies will help. Rest up and feel better, Julie

Lister Rising Star

oh i forgot to add in that the nurse doing the iv first try went thru the vain and ended upmaking my arm all cold and hot flashy it was fun.. but o well i got bad luck sometimes.

other then the gas pains from the procedure now im feeling pretty good like alot more (normal) then i normaly do. i think one of the problems with me may have been something lodged in me and the enemas got it out i could be wrong though but i dont know i feel way diffirent

CarlaB Enthusiast

The enema could have helped. Keep that in mind next time you're clogged up!! It could also be that your stress is lower .... you've been worried about this test for a while!

I'm sure it's chemically perfect. Most of them taste lousy!

Hi @JulieRe.  I just found your post.  It seems that I am also experiencing thrush, and my doctor believes that I have fungal overgrowth in my gut, which is most likely candida.  I'm seeing my GI doctor next week, so I'm hoping she can diagnose and confirm this and then give me an antifungal treatment.  In the meantime, I have been working with a functional medicine doctor, doing a candida cleanse and taking vitamins. It's already helping to make me feel better (with some ups and downs, of course), so I do think the yeast is definitely a problem for me on top of my celiac disease and I'm hoping my GI doctor can look into this a bit further.  So, how about you?  Did the candida come back, or is it still gone following your fluconazole treatment?  Also, was it awful to take fluconazole?  I understand that taking an antifungal can cause a reaction that sometimes makes people feel sick while they're taking it.  I hope you're doing better still !

I'm so sorry you're going through this—the "gluten challenge" is notoriously brutal, and it's awful to deliberately make yourself sick when you've already found the answer. For the joint pain, many people find that over-the-counter anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen can help take the edge off, and using heating pads or warm baths can provide some direct relief for the aches. For the digestive misery, stick to simple, easy-to-digest foods (like plain rice, bananas, and bone broth) and drink plenty of water and electrolytes to stay hydrated. It feels like the longest month ever, but you are doing the right thing to get a clear diagnosis, which can be crucial for your long-term health and getting the proper care. Hang in there; you can get through this! This article, and the comments below it, may be helpful:

Daura Damm (a sponsor here) uses AN-PEP enzymes and filtering in their brewing process to reduce/remove gluten, and it actually tests below 10ppm (I've see a document where they claim 5ppm).

This topic has come up before on this forum and has been researched. No GMO wheat, barley and rye are commercially available in the USA. Any modifications are from hybridization, not laboratory genetic modification. Better toleration of wheat, barley and rye products in other countries is thought to be due to use of heirloom varieties of these cereal grains as opposed to the hybrids used in the USA which contain much larger amounts of gluten.
