Rachel, Uggs in August? Must be cooler there because around here you don't see sweats in August either!

Yeah....I was wondering if the Uggs were "inappropriate" for August but I'm sick with a cold right now and felt like I needed to be warm and cozy. I was a little hot when I left the house for my doctors appt. and wished I hadnt worn sweats...but oh well.

I was cold all day at work...sick and working in the dairy dept so I wanted to be as warm as I could be when I got home. :)

Besides....I LOVE heat.....remember, I'm the one who wanted the temp. in Rachelville to always be in the 90's....I was pretty much standing alone as far as that went.

It hasnt been cold where I live but definately not hot enough for me. :P

Oh, yea, anything goes when you have a cold!!!

I wear my Ugg slippers in the summer ...

I wear my Ugg slippers in the summer ...

I have some Ugg slippers/shoes...they're really cute. I think they were called "blossoms" or something like that. They are slip ons, dark leather, with blossom flowers stiched on them and of course fuzzy inside and around the edges. I'm not sure what to wear them with though??? Are they for winter?? I've had them since Xmas but havent worn them once....I wore my boots all winter but never wore these clogs.

I found a pic....in the pic they look black but mine are chocolate colored....not black. Any sugestions??

Those are cute! Mine are slippers only ... look like slippers. Though when I bought them I had been wearing a new pair of shoes, had spent the day in airports, and the blisters on my feet were bleeding! I bought my Uggs, then wore them the rest of the day not even caring that they were really slippers!!

I'd wear those with jeans. I'm sure Morgan would wear them with a denim mini, cut off tights (with no feet, cut above her ankles) and some kind of trendy sweater.

Oh yes,I like them Rachel-cosy yet practical.

I love a slipper with a hard sole-this means I can potter about in the garden or put the rubbish (garbage) out without getting soggy feet (damn,it's always wet in the UK!)

Check out my faddy shoes (N.B all out of stock-so popular!)

I agree Rachel, very cute shoes. I would also say jeans. Of course jeans are my answer to everything  I love jeans! And I would think they are fall/winter colder weather shoes, but what do I know? They wear the boots in summer with mini skirts these days. I am so NOT on top of fashion.

Carla, how is Morgan?? Isn't that funny how tights/leggings are back in style- never thought I'd see the day. But I guess everything comes back at one time or another.

Morgan's doing great! She's meeting people and getting used to her schedule. I get the idea that she didn't expect as much reading as there is, but she seems to be keeping up.

Morgan was on the cutting edge of the tights style. Neither one of us have leggings (which were great as the last time they were in style with those long shirts was when I had all my babies! Didn't need maternity clothes!). But, she was cutting out the feet of her regular tights and wearing them with a denim mini last year. She used to be a dancer, so tights were always "in" for her!

:lol::lol:

I have seen these shoes!! I've seen them everywhere!! I guess I never knew they were called Crocs.

I think I'll pass on them though.....unless maybe they have some that are tangerine. I've been looking for tangerine sandals all summer with no luck. <_<

Well...actually I probably wouldnt buy them cuz I'm looking for "cute" sandals.

If the Crocs were cheap I'd buy them....did someone say they were expensive?? I would pay $20.

Thanks for all the suggestion for my Uggs! I think they would look best with jeans too....guess I'll have to wait a couple more months. Julie....I LOVE jeans too.....they're comfy....go with everything and always stylish. I've been stuck on Abercrombie jeans for awhile now....not exactly the cheapest...but I just love them. :D

My mom just gave me a pair of her leggings. I had no idea they were back in style.

She ordered them and was sent an extra small instead of small so she gave them to me. I havent tried them on yet...she said if I dont like them I can wear them around the house or to bed.

I used to wear those in high school....except we called them stretch pants...some of them had like a little loop on the bottom that strapped around your feet. Now that I'm thinking about it....why was that loop there??

Even more strange is the fact that I used to wear those!

The ones my mom just gave me are only like knee length...which is much better. :)

Shes going to laugh at me if she reads this post cuz when she gave them to me she was calling them "leggings" and I told her thats not really what they were called. I told her they were called stretch pants...and that she had just made up the word "leggings" herself but noone really calls them that. She then proceeded to get me the catalouge and show me that they were actually called "leggings".

Now I come on here and even in Rachelville they are being called LEGGINGS!

Omg, I am laughing so hard at this Rachel!! I remember those pants with the loop on the bottom. Weren't they called something specific?? I can't think right now, I don't know what it is but I have had the worst brain fog lately  ......anyway the loop I think kept them down, like if you were wearing boots they wouldn't ride up your leg, kind of like riding pants. That was wonderful 80s fashion for ya :lol:

Yeah, you know here in Rachelville we are down with the leggings, it's part of our wordage

OK, now I dont fdeel too old anymore! Inused to wear the leggings too, thought maybe it was a canadian word..eh...kinda like toque....

I was away for awhile, went on a short holiday with the family, survived visit with parents and their hunting stories... my mom also likes to refer to her hursing background anytime something medcial comes up ....well, she graduated from nursing in 1956 and got married and had a baby. Her only "nursing" was in school... makes for interesting conversation

We also stopped at a corn maze - anyone ever been through one of those? Well I got through one part and then got hopelessly lost in phase 2 with Kathryn, DH and son made it out okay... lucky for us they had people planted throughout the maze to help people like me :D:D

and guess what we wore on our feet through the maze? Crocs!...well they are actually the knockoff version called holey soles...I have bright yellow, daughter has pink and son has orange. They are goofy looking but comfy. Only time they look really ridiculous is when ds wears them while altar serving - imagine them with white robe, and then orange shoes and carrying the cross up the aisle..

so far priest hasnt said anything but parishioners keep making comments like " his shoes sure are bright"

We went through a corn maze once. Lots of fun. That was when Talitha was only 18 months. She walked alot of the way and had a blast.....boy did she sleep well after that excursion. :P

COOL!! I've always wanted to do one of those. They usually have one by my house every year around Halloween...never been to it though.

I know people swear by them, which is something I don't understand  how are these plastic things so comfortable??? Please explain. Is it special plastic??

I can't help but think of another plastic shoe fad, jellies  Those had to be the worst!

Oh.....I had those. They were horrible! I had forgotten about them. Must have blocked them out of my memory. Ha!

Can't we make the temp about 55 instead. I like it kinda chilly.

I like it moderate.....in between you two (Rachel and Susan W), the 70's are good for me, at least in Washington.

Sounds okay to me. How about low 70's? I can't handle all the humidity & heat.

CarlaB Enthusiast

I like 70's, too. How about making it in the 80/90's when we want to swim, and in the 50/60's when we want a campfire?

I think I'll make my street I live on in Rachelville called Sixties Lane & it will always be in the 60's. After all it is Rachelville & I think we can modify as we go along. Ha!

I guess my go cart track & mini golf will be located elsewhere in our town where it is a bit warmer.

I'll live on your street! :D

Today, it's cool here--I put a hoodie over my t-shirt, and just had a cup of tea! :)

Such a relief after all of the hot, humid weather.

Maybe we can put our weather on a dimmer switch, lol...turn it down for nice cozy times by the fire and turn it up for some fun in the sun. We can add a rain option too for those of us who like a little rain with our cozy. :P

Awesome! Hi neighbor! I could pass on the heat for sure. I like it a little cozy & the 60's would be super.

Much better. The pain is gone. I'm taking a lot of Advil still today, but probably won't need to...I just am because it's a choir night and my mouth will be getting lots of use, lol. The endodontist I saw is very good...gave me tips on how to reduce the TMJ pain (they were a lot like what you told me to do)...and didn't feel the root canal at all.

So glad to hear it! :D I was worried about you--you sounded absolutely miserable.

@catnapt,  Wheat germ contains high amounts of lectins which are really hard to digest and can be irritating to the digestive tract.  They can stimulate IgG antibody production as your blood test shows.   Even beans have lectins.  You've simply eaten too many lectins and irritated your digestive tract.   You may want to allow your digestive tract to rest for a week, then start on gluten in "normal" food, not in concentrated vital wheat gluten. This explains it well: Lectins, agglutinins, and their roles in autoimmune reactivities https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25599185/

I take Now B-1 (100 mg) Thiamine Hydrochloride, and Amazing Formulas L-Tryptophan (1000 mg).   Both are gluten free and free of other allergens.  I've taken them for a long time and haven't had a problem with them. I take Vitamin A from BioTech called "A-25".  It's gluten and allergen free and made in the USA.  It's a powder form of Vitamin A.  I was having trouble digesting fats at one point, but found I tolerated the powder form much better and have stuck with it since.   Tryptophan and Vitamin A help heal the intestines as well as improves skin health.  I get Dermatitis Herpetiformis and eczema flairs when my stomach is upset.  So I'm healing the outside as well as the inside.   I take one 1000 mg Tryptophan before bedtime.   With the Thiamine HCl, take 100 mg to start.  If you don't notice anything, three hours later take another. You can keep increasing your dose in this manner until you do notice improvement.  Remember not to take it in the evening so it won't keep you too energized to sleep. When I first started Thiamine HCl, taking 500 mg to 1000 mg to start was recommended.  If you've been thiamine insufficient for a while, you do notice a big difference.  It's like the start of a NASCAR race: Zoom, Zoom, turn it up!   This scared or made some people uncomfortable, but it's just your body beginning to function properly, like putting new spark plugs in your engine.  I took 1000 mg all at once without food.  It kicked in beautifully, but I got a tummy ache, so take with food.  I added in Thiamine TTFD and Benfotiamine weeks later and felt like I was Formula One racing.  So cool.  You may feel worse for a couple days as your body adjusts to having sufficient thiamine.  Feels sort of like you haven't cranked your engine for a while and it backfires and sputters, but it will settle down and start purring soon enough.  Adjust your dose to what feels right for you, increasing your dose as long as you feel improvement.  You can reach a plateau, so stay there for several days, then try bumping it up again.  If no more improvements happen, you can stay at the plateau amount and experiment with increasing your Thiamine TTFD.  It's like being your own lab rat.  LoL Yes, take one Benfotiamine at breakfast and one at lunch.  Take the B Complex at breakfast. Take the TTFD at breakfast and lunch as well.  I like to take the vitamins at the beginning of meals and the NeuroMag at the end of meals.   You may want to add in some zinc.  I take Thorne Zinc 30 mg at breakfast at the beginning of the meal.   Are you getting sufficient Omega Threes?  Our brains are made up mostly of fat.  Flaxseed oil supplements, sunflower seed oil supplements (or eat the seeds themselves) can improve that.  Cooking with extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil is also helpful.   @Wheatwacked likes phosphotidyl choline supplements for his Omega Threes.  He's also had dramatic health improvement by supplementing thiamine.  You're doing great!  Thank you for sharing your journey with us.  This path will smooth out.  Keep going!
    • catnapt
good luck! vital wheat gluten made me violently ill. I will touch the stuff ever again.
    • catnapt
I wouldn't consider this lucky. I can NOT tolerate the symptoms. And I googled it and I was not even getting 10 grams of gluten per day and I was extremely ill. They'd have to put me in the hospital. I'm not kidding.   I will have my first appt with a GI dr on March 4th   I will not eat gluten again - at least not on purpose   they are going to have to come up with a test that doesn't require it.
    • xxnonamexx
What Thiamine Hydrochloride brand do you take? Is it like the other vitamins I have added? What brand Tryptophan and amount do you take. Thanks
