Tell him you just gave birth to the alien baby, then you can take off six weeks!!

:lol::lol:

Yeah....I will need at least 6 weeks after carrying the alien baby around for 4 years!!

Hi Samking

I see you already got a job and everything....things move pretty quickly here in R-ville! :)

I just wanted to stop by Rachelville for a visit...and say HI. =)

I admit, I had no idea what Rachelville was, until I pm'd JerseyAngel. I didn't want to seem like a dork.

So... HI! =)

Hi Jayhawkmom! :D No worries...we've all had our "dorky" moments here in R-ville...especially me.

You must get the recipe and bring it back to your friends in Rachelville, it's your job, your duty

Yes Mango....our queen has spoken! She wants muffins...the yummy gluten-free, cf ones you were bragging about last night....you know, the ones made out of almond meal....we want some!

Nope! I don't really like purple. And I didn't like pink very much until a few years ago....and I'm "old"!!

YAY!! So glad I'm not the only one. :D

I did go through a very brief "purple" phase back in the 8th grade. Dont know what came over me.

I think I was influenced by Prince.

Rachel,

Why do I think his bark is worse then his bite? Afterall he didn't say anything about the orange jug.

Oh...he brought up the orange jug thing too. I went back into the pages of the OMG thread last night.....never a good thing going back. I was lost in the thread for awhile but eventually found some stuff. OMG....I should not be held accountable for things I said while under the influence of sweet potatoes and yams!

Penguin....cute poem! :)

I'm not much of a city girl. I'm more of a living out in the country girl. Possibly I'll just come to town for gluten free food occasionally. Maybe I'll live on my own island out in your ocean? I dunno.

-Jessica

Ok...then. Jessica will be the "wanderer"....the free-spirited girl who comes and goes as she pleases. :D

Samking,

Sorry to hear about Luke. :(

Well with the exception of dairy cows and the 5000 acre horse ranch...........my parents house! ha :P

I'll live on my island, motor boat in for gluten free goodies and conversation. Meanwhile you can visit my lovely island whenever :)

Do you really want all of those free range chickens pooping all over the pristine scenery? :o

Our chickens will have to be trained like our geese.

Your parents place sounds wonderful. I love the country....just don't live in it. My hubby drives all day and we don't see him much some days as is so we live close to work.

You can live on the island.....Celia might want to join you....she loves the ocean.

Andrea...will you give the girl a job already!!:lol:

EDIT: oooops premature post. I see she already has a job.

Luke was a throughbred, bay, no markings. Man, he was a sight! Tennesse's are a good ride... after some training that is!! I had this one pony, Beau, that I worked with. He WAS out to get me. He loved everyone but me. I'm not kidding. Anyway, one morning after a show I was in a rush to unwrap him so I just went into his stall and just as I was bending down to take the wrap off his front leg... BOOM!!! He headbutted me and knocked me on my a$$! A quick trip to the hospital and a mild concusion later, I politely told his owner that I wouldn't work with him anymore. What a little brat he was!

Ummm barista...just got back from Starbucks! Oh wait, shhhh, I'm supposed to be eating clean this week.

LMAO!!

Noooo....we do not! :o Judy will not want chickens pooping in her flowerbeds....I'm pretty sure of it.

We will have to find some that are trained. They will only poop in one designated area. :D

Maybe they will need to poop in the vegetable garden ... cows, too, without stepping on the veggies, of course! I'm not much of a gardener, but doesn't it need fertilizer?

We can get our coffee grounds at our local Starbucks, which will serve lattes made with Dari-Free!!

We should set up a Rachelville reunion! All of us could get together somewhere and make this wonderful place a reality. At least for a weekend!

Ok...then. Jessica will be the "wanderer"....the free-spirited girl who comes and goes as she pleases. :D

Oh well I'm the type of girl who will never settle down,

Where handsome guys are well you know that I'm around

I kiss 'em and I love 'em cause to me they're all the same

I hug 'em and I squeeze 'em they don't even know my name

They call me the wanderer , yeah I'm a wanderer,

I go around around around around

Well there's Moe on my left and Harry on my right,

And Jake is the guy well that I'll be with tonight,

And when he ask me which one I love the best,

I tear open my shirt and I show Rick on my chest, (ya ok maybe not so much here)

'Cause I'm a wanderer, yeah I'm a wanderer

I roam around around around around hmmm

Well I roam from town to town, I go through life without a care,

And I'm as happy as a clown,

With my two fists of iron, but I'm goin' nowhere.

Yeah I'm the type of girl that likes to roam around

I'm never in one place I roam from town to town

And when I find myself fallin' for some guy

I hop right in that car of mine, I drive around the world

And I'm a wanderer, yeah I'm a wanderer

I roam around around around around hmmm

:lol: OK I had to change the lyrics but that is what your post made me think of Rachel. That song immediately poped into my head!

Parents place is beautiful. My dad is a farmer and Rancher. Lots of open space. Ponds to fish in. Love to go visit because dad always says "need any veggies or meat". YEP!! Load me up please!! Farm raised beef is the best. It tastes nothing like store bought meat. YUCK!

Hmmm....I'm thinking the cows doing their business on or around our nice fresh rachelville grown veggies is not a good thing. <_<

I hereby object to cows pooping in the vegetable garden! I OBJECT!! (In case you didnt hear me) :D

I'm sorry that happened. :( Horse trainers take lots of beatings. Do you think that could be part of the reason arthritis has settled in some of your joints?

I knew an arab who's name fit him to a tee. He was a mean, ornery horse to everyone and everything, including the mares. His name was el paso diablo (the devils song is the translation I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong). He died in a barn fire that took the lives of all the horses (30-40 of them). That was very sad. The community had a benefit show to raise money for the farm to rebuild. I had almost moved my horse back there a couple months before that too.

If you have any pictures of Luke I wouldn't mind seeing one if you put it on your avatar for a few days. Love the kitty picture too. Cats are my favorite house pet but I love dogs too.

Kris: Travel agent; Barista

Jessica: Our island resident and wanderer

If anyone needs (or wants) the full list let me know. I try not to post it much since it takes up sooooo much space.

That's my little piggy inmy avatar. He's 1 year and 4 months and weighs 21 pounds!! I have him on diet food but he eats his brothers food when we're not home  I tell my little brother that he is singing in that picture. He's 3 so he just says "NO! cats don't sing!!?" It's adorable!

:lol::lol:

Ok...just wanna warn everyone....you dont ever want me to sing for you....not even Happy Birthday. Rachelville will quickly become a ghost town....nothing left but the tumbleweeds.

I'd love that! I'm looking at ordering 100% grass fed beef from online. They deliver fed ex overnight. US Wellness Meats Online sells 100% grass fed beef for those interested....since Jessica already has her own.

Then maybe after their poop is composted, we need a poop hauler to take it over and fertilize the garden, the poop won't be smelly at that point. Might be an appropriate job for the town idiot!

The cows will be out on the range and won't bother us in town. They'll come in for milking (at least the milk cows) and shelter but they'll be on the outskirts of town.

Thanks for typing that up Chelsea.

I'll have to copy all these poems over to read to the kids.

Maybe I'll have to look at getting some Shel Silverstein books.

Make sure to check which books you get, not all of them are for kids

Sure cats sing....just not much by themselves. Usually takes another cat to bring their musical talents to the forfront. :P

How about travel agent and barista?

 What a combo there, huh??

LOL We have the movie Grease, and of all the songs in that movie, my little girls started singing, "Look at me I'm Sandra Dee, lousy with viginity, won't go to bed till I'm legally wed ..." I asked them nicely to start singing something else, anything but that song ... if they didn't, no more Grease. I haven't heard it from them since.

Morgan, I love that picture, why don't you get it printed up and frame it for me for Christmas!! (If it can be, since it was taken on a cell phone, might not be big enough).

I've been buying my seeds and nuts from Prana Organics for a number of years because the products have been GFCO-certified. I just got a new order delivered of their flax and sunflower seeds, and it turns out that they are no longer GFCO-certified. Instead, it just has a generic "Gluten Free" symbol on the package. I reached out to them to ask what protocols/standards/testing they have in place. The person that wrote back said that they are now certifying their gluten free status in-house, but that she couldn't answer my questions related to standards because the person with that info was on vacation. Not very impressed, especially since it still says on their website that they are GFCO-certified. Buyer beware!

Hi @Dizzyma I note what @trents has commented about you possibly posting from the UK.  Just to let you know that am a coeliac based in the UK, so if that is the case, do let me know if can help you with any questions on the NHS provision for coeliacs.    If you are indeed based in the UK, and coeliac disease is confirmed, I would thoroughly recommend you join Coeliac UK, as they provide a printed food and drink guide and also a phone app which you can take shopping with you so you can find out if a product is gluten free or not. But one thing I would like to say to you, no matter where you live, is you mention that your daughter is anxious.  I was always a bit of a nervous, anxious child but before my diagnosis in mid-life my anxiety levels were through the roof.   My anxiety got steadily better when I followed the gluten-free diet and vitamin and mineral deficiencies were addressed.  Anxiety is very common at diagnosis, you may well find that her anxiety will improve once your daughter follows a strict gluten-free diet. Welcome to the celic.com community @Dizzyma! I'm assuming you are in the U.K. since you speak of your daughter's celiac disease blood tests as "her bloods".  Has her physician officially diagnosed her has having celiac disease on the results of her blood tests alone? Normally, if the ttg-iga blood test results are positive, a follow-up endoscopy with biopsy of the small bowel lining to check for damage would be ordered to confirm the results of "the bloods". However if the ttg-iga test score is 10x normal or greater, some physicians, particularly in the U.K., will dispense with the endoscopy/biopsy. If there is to be an endoscopy/biopsy, your daughter should not yet begin the gluten free diet as doing so would allow healing of the small bowel lining to commence which may result in a biopsy finding having results that conflict with the blood work. Do you know if an endoscopy/biopsy is planned? Celiac disease can have onset at any stage of life, from infancy to old age. It has a genetic base but the genes remain dormant until and unless triggered by some stress event. The stress event can be many things but it is often a viral infection. About 40% of the general population have the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% actually develop celiac disease. So, for most, the genes remain dormant.  Celiac disease is by nature an autoimmune disorder. That is to say, gluten ingestion triggers an immune response that causes the body to attack its own tissues. In this case, the attack happens in he lining of the small bowel, at least classically, though we now know there are other body systems that can sometimes be affected. So, for a person with celiac disease, when they ingest gluten, the body sends attacking cells to battle the gluten which causes inflammation as the gluten is being absorbed into the cells that make up the lining of the small bowel. This causes damage to the cells and over time, wears them down. This lining is composed of billions of tiny finger-like projections and which creates a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients from the food we eat. This area of the intestinal track is where all of our nutrition is absorbed. As these finger-like projections get worn down by the constant inflammation from continued gluten consumption before diagnosis (or after diagnosis in the case of those who are noncompliant) the efficiency of nutrient absorption from what we eat can be drastically reduced. This is why iron deficiency anemia and other nutrient deficiency related medical problems are so common in the celiac population. So, to answer your question about the wisdom of allowing your daughter to consume gluten on a limited basis to retain some tolerance to it, that would not be a sound approach because it would prevent healing of the lining of her small bowel. It would keep the fires of inflammation smoldering. The only wise course is strict adherence to a gluten free diet, once all tests to confirm celiac disease are complete.

Hi all, I have so many questions and feel like google is giving me very different information. Hoping I may get some more definite answers here. ok, my daughter has been diagnosed as a coeliac as her bloods show anti TTG antibodies are over 128. We have started her  on a full gluten free diet. my concerns are that she wasn’t actually physically sick on her regular diet, she had tummy issues and skin sores. My fear is that she will build up a complete intolerance to gluten and become physically sick if she has gluten. Is there anything to be said for keeping a small bit of gluten in the diet to stop her from developing a total intolerance?  also, she would be an anxious type of person, is it possible that stress is the reason she has become coeliac? I read that diagnosis later in childhood could be following a sickness or stress. How can she have been fine for the first 10 years and then become coeliac? sorry, I’m just very confused and really want to do right by her. I know a coeliac and she has a terrible time after she gets gluttened so just want to make sure going down a total gluten free road is the right choice. thank you for any help or advise xx
