Hi

I don't find going gluten-free too difficult

My only issue with my ds is he LOVES waffles/pancakes etc

He is also dairy/soy free until I can figure everything out

Is there a waffle that is d/s/gluten-free?

I couldn't find one at my local Whole Foods

I also could use a bread rec....Whole Foods bread contains soy flour

Any advice appreciated!

Kim

Kim,

How would this work for you? We use it here for my sons gluten-free/CF& corn free diet. It's really good!!

Namaste Foods - Waffle & Pancake Mix (40020000)

These waffles and pancakes are absolutely delicious! They win the taste test over any wheat waffle and pancake mix on the market. They are light and fluffy with a hint of pure vanilla. Top with fresh fruit and whipped cream or real maple syrup and indulge! Our Waffle/Pancake mix is free of wheat, gluten, dairy, corn, potato, soy, and sugar.

Ingredients:

Sweet rice flour, arrowroot flour, tapioca flour, rice milk powder, vanilla, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.

Just add eggs, oil and water or rice milk to make what we believe are the best waffles and/or pancakes you'll ever come across.

If you are looking for a boxed/toaster oven like waffle.. Vans makes a gluten free regular and blueberry waffle. I like them. I also make my own at home.. I use Mr Ritts Pancake and Waffle mix, but that store is located in Philly, and I am not sure if they ship.

I get Vans waffles in my regular supermarket and I am pretty sure I got them once in Whole Foods. Hope that helps. :)

Thanks so much

I've checked out Vans before and believe then have soy flour in them

Thanks again

There are several bread recipes on the Site Index here, & I would highly recommend buying Bette Hagman's The Gluten Free Gourmet Bakes Bread. Many great recipes in there & if they include dairy she usually recommends a substitute.

Pamela's pancake mix is real good and we love Mona's pancake mix. She's online.I like the wildberry waffles from lifestream in the freezer section. WHole foods, giant eagle and Wegman's sell them in my area.

I second the Namaste mix for pancakes and waffles.

1-2-3 Gluten Free Allie's Awesome Pancake Mix is gluten-free and dairy and soy free. I do have an interest in the company, but invite you to check out the testimonials on the website. www.123glutenfree.com

I am a HUGE Namaste fan. I am eating pancakes made from their mix right now - they are delicious! My sweetie makes the best pancakes and when I had to go gluten-free I really missed them. When I found the Namaste mix he made them for me using his special add-ins (a little extra sugar and vanilla I think) and they were even better than the gluten containing ones! He makes a whole batch for me and I freeze them and just reheat.

Namaste's chocolate cake is also unbelievable.

I love the name of this recipe. I haven't tried it yet, but others have and liked it:

The url keeps getting munged by the forum software. Just search for "Sneaky Waffles" and you'll find it.

Is this the recipe you were talking about? It showed up when i googled sneaky waffle recipe

it looks pretty interesting... might have to try it one of these days

6 eggs

1 golden delicious apple, cored and peeled

1 pear, cored and peeled

1 lg carrot

Shred the fruits and carrot. Put the shreddings in a cheesecloth or other clean cloth, and squeeze as much juice out as you can. Save for drinking, as this is quite nice juice. Put the shreddings in a bowl and crack the eggs into the bowl. Mix well. Spoon onto a hot waffle iron and cook as you would any waffle. We serve ours with a very small amount of peanut butter.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.

I hope you are on the mend soon. About 1 in 5 people who contracted chicken pox as a child go on to develop shingles in later life - it is not uncommon. There are 5 known members of the herpes virus family including chicken pox that commonly infect humans, and they all cause lifelong infections. The exact cause of viral reactivation as in the case of shingles or cold sores is not well understood, but stress, sunburn and radiotherapy treatment are known triggers. Some of the herpes viruses are implicated in triggering autoimmune diseases: Epstein-Barr virus is suspected of triggering multiple sclerosis and lupus, and there is a case where it is suspected of triggering coeliac disease. As to whether coeliac disease can increase the likelihood of viral reactivation, there have been several cohort studies including a large one in Sweden suggesting that coeliac disease is associated with a moderate increase in the likelihood of developing shingles in people over the age of 50. US 2024 - Increased Risk of Herpes Zoster Infection in Patients with Celiac Disease 50 Years Old and Older Sweden 2018 - Increased risk of herpes zoster in patients with coeliac disease - nationwide cohort study

BFree bread is fortified with vitamins and minerals as is ASDA own-brand gluten-free bread. All the M&S bread seems to be fortified also.

You might try Heallix.  It's a silver solution with fulvic acid. I just put the solution on with a cotton ball.  It seemed to stop the nerve pain. Again,  not in your eyes or ears.   Go to heallix.com to read more about it and decide for yourself Also,  I do think nerve and celiac combined have a lot to do with your susceptibility to shingles breaking out.
